My review is based on the work itself for a hummingbird Tattoo created by Bear. I went in with the plan to get a black and white hummingbird but after discussing many images with Bear I took his advice and decided on a colored one instead. I don't regret my decision at all. I have gotten work done by one of the artists prior to him working there and I've enjoyed my experience and his work and my most recent tattoo was done here �...unfortunately when trying to contact this artist again regarding a tattoo a friend of mine wanted to get I received a very uncalled for reply from, who I believe is this artist girlfriend, long story short I was told to look elsewhere for a tattoo artist to do my friends and my tattoos, and that he didn't need slutty bitches like me to hit him up. I don't believe this is very professional to mess with someone's business/job unfortunately I doubt I'll be returning I don't mean to give bad reviews to anyone or their business but this was just uncalled for. DO NOT GET ANYTHING PIERCED HERE. About 3, almost 4 weeks ago, my boyfriends sister, and my boyfriends mom and I got piercings here. The two of us got our nose pierced, and one for the forward helix. Unfortunately I don't know his name, but I know he was Latino, and had a beard and wore a hat. As a result from this piercing, I got a really gross bump. (And so did my boyfriends sister and mom!) And today it just looked really bad, so I went to a well known jeweler in Hollywood for him to take a look at my nose. He looks at it and inside, and says, "Okay, this piercing was done so fucking horribly wrong." He proceed to explain to me that it was pierced going straight down rather than the angle my nose is at. Also, the jewelry was fucking pathetic, and had no polish to it. Also, I don't remember the name of what the jewelry had or was made of, but it is ILLEGAL to sell in California. I was really devastated that this happened to me. Fortunately, I'm gonna be taken care of at Generation8 tattoo (with @theallendabbs). It sucks that I have to wait 3 weeks for it to heal and re-do this whole process. Also to say, the guy who pierced my nose NEVER explained anything afterwards. He never explained how to clean it, or what to clean it with. I left really confused. As far as tattoos go, I really don't know, but I definitely wouldn't go there ever again. I'm only giving this one star cause I'm kinda required to so that I can write a review. Anyway, DON'T GO HERE. I'm not trying to make this sound like an advertisement but I think it's only fair. If your gonna pierce your face and want it done just go to Generation8 tattoo and piercing. It's where it's at! For both tattoos and piercings! I found this studio on yelp. When first walking in, the beautiful art work caught my eye. After asking questions I found out some of the artwork are done by the tattoo artists. The shit was immaculate so I knew my tattoo would be amazing. I thought their prices were a little too steep at first but then I started looking around at other tattoo shops and realized they are charging for quality work. I entered Hard Luck Tattoo as a walk-in client and left very happy. On a Friday evening, I thought the shop would be busy but to my surprise and advantage, there were no customers waiting. I explained to Bear the type of Geometric design I wanted. Very simple and minimalistic in concept, my son's birthday in the form of geometric symbols and dots. As a creative who love visual references, I came with a sketch in hand, in addition to other visual references.The original placement I desired was my right ear lobe (cool concept in theory), however due to the size of my ear, Bear informed me the tattoo wouldn't look good. I loved the honest feedback. Listen I'm open to suggestions when it comes to the creative process. Bear took 10 mins to draft the design and 5 mins to ink me. Love his work! He is professional, talented, honest, and in tune with the needs of his clients. As a individual who stalks Yelp and reads Yelp reviews religiously, it's important  to recognize real artistry. This place is trash. DO NOT EVER get piercings here. They have zero lack of knowledge on what they're doing. My friends piercings became severely infected, they told us to use bactine to help our piercings to heal which is the wrong solution to use!!! They pierced my tragus piercing with a regular earring, so now I can only use regular earrings in that hole because tragus earrings do not fit :). Milking me for some dough, how the fuck you going to do a careless/halfassed job, they say let your work speak for itself; but fuck that. My money's just as good as anyone else's & for this to be the outcome makes my blood fucken boil. Talking about he knows I already paid him, but he can't work for free. You just said it yourself, you were PAID, so technically you ain't working for free. It sucks to have to hand out a 1 star review to a tattoo shop because that usually means that you are probably walking around with a tattoo you are unhappy with. Bear was my tattoo artist and he seemed very excited to complete a full sleeve like I was interested in. I chose Bear only because I knew he was friends with a guy who gave me a great tattoo. I went in looking to get an hourglass tattoo as the first of many in part of a sleeve. I left with a giant skull. I realize that making the decision to change my original idea was my fault but I was convinced by the artist it was the best way to start my sleeve. During the tattoo my artist took multiple breaks to go "smoke" with the other shop employees. I thought maybe that wasn't the best state of mind to be in for my tattoo but I was already halfway in and maybe this is just how they do it in California. The process wasn't terrible but I was there way longer than expected. I asked him to finish the wrist in a straight line all the way around, and that is not what I got. He added it some shading lines just for filler that is anything but straight. For whatever reason, after I left the shop, I still wanted to go back for a second visit. I think because I wanted to quickly add to the sleeve so it wasn't just a giant skull. However, Bear kept trying to make appointments after hours, after the shop closed. I'm not sure why. I'm just not really trying to get my work done after midnight. Give me a regular appointment. Even when I agreed to after hours, he flaked. I wish I could just make the tattoo disappear, but I am stuck with it. It's way darker than it should be, even after sitting for a year. This shop isn't the place to go for anyone who's serious about good work. If you want a an artist who takes tattooing seriously, then just find another shop. Read Less

I went to get my septum pierced  about a year ago after careful consideration on many different places to go. I ended up here, having some type of knowledge about septum piercings. I forget who pierced me, but it was a shorter fella with a mustache and glasses. I was calm through, he was pretty nice. I didnt feel anything, however when i left, i actually looked at the placement and it was definitely through the cartilage, and very low to where it would touch the middle of my lip. i took it out about 5 fives months after because of the placement. and it ended up with an infection. The people there are nice, but I dont know if they have all the experience with certain piercings. Read Less

I cannot believe how much things have changed since I've last been here 6years ago. I walked in and was not greeted there were two men in the front I had to say hello I'm here to buy a dermo ring for them to help me out. They didn't have a well stocked supply of rings BUT THIS IS A TATTOO SHOP RIGHT?? this is where I got my dermo done. The ring that I bought I didn't like it I spent $10 and tipped the guy and when I walked out it wasn't screwed on all the way I have the appliance myself to fix it no biggie to my discovery he put in a ring that was too big. I came here for a touch up on my ankle and left with 3 tattoos and came back for one more ask for Bear!!! His work is so intricate and detailed I feel like walking art. HE PUTS HIS HART AND SOUL INTO EACH TATTOO. Ugh...the people here act like they could care less if they get your business. I lost my nose piercing a few weeks back, went in to get one and the front desk guy did not bend it correctly and I lost it again the next week. I went back and had the owner do it and it still isn't bent correclty and looks like a silver booger is hanging from my nose, UGH! If I turn it a certain way, it feel like it is piercing my septum and is just extremely uncomfortable. I give up on this place. I was coming here because it was close to me and the guy I had years ago was very good...maybe he is no longer there...I will go to WEHO or Venice next time, but not here ever again... Read Less

I've gotten three of my six tattoos done there by the same tattoo artist, Oscar. Their website doesn't do the guys any justice! They are all very talented artists. I live in the San Fernando Valley and I will make the drive to Inglewood just to go get my tattoos done by Oscar. The colors are vibrant and so much detail is put into each piece, you can tell he takes pride in his work!! I go in with an idea of what I want and Oscar does the rest, its like he reads my mind!!
