So basically if you are looking for a new artist and you're so lost on who to go to, I recommend you see Taylor. He's so professional, does some bad ass work and makes sure you leave with a tattoo you'll love forever. He's done most of my ink now and I've seen him every couple weeks so far to work on my neotraditional sleeve. Started the process of getting a Japanese style half-sleeve on my left arm about a month ago. Until then, I had only some lettering on my left bicep. Did my research, checked out shops in the Long Beach area, and was interested to see what Ace of Hearts could offer. I called ahead before my visit to see which artists specialized in Japanese sleeves and was referred to Austin B. I visited the same day and Austin was able to speak with me right away to start the consultation process. I told him what concepts I wanted to integrate, (symbols, color, etc.) and he told me he would start the design and would have it ready by the following weekend. During that week, he was very receptive and responsive on his IG account, as I would shoot over some pictures of sleeves I liked and he would offer input. By the time of my next visit the next week, lo and behold, the design was ready and looked great. It would be a koi fish swimming upward, with a hibiscus at the bottom of the sleeve. The design would leave the pre-existing bicep tattoo alone by having a cloud surrounding it. He had the design drawn out, but did not need to stencil it on my arm; he did it all freehand by referring to the drawing, in order to scale the design appropriately. Austin started the lining and shading process, and finished a large proportion of it in a very efficient manner. He advised me to come in 2 weeks later to finish all shading and color the design in. Normally, these half sleeves would take 3-4 sessions, but I powered through them and got it completely done in two. Austin was quick, professional, and did very well with the line work. I trusted his vision for how to color in the sleeve, and it turned out great. Thanks man! I would highly recommend anyone looking to get a sleeve to ask for Austin. The lines will be clean for sure. Austin (dude w the long curly hair) was very welcoming. My girlfriend and I were first timers and all the workers didn't make us feel like noobs. They're fair with the pricing and break it down for you as to why they price it at what it is. They are not cheap but they are fair! But the work is very high quality and they take their time when editing ideas for your tattoo vision so its worth every penny. They also work quick, my girlfriend and I were both walk-ins; her tattoo took about 15-20 minutes and mine was about an hour but it went by fast. The shop itself is pretty sick with art all over and hilarious sayings. It's a comfortable atmosphere and the people are great. All in all my first tattoo experience couldn't have been better. I had a tatt that had aged poorly and Jason V was the only artist of several I asked who said he could make something that wasn't just a giant black ball/Mickey Mouse head/large black heart. I have been to this shop twice. Once for myself and once with a friend.  We worked with Jason Paul.  He is an amazingly talented artist and a wonderful person.  He takes a tattoo idea and not matter how simple gives it dimension and style.  During my visit, he patiently worked with me on placement and design.  My tattoo healed quickly and looks amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better personal experience.  Two weeks later I brought my friend in for her first tattoo.  He provided her with the best experience.  The shop environment with clean, laid back and professional.  Every staff member I have met has been friendly and not pretentious.  Bonus: there is a nice bodega across the street and coffee shop 3 blocks down. My husband and I came in on our year anniversary looking for finger tattoos. When we first walked in they were very welcoming and honest with us notifying us that fingers fade.  It was the first tattoo for both of us and couldn't have been more pleased!!! The numbers came out really clean ( we got our wedding date on our ring fingers ) and I actually got an additional spur of the moment tattoo. Walked in with an appt with Jose who is absolutely amazing and super welcoming. The shop was clean and the bathroom is seriously fabulous especially if you are into vintage. The tattoo Jose did for my brother in law was great and you see how much time he took to make sure he was satisfied also interacted with us on a personal level which made it feel super comfortable. I wanted to get something done all in one day.... called this place, the person on the phone was super helpful, he said they take walk-ins and it's on a first come first serve basis. So that afternoon I went, Christina was available (keep in mind that I just went by the pictures on yelp and didn't really have any particular tattoo artist I wanted to see, I just really liked the work I saw and I thought this place would be the best for what I'm looking for). Anyway, I brought in pictures of what I wanted, she sketched it out, adjusted some, and the final product speaks for itself. She brought my ideas to life!
