I have had two very different experiences. I'll start with the positive... I got a piercing here by Kyle. He was amazing. Very professional and skilled. Would not even pierce me if I wasn't sure I wanted it because he said he did not like to leave unnecessary scars on people. I was impressed. It was the smootest and cleanest piercing I have have. I give him 5+. Would not recommend anyone else in O.C. for piercing. My tattoo experience was the opposite. 1 out of 5. I came in w my friend. I asked for a two word tat. And she wanted a simple cross. The artist Jason was pushy and didn't listen to my suggestions. But it was our first tattoos so we just went w it. The results were bad. No one could read my tattoo. It was supposed to say Just Live but ended up looking like fist live. This has become my new hash tag. Everyone teases me about it. I'm chill about it but I wanted a nice tattoo not a joke. My friend's was crooked and asymmetric. After a long talk w the owner, I worked out a good compensation... Another friend of mine got a free tattoo by Jon, which turned out amazing. I was informed Jason no longer works there. So at the end the experience at the shop was fine. All the other artists seemed professional and good. I would return in future. And I guess I have a good story to tell now. But Kyle's attitude and professionalism is the only reason my friend and I weren't completely pissed and why I even bothered returning. Even when i came back, Kyle greeted me at the door and asked how my tattoo was doing, even though he was not involved in the situation. Read Less

Took my mom in to get her ears repierced. Everyone in the shop was super friendly and great to work with. Kyle did the piercings, and he was so knowledgeable and careful. He made my mom feel right at home and ensured that his work was perfect. The layout of the shop is awesome and everything there is squeaky clean. Yesterday my grandmother passed away. She always wanted a little heart tattooed on her finger. We were supposed to go years ago to get it together but didn't have enough time on her short visit. I called them up around 6pm and asked if they could take me tonight for a little finger tattoo. They told me to head on over. I was greeted by Jon, he was going to be the one doing my tattoo. Asked me what I wanted and where. He got all set up and took me back. I was in and out in like 20 minutes. He asked why I wanted this and I told him a little bit about my grandmother and how she had always wanted a little heart on her finger. He did a killer job. John overcharged for a 45 minute outline... $500, but it gets worse. I was lead to believe that $500 would cover the whole tattoo so I paid up front. I was then told once the outline was done and the $500 handed over that it would be another $500 to finish my tattoo. I had the work cleaned up by another artist and then had the tattoo finished. I have been to True at heart tattoo ever since my big move here from New York! I got my nose pierced at a place called White Lotus about a year ago and I cannot compare my experience at all. This place is by far the better option. The environment is a lot more relaxed and they are much more humble rather than White Lotus, which comes off as a stuck up tattoo place. They were rude and very unwelcoming. I got to True at heart and I didn't know what to expect. Luckily, the guy who greeted me was very sweet and their music selection was amazing! Kyle was my piercer and he did a great job! I have a fear of needles however he was very polite, informative and took his time when it came to finding the perfect placement for the ring. He was also very gentle and gave me step by step of the procedure. At White Lotus, the guy who did my piercing didn't go anything of the procedure, I had to force a conversation out of him and he didn't go over any of the proper care techniques and I had to call serval times for clarification. Kyle on the other hand gave me a handout with the aftercare instructions and even provided me a small bottle of antibacterial soap! I've visited True at Heart on 2 different occasions wanting body jewelry. Every time I get looked at by the staff and no one ever helps. This shop has a pretty dope vibe to it. The atmosphere alone definitely makes a difference- a lot more chill than other shops I've been to (tattoos and other piercings).I came here on a whim to get my nipples pierced and was way nervous about it at first but Kyle did a great job! He was really quick and efficient & I felt completely relaxed and comfortable the entire time. I was probably in and out within 15 minutes. Kyle the piercer is for lack of a better word DOPE. So incredibly professional and polite. He took care of my nose piercings with such care changed my original septum and pierced each side of my nose. I accidentally pulled my nose ring out the first night like an idiot and he took care of my the next day fixed me up with no questions asked. Would recommend him any day of the week. The shop is awesome with a great vibe not intimidating at all and everyone my boyfriend and I encountered there was awesome. Would recommend this shop to anybody for piercings or tatts. Read Less

I'm literally so happy with Paul Hernandez's art work, I just asked hey do you have anything you wanna tattoo and he drew up the most perfect tattoo, and just the colors he chose were such a perfect fit. In looking at where to get our tattoos we did the usual,  both in asking others and reading many shop reviews. I originally was looking at getting a similar tattoo that my son has who is in the military, (my son wanted me to get a similar tattoo when he came home for leave). I also had an existing tattoo that I wanted to have covered up and get a new design. "True At Heart" was conveniently located to our home so we went to get a feel for the shop...immediately we were sold on the place, upon entering the shop, Kyle (who's awesome) greeted us, made us feel very comfortable and answered all our questions. Kyle then introduced us to Jon, (who is an amazing and skilled artist). I explained that I was looking to get a similar tattoo to my sons tattoo and that my son was due to arrive in a couple weeks and I wanted to surprise my son, Jon took it from there...these guys exceeded my expectations,,,,beyond happy!! Since that first encounter in June 2016 I've had Jon do my cover up tattoo and several others,,,my wife has also had a couple tattoos done from Jon (and she wasn't even really into tattoos). Paul Hernandez is a savage. I couldn't be any happier with my new piece. He literally brought clarity to my life regarding this tattoo reminding me that the fight has already been won. God is so faithful and spared my life many times over. Paul was able to pull it all together with the obvious guardian angel stepping on satans head however he took it to another place forever reminding me that I've overcome an addiction that took so much from me. I got home, looked in the mirror at the completed piece and wept. This tattoo will forever remind me how amazing God is. He truly was able to use my poor decisions and all the pain and misery that I caused for good, truly has used it for good.
