So on Frday the 13TH I went to go get a simple tattoo. So I pick out two tatoos , simple keys. How hard is that when u r copying a stencil a simple already drawn picture... Well I guess for Lawerence.,who was the tattoo artist that worked on me, didnt follow any pattern but his own. As he was working on me for one he was sweating so bad I almost needed an umbrella, so I wouldnt get wet. After a few minutes he suggested that maybe some depth in these two keys would look good. I agreed with the idea. As he is tattooing I notice that he has gotten black ink all over my upper arm and has used a thousand towels, that are now full of black ink. He completes his job and I look in the mirror. I see the keys but there was so much ink wiped from my arm that I couldnt see the tatoo very clear. So I hope that when I wash my arm off all the ink will be gone and the keys will look how they looked when he put the stencil on..No such luck...I couldn't believe that I actually recieved this thing called a tattoo at a professional shop..My two year old could had done a better job using a sharpe marker. Now instead of showing my tatoo off I cover it ...It is the most stupid and embarrassing thing I have ever seen....Now I have to either remove it or find something to cover it or always wear sleeved tops...Thanks Lawerence this really ruins my bikini days... Came here to get my first tattoo. My sister and I got matching ones (paw prints).My sister and I were very skeptical since this was our first tattoo so we wanted to find the right artist to help us out. We made an appointment the night before with Jose and the vibe just seemed right- very friendly and nice. We actually drove by the day before and we thought it looked very clean and nice from the outside! We went in and were greeted by Jose. He gave us some ideas and helped us figure out exactly where and what we wanted. Super sweet guy! He was very calm and professional when we were freaking out haha. Free-speech is incredibly important. Because of that I want to love this tiny tattoo parlor in the now-upscale beach community right smack dab in the heart of where skate and surf culture intersect. But I cannot get past miserable customer service.I came in in January 2017 to get a tiny tattoo literally the simplest thing you've ever seen, in black ink, a total of not even 10 lines.  Not only was it simple, I was told it was so simple I would be in and out in five minutes which, once the process started, I was.The actual tattoo it's self was painless and for that I give complements to Greg.  The disappointment begins with the minimum charge ($95), which of course I should have asked first, however I was quite surprised at how costly it was for such a small and quick tatt.  Ok - I thought that's no big deal because the customer service promise was that I could come back in for a touchup whatever I wanted at no charge.This is where my super annoying experience begins and why I have to rate so low.I was back in the area a few months later and one of the edges of the simple line on my tattoo had considerably thinned out. In fact a few people who I showed my tattoo commented to the effect of "oh you're going to get that touched up right?" Anyhow I reached out and was told that only Greg could touch up my tattoo. I could understand that on a complex piece of work but this is literally a series of small lines on my tattoo. Nothing artistic.  So I decided to try when I was back in town in the fall of 2017I called & I was told that Greg would be in. But to make sure he'd be there, I left a message for him and I rang back and I heard nothing. I sent an email and I heard nothing.  Then I went by on one of his "work days" and he was not in.As my work has me primarily out of Los Angeles, I attempted again one year later to get my tattoo touched up. I called and was told he would be in in the afternoon.The familiar unfortunate situation from the fall repeated itself. I went by, he wasn't there. Although there was someone working at the front desk that day who was very nice and helpful, including texting Greg to see if he was actually going to come in, no one could do the touch up that I needed.  He never did come in that day, and As I am very rarely in the area, once again I was let down.Frustrating, disappointing, and not a good value in the long run for something so simple. I LOVE this place! Besides the environment being clean and awesome, the people here are phenomenal. I'm always a little intimidated by tattoo shops because I usually come in with small, girly, pre designed tattoos. I know they are artists so they probably hate tattoos like that - but this shop was so welcoming. I dealt with Lawrence over email and the phone and he was so nice and made me feel so welcome! After contacting many shops, I knew this was my place from the first impression in dealing with Lawrence - he is phenomenal!When I got there, I got tattooed by Ryan, who is also phenomenal! He didn't make me feel like the tattoos I wanted were silly or that I was wasting his time. He was super friendly and made me feel so comfortable being there. The design I wanted required too much detail for the size, so he generously accommodated and made some changes and it came out so much better than the design I came in with. You rock, Ryan! They are kind of expensive compared to other places like 3rd Street tattoo but it is sooo worth it. Do your research and it'll pay off in spades Gerard did my tattoo and spent time sketching it to perfect the design before my first sitting. When I came in I had a bit of a sunburn, so he didn't do color that day (just the outline) and had me come back to get the best possible outcome. At first I was irritated that he made me come back, but since tattoos are 'for life', I was happy that I followed his instructions so the color could really take.  After my second sitting, it was all done and he captured everything I wanted with artistic flair. I've gotten 3 tattoos f4om here .. all.bad. th3y hire these transient tattoo artist thats show you fake portfolios and dont know how to tattoo. Also they are very expensive.  If you get a dot they will tell u the store minimum is 125 so that's what it is. DON'T GET YOUR TAT FROM HERE... Read Less

ChaCha is amazing!! I came in requesting a memorial tattoo for my cat who passed away in February. He moved across the county with me when I started my life completely over so losing him was devastating. I initially sent her a few photos of him and some ideas I had for styling. She sketched up two different options, both of which I loved. Took two sessions to outline and shade the entire tattoo. She is very easy to talk to and made the whole process so painless. My artist was Kylie and she was so helpful, professional, and kind. I had two tattoo's done by her and I was just a mess for my first one. It was my first tattoo ever and I was crazy nervous. Didn't help that I had a low tolerance for pain and kept changing my mind about the design. As you can imagine I wasn't exactly the best client to deal with. But she was so patient, very professional, encouraging, and honest. She returned all my emails promptly and explained everything (from pre tattoo prep, to after care) incredibly thoroughly, twice.  The art work itself is beautiful, I'm so in love with my tattoos. Painfully UnprofessionalIt took Kylie 3 weeks to respond to my email regarding getting my "free" touchup that she offered and then charged me for an hour of work, beyond the additional time it took for the 4th flower she added.Not to mention, this work was time-sensitive and this flower dedicated to my mother's recent death, which Kylie was made fully aware of...I figured, oh well she seems nice, I'll let it slide.Later, I had made an appointment several days in advance to get the 4th flower she added touched up and she sends me an email canceling just a couple hours prior, stating that someone else's tattoo had priority over my touch up.Really?I've spent almost $1,000 in services over the past few months on my back and forearm tattoos and you're going to play that card?I'm so disappointed.UPDATE: Kylie just read this review and sent me an ugly email calling me immature (among other things) for making this review. There is a desk to sit at and speak to the employees, as well as browse their work via an iPad they have set up and mounted. If you're waiting for someone, there is a couch to sit at. I made an appointment with Kylie for a consultation. She was awesome and took my pictures, drew them out and then gave me an AWESOME Elephant tattoo. This was my first one and she made it great. She was patient and explained everything as she went along. She gave me instructions for after care and explained everything that could possibly come up with my new tattoo.The other guys there, Damian and Vince, were really great talking and just enjoying the laid back atmosphere. I brought my daughter here to get her tongue pierced. She was considering getting two piercings side by side and called a few piercing studios to discuss this beforehand. The advice she got on the phone from here was the most comprehensive and in depth and we got the impression that their main concern was her health and happiness with the piercing she was getting rather than what would make them the most money so we chose to come here. Upon arrival we were greeted by Danny who it turns out was the same guy she had spoken to on the phone. She opted to just get the single tongue piercing in the end but Danny still took the time to explain exactly what was different about doing the two different piercings and what the possible things which could go wrong were. He already mentioned on the phone that if you get two side by side then because of the anatomy of the tongue there is a slight possibility you can damage the nerves in the tongue and lose sensation or taste on part of your tongue, although this is very rare. We really appreciated his up front honesty about this, however small the risk it is something you need to know before you make your decision and it was something that NONE of the other studios we called had even mentioned. Everything was sterilised while he explained exactly what he was going to do, and his knowledgeable and friendly manner really helped set my daughter at ease. She opted to have the piercing positioned a little further back than most people have it and once it was done I was concerned that when her tongue swells up there might not be enough free room on the bar to allow for the swelling, as the tongue is a bit thicker there. Without a moments hesitation and with no prompting from us Danny immediately offered to swap the bar out for a slightly longer one to put our minds at ease. All told I was extremely happy with the friendly and professional attitude Danny exhibited throughout our whole dealings with the store. We have had piercings done in several studios around the world and this was easily the best experience we have ever had. I would recommend Danny to anyone. Read Less

I came here last night, Thursday, at around 8:15 pm and didn't have to wait too long because there was just one person in front of me. I was super nervous to get pierced, but Yesi was so sweet and reassuring that it really helped me calm down. I had a bunch of questions, but she was incredibly patient with me and clearly knowledgable about the subject, so I felt like I was in good hands. When it came time to do the piercing, she was extremely thorough and took the time to make sure everything was perfect. I really appreciated that for obvious reasons, but also because of the fact that it was so close to closing time and there were still some people waiting to go after me. Honestly I was really expecting the pain to be excruciating, but it just hurt for the second that the needle went through and the few seconds after it. By the time I got home they were a little sore, but when I woke up this morning I totally forgot that I'd gotten pierced less than 12 hours before and thought I had dreamt it! So far things are going really well! The prices are definitely fair in my opinion. The jewelry is high quality and the people who work there clearly know what they're doing and make you feel comfortable and safe during the process. My daughters had their noses pierced yesterday with a small rhinestone stud by Yesi.  She was very gentle with them and she gave them good suggestions on the most comfortable location, which was smart!  They were both nervous and she talked them through it, so she is both gentle and professional.     I was also having problems with an old piercing  site which she gave me tips how to heal, and helped me select a new Jewelry piece.       One of my daughters had been here previously to have her naval pierced by Danny.  She was also very happy with how he took care of her.     They may be a little more expensive than a couple of the other hermosa locations, but they are quality and worth it!  I feel safe having any work done here.     Thanks Yesi and Danny! Today, I went and got my septum piercing done by Elizabeth. Before I came to the shop, I was super nervous even though I have multiple piercings already. I came as a walk in, I didn't have to make an appointment. A guy in the front helped me right away & called over Elizabeth to get me started. I couldn't have been more happy to have Elizabeth as my piercer. She explained everything thoroughly even giving me background info on important septum facts and gave me a whole run through on cleaning & healing process. As she was piercing me she made sure I was comfortable and made it as quick and painless as possible. It didn't even hurt at all. After, she worked really hard to make sure the ball of my piercing was screwed in correctly and when it was all finished, I was so pleased with the results. I definitely recommend this place.
