My girlfriend got all of her tattoos here and her experiences each time were very good! They get the job done quickly and very efficiently. Not to mention that they are very friendly and make you comfortable while you're getting your tattoos. They give you a time and price estimate as well. Great place! This place definitely needs to supervision or management training. I would not recommend going to this shop.The employees are not friendly and in fact very dismissive. when I asked the employee for an estimate he stated we cant do it today after I asked for an estimate he threw out some random number. Once I saw they basically didn't want to work I asked for a business card and they employee said "ya there over there!"When I showed up there was a female employee on a cigarette break outside, 3 guys standing around the front counter area and only one employee working on a customer in the back. I also noticed an exposed tattoo needle on the counter. (yikes)anyways I recommend doing your research lot of reputable shops in the area that are more than happy to help. Finally I feel that even though marijuana became legal in California like anything else I believe there is a time and place for everything. the strong odor of marijuana coming from the back of the shop was very clear and evident. When I was 40 I had my first tattoo done by a guy that was friends of the owner and was passing threw. Now I have my tattoos by Jonathan and he's wonderful. I love hardluck! This is my primary tattoo shop. I love Jonathan and Rooster more than anything. Everyone here is amazing! We do walk ins regularly and stay till late getting tatted. Always feels like a family reunion when I come here. I love having a great relationship with my tattoo artists. Time flies by while I get tattooed. Prices are amazing. Only 1 star cause that's what I'm allowed to do. The Asian guy without the glasses did a rose piece on my hand. Didn't finish or put the rose were I want it or even do it how I wanted it and when I ask if he still got a lot more to do cause it was looking like a basic home tattoo in my garage. I'm only giving this place a star because Yelp won't let me give them no stars. My boyfriend and myself came into Hardluck earlier today to check out some of the artists work and get price quotes. Turns out my boyfriend left his wallet by accident. I had to call even though I had just given Byron my number 10 minutes prior and when I asked if they had the wallet he responded with "yeah we do" to which my first initial thought was "why wouldn't he call if he knew that was my boyfriends wallet?" We drove back, got it and one of the workers stole 40$. When we confronted Byron about the missing money he said "he put the wallet behind the counter" but "a lot of people go in and out." Basically trying to say that a lot of people come and go but he put the wallet behind the counter so did the money get up and walk out of the wallet itself? The place was dead too. When confronted if there was any cameras he responded "no." What place of business doesn't have cameras where they collect money? Needless to say I don't trust anybody that would steal from prospective customers and god knows what other bullshit happens behind the scene. Good luck. Read Less

I thought long and hard before getting my first tattoo and had a really good idea what I wanted. I emailed the owner before coming in and had hoped for a little more than the "can't quote a price for a tattoo until you're here' response but that's what I got. I came in the afternoon I was looking to get it done and the guys in the shop were busy eating lunch. I told them what I wanted and showed them some samples and they asked me to come back in an hour or so while they worked something up. I walked around the corner and had a cup of coffee with a friend. When I came back, they had drawn what I wanted in the right size and personalized it the way I asked. The tattoo was a super simple, no color, and not very big in size. It took a little over an hour and they were done. I like it. It was what I wanted. The base price was a little high for me and even more-so because I have always been a big tipper. The shop looked clean and I didn't have any problems. I will probably try another shop next time but just so I can see what's out there. This place was fine. Read Less

this is to sarah d .I am sorry you feel this way. as far as I see it you have not had any work done here. I don't see  any reason.to post in here trashing a business without having any work done. you might have been surprised at what is available  here. it does not seem to me by your post you are  a customer but a shopper. this shop has nothing but quality work. all artists have different concepts on how things should look. some artists like to start slow and show you what they can do. you probably made the right decision to find another facility that was willing to continue on with artwork and not sharing with you what they thought of existing work.  I have work that they are now fixing that I thought was great and I am finding out there is better work to be had .good luck on your venture.. I went into this shop because I had a friend who got some work done.. I called ahead and asked them if they had any available spots they told me to come down in 30 minutes and they would get me right in. All I was getting was was some scroll work on my arms.. I get there and had to wait an hour just to talk to the guy and then he had me come back another hour later.. My tattoo took 20 minutes to do.. I had to sit there and listen to two girls who were drinking alcohol in the shop while they were getting tattooed being stupid young and dumb.. The lines are all messed up on the words and some lines are thicker than others.. and they charged me $200. They wouldn't tell me how much it was until after I got the tattoo done.. I have since gone to another shop in Lodi and have been told that I need the work fixed.. Which I agree.. I also got an extremely detailed tattoo that's the size of my whole forearm and was charged the same price $200 from the other shop.. This place just uses their name to charge people a ridiculous price for crappy work.. And they have terrible customer service.. Would never recommend them to anyone.. Read Less

I've seen excellent art on people from this shop. My sister has had a few different people tattoo her here Joel, and Bao. Friends also recommend Paul and Joe they all do beautiful work here. Why the three stars? Well I had a hard time communicating with an artist here doesn't mean that I wouldn't recommend anyone here come in and see for yourself. Make an appointment if they ask for a deposit make a deposit they all do a great job and the shop is awesome clean and spacious definitely the only shop in Lodi that I would recommend. Experiences may vary I'm sad that I couldn't give more than a three star but unfortunately I have to be completely honest about my experience and let's be real here, most tattoo artists are a little flaky, but if you're patient unlike myself you will get a rockstar tattoo from one of these super talented super friendly artists! I have had this favorite shirt with an image I wanted tattooed on my chest. I have wanted this for a while and finally had some money to get it done. I went in to Hard Luck and the first guy I see was Lee (RIP) who ended up doing my tattoo that same day for $300! I absolutely love it, the colors are amazing! It ended up taking about 4 hours and we were the only ones left at the shop after midnight. I will definitely get more work done over there.Now some of the other experiences I have read about were horrible and I have to say that if you go into a tattoo shop and get so much bad attitude and eye rolling when you tell them what you want....DON'T GET TATTOOED THERE! Absolutely the best tattoo shop around.  I've had Josh tattoo a full sleeve on my right arm and have also got a few on my left arm from him and it's some of the best work I've ever seen.  Will definitely keep coming back.  The other guys do great work as well. Read Less
