I found lovesick tattoo and Jeff searching for an artist on Instagram wanting to a custom leg piece full of color, my biggest piece yet. The idea I came in with was far surpassed than anything I could ever imagine. Jeff took my ideas of what I wanted and created something unique but still true to what the original looked like. I went to Jeff for a last minute tattoo about 10 days ago. This was, without a doubt, the least stressful, least painful, and best tattoo experience I've had.I have to admit that no matter how many times I go into a tattoo shop, I never fail to be nervous or get insecure about the tattoo design that I want. There have been a couple times where I've been scoffed at or immediately judged; I never got that feeling from Jeff for a second. He was very friendly, accommodating, and his good spirits immediately relieved me of any doubt I had regarding what I wanted. When resizing my tattoo and choosing placement, it was very clear he's been doing this for a long time. I was also freaking out about the fact that it was gonna be on my ribs, but he gave me a tip that made the process go by as painless as possible. It's been almost two weeks and the tattoo has healed wonderfully. Ultimately, I chose his tat shop because I saw his lettering in a couple of yelp photos and thought it was perfect. I was recommended by a friend to see Jeff. I called and made an appoinment for a consultation.  The shop is really nice, surronded with statues of elephants, buddah heads and massive candles. The shop is really clean and organized. In the foyer, there are 2 books filled with each artist work...beautiful work. I wanted to get an elephant with a butterfly in remembrance of the recent passing of my grandma. I showed Jeff different ideas and different idea on where I wanted to place it. Jeff offered his expertise and gave me his honest opinion. He actually ended up recommending ERIK to do the tattoo! Omg honesty, I really really appreciate honesty . The following day I met with Erik and he too provided his expertise and drew out a rough sketch of my idea. Immediately earned my trust. A week later,  I come back in to look at Erik's final drawing. Finding an artist to get the best tattoo isn't really that easy. I researched everyone in my area and LA and the shop I kept coming back to was Lovesick Tattoo.I called first to see how they work and was impressed right away. Someone actually answered the phone!!! All the artists do consults at 5:00 and it's pretty easy to get in right away. Depending on the artist you feel works best for you there could be a bit of a wait to get your tattoo. I was so happy when I found out that Keegan Keough who does guest there a lot had decided to make it his home. I was really really excited since his work is stellar. He's a great guy that I'd love as a friend and that's big for me when I'm wearing someone's art. It's really personal. Im their living canvas so I want their best. I gave him such random ideas I figured he'd think I was crazy but he took everything I said and came up with a design I lovedWhen you walk in this place it's clean,stylish, has just a really great feel overall. Hats off Jeff for making your dream place absolutely awesome. I love it and as important I immediately felt at home. Another biggie for me. Of course the day of (today) Keegan was to start I was beyond excited. He double checked everything with me and was extremely thoughtful with placement as it was kinda a difficult coverup. He just took his time to make sure it was perfect. I am working on an inner forearm which does hurt more than others I've had but Keegan was cool about taking as many breaks as I needed. Jeff the owner was in and would pop his head in to say hi and how's it going. These guys genuinely care. Keegan is amazing I don't know if I'll ever have anyone else do my work now. He really has a lifelong customer of me and I just can't say enough good things about him.I spent about 2-3 hours a day for over a week looking for the best cause I'm super picky. They are as close to perfect I could find. You don't have to go to LA to get an amazing piece of work. Actually people from LA should come here!!If you have an idea you really want and it may take a bit more time to do than you thought and I do understand that equals money,talk to the guys during your consult and be honest about your budget so they know what they're working with so they can get as much as possible of your ideas in your tattoo. Maybe do it in parts in a way it can look finished and you can just add on later. It doesn't make sense to go super cheap, as cheap and great don't go together and especially great tattoos aren't cheap,but,and this a huge but,these guys are extremely reasonable. I've paid way more. So I expected a higher price when I saw their work. I just left there an hour ago and made one stop with plastic wrap on my arm and had three people ask for cards and they were looking through plastic!!! I think that says A LOT! In my opinion tattoos are art that we love enough to wear for the rest of our lives so it only makes sense to have the best people do your work for you. You won't regret it going to Lovesick Tattoo and having my guy Keegan do your work or any other artist there. My best tattoo experience for sure and I'm not a novice so try it out and you'll have a great experience too and you'll be excited to show all your friends your new tattoo whether it's your first or tenth. In fact, I was already peeling on the third day!The second session Jeff added color to the petals of the lotus and some additional shading. He chose colors based on what I liked and my skin tone. The tattoo is absolutely gorgeous! I cried when I saw it. I know that the tattoo isn't finished yet but it is already so beautiful. I originally got the tattoo to represent something very meaningful to my soul but it has become a part of me. I honestly like myself with my tattoo more than I liked how I looked without it. :) My boyfriend has even been turned into a tattoo fan. He went from playing "devil's advocate" and asking if I REALLY needed a tattoo over a painting to absolutely loving it. I couldn't be happier. I got my first tattoo here at lovesick tattoo and my experience couldn't have been better.  The first time I went there I met with Jeff the artist and he immediately gave off a friendly and competent vibe.  His work on his website speaks for itself -- when I went in there I had some skepticism that every tattoo he does looks as good as what you see in his portfolio, but I trusted him and it turned out to be a great decision.  I am very happy with my tattoo.A big part of getting a tattoo is spending somewhere between 2-30 hours with your tattoo artist and Jeff was great to spend this time with.  He'll chat with you if you like or work quietly if you want to listen to music or just browse the internet on your phone.  Very personable, very flexible.Jeff's apprentices Roy and Ashley were also very friendly and you can tell they're happy working there.  Just like if you're out on a date and your date's rude to the waiter, an unhappy staff is a red flag -- but at Jeff's shop the staff all seem like good friends, chatting and joking around while getting work done.Mine was a medium sized shoulder piece that took about 8 hours total, and Jeff took my idea and ran with it and gave me something creative, colorful and totally badass.  This guy's line work is great and he's a pro with color.  I don't have a frame of reference for how much other tattoos are pain wise but he seems to have a pretty light touch -- I've had mild sunburns that hurt more.I had a fantastic experience with my first tattoo and I couldn't recommend this shop more. Never having a tattoo before, and wanting one for my daughter I researched Yelp and the internet to find one that could do the design I wanted.  1.  First thing I noticed, this place is extremely clean and well maintained.  You can tell Jeff cares about the place like it was his own baby.2.  Jeff was really welcoming and friendly.  I spoke to him about my idea and he went to work with it.  He didn't pressure me at all.  Everything that was done, was something he always consulted with me on first and confirmed whether or not it was the way to go.3.  If you are in the chair, he only focuses on you and no one else.  There have been times when people would come in to try and talk to Jeff or ask for a consultation and he would ask them to come back because he was working on me.  That's a high level of professionalism in my book.  4.  The work came out amazing.  For my first tattoo ever, I did a half sleeve, and man did Jeff knock it out of the ballpark.  My friends who have had tattoos done before were jealous of the quality of work being done, especially the coloring and shading.5.  To that Paul D. guy, I know for a fact that Jeff was returning deposits to people who booked with the other artist because a lady came in looking for Jon and was given an apology and her deposit back.I highly recommend this place to anyone.  When I get my next tattoo, I'll definitely come back to this one.
