This place exceeded my expectations! I was going to make an appt for days in advance but the head piercer was perfectly fine with piercing my nose an hour before closing. The service was about $35 (before I tipped 20%) and the gold jewelry piece was about $49. The receptionist and head piercer (I don't know his name unfortunately) were friendly and patient when answering my many questions and concerns. Easy spot to get a piercing or tattoo and full headshop with glass from industrial to art and all kinds of accessories, tobacco products, body jewelry, fun stuff galore. Sometimes the staff is a bit slow to help when it's busy or waiting for service can become a bit more painful than your tattoo by the time it's done, but it's kind of how it's been for years depending who is in shop that month etc. I love supporting my different artists so I recommend it to people wanting body art or mod, especially if you like a shop to go at all diff hours and find a chill spot where you can relax for your ink. Good for college style late night whims and also planned out larger pieces. Good selection of jewelry. Ok prices but some places much less for glass. Personally bummed bc one artist left and didn't come back with a half done piece. Things happen but it's a shame. It seems rundown from the outside and could use some better curb appeal but it takes a lot of abuse due to the location. This place definitely was my sunshine after my crappy day! I went to almost every shop in Santa Barbara and was treated horrible or got images drawn up that were embarrassing to even think to put on my body. I was so thrilled to have met bing bing and come to IV and I was so happy that I was able to get tatted up that day even though I didn't get time for my biggest piece I still got a couple tattoos I'd been wanting for a while and they definitely took care of me and made my day turn around. They vibe is right! Prices are amazing, customer service is A ONE . And I'd recommend everyone to come here, the woman artist there is amazing her work is dope and Im hoping she will help me with my hour glass and a few other pieces I want, as well as bing bing I'll be back to see them both for work! The guy who pierced my navel, Joey, did it crooked the first time around, then insisted that it was definitely not crooked. Luckily I had my friends with me who told me, yes, it really was crooked. So he pierced it again and it hurt. A lot. Blood everywhere. No discount even then. Honestly should've known better than to go here but watch out if you decide to get pierced here, especially from Joey, who claims he is a "perfectionist" but will deny he did anything wrong then loudly proclaim he is only human. An overall underwhelming experience. Honestly, with what the name of the shop implies, you’re gettin EXACTLY that kind of quality service. The jewelry sold is low quality stuff. I have designed and ordered my own custom pieces from BVLA (Body Vision Los Angeles), which is a quality jewelry maker with only the best materials. My first experience of the store: one of my custom made pieces had fallen out and I didn’t want to risk the hole closing or losing the jewelry, so I decided to hit my local piercing shop to have it put back in and tightened. No big deal, right? Wrong. I went there when they supposedly open- at 10 AM. I called several times. No sign of anyone. I waited around 30 minutes figuring they may have been running just a bit late. Everyone has their off days. It was nearing the time for my first class, so I left and returned at 11:30– still no one there. I called a couple more times— no answer. Miffed, I left and got lunch, and decided to call back around 2. Someone FINALLY was in the shop and said they would be opening at 2:30 but wasn’t sure if any artists would be coming in that day. I was tired of calling so decided to head over around 8. I walk in, and who I can only suppose was an employee was changing her baby’s diaper on the piercing table. First bad sign. Even if you wiped the table down well, that’s certainly not sanitary nor professional. I asked to have my jewelry put in, and possibly have it autoclaved. Turns out just putting in jewelry costs 5$, but I didn’t expect them not to charge. They said the autoclave would take 1 hour... l have a lot of experience with piercing shops, and I know that any standard autoclave does not take 1 hour to do it’s job. So I opted to just have it hand cleaned. I told the piercer that it’s a custom piece and she didn’t believe me. So when she went in to put the piece in, she put it in upside down and tightened it. Then she discovered she had put it in wrong and said she didn’t know what I had meant when I said my jewelry was a custom piece. Then she said my piercing is around 4 months old with how red it is... it’s a 2 year old piercing— fully healed— and was only red because she had tried to force the piece in upside down. Once I left the piercing room, i walked into the main reception area and the employees were just sitting there vaping and then looked at me and said, “what do you need”. I told them I needed to pay, and then I got the hell out of dodge. Next time my jewelry falls out and I can’t get it back in, I’d rather let the hole close and pay 40$ to get it repierced by someone at home who I trust and actually knows what they’re doing. Sandy is AMAZING!!! I was visiting from GA with less than 12 hrs left in the area. She took me in as a walk in and spent over 8 hrs with me to complete a polynesian style half sleeve. I stayed long after closing and she soldiered away until the job was done. She stayed focused, never complained, and was super nice and sweet the whole time. I got my very first tattoo here from by Amy Romeo (however she is now located in Los Angeles). I would suggest you talk to the artists of course first as they all have different styles. The vibe there is definitely very chill, I love the service I receive and it's very hygienic. I've gone plenty of times not just for myself but for other friends. Came in to get a small outline tattoo today around 8 pm. Some girls were ahead of me so I was told to wait until the artist was finished. After 30 minutes or so, he wrapped it up with the girls and cleaned his stuff while i patiently waited. He (blond old-ish guy with dreads) came up to me with a mouth full of food, still chewing, and just stood in front of me and when i reached out my hand to introduce myself he didn't even shake it. He told me he was trying to "eat quick" because he was supposed to "have dinner an hour and a half ago but people like you keep coming in one after another". Right off the bat he made it almost clear that he didn't wanna take me. I show him a tattoo i want and ask him to draw it up. It was a simple tattoo outline with triangles and lines and he told me it was too complicated to do even though he's definitely done WAY crazier stuff. Mine was a basic "college girl" design. Then when i asked "why? its mainly just triangles and lines" he responded "have u been doing this for a long time or have i? what do u know?" Rude. He didn't even try to draw it for me. Really disappointed because it was my birthday and i was getting my first tattoo and he was a total dick right off the bat and ruined it. It's not a midlife crisis, it's a celebration!!! On any other Saturday in Santa Barbara nine bodacious, beautiful, black women piling out of an eight passenger van would look like a wine tasting tour. But not this Saturday...and not these women. From the moment we walked  in the door, with our dear friend's veil blowing from the breeze, Peter and Jason were extremely gracious. They take walk-ins. (Sweet.) The wait was short. (Super sweet.) Some of us were along for the ride, others were down for the dare. Consent forms signed, we picked through blues, purples, opals, and sun bursts. After choosing our sparkly adornments we moved as one cohesive unit to the back room. The remainder of the experience we will leave to the imagination. Suffice it to say that it doesn't hurt...much. Don't go there to get pierced, friends. They used an incorrect earring to my hole. They used thin one, so it never got stabled and I had to stretch it in huge pain. I'm gonna tell you what happened. On the weekend in the beginning of April 2015, I got pierced on the upper area of ear rim (helix?) at this store. After I ordered what position I wanted to get pierced and signed the paper, I chose the earring which the staff recommended (Btw only one piercing costs $45). Then, the girl did a procedure, which was comfortable since she was communicative and had a good attitude. Although I thought it would hurt cuz that area is hard with cartilage, it didn't hurt that bad and even didn't bleed. I was satisfied with the service on that day. However, it never became stabled. It was sore a bit every time every day I touched. But I thought that was because this part of ear takes longer time to get stabled than earlobe, and endured until today. Today, on June 23rd, I had to take it off because I went to hair salon and it hurt every time she touched it (the stopper got off when she touched eventually, which means that earring was not secured enough as the first earring). I took it off cuz I thought it would be fine to do so since it had been two months. HOWEVER, as I tried to put it back on the hole about two hours later, it was unable to do it any more. The hole was becoming CLOSED. So, I ran into the pierce studio nearby and asked for help. This was the moment everything came clear. The owners got surprised as I showed the earring, saying "this one is not for the area, it's too thin and never get stabled, causing many problems. Where did you get pierced?!" And they suggested me to stretch the hole so that it would be easier to get stabled. I hurt so bad!!!! Cuz IV tattoo shop made too thin hole on my ear! They taught me how to deal with the hole in details, with antibacterial soap and H2O spray. Stretching was $25 and it cost around $45 with soap and spray, which is almost same price as this sketchy isla vista tattoo and pierce studio. The earring which the studio in NYC used for my ear today is thicker with a secure stopper on the back as peoper as the first earring, not like the earring u use everyday with a easy-to-take-off stopper(IV shop used this one to me). I feel secure right now. Now I'm really angry at the IV tattoo shop. Don't get pierced at this shop. I don't believe them. Doubt them with every single procedure they do to you if you go. This store is terrible because they do not know or do not do the correct process. Just don't go. I'm telling you for your safe piercing.Read Less

Yes I am writing a review for the Precious Slut!  Only because I can!   In a moment of weakness and poor judgment I found myself doing what is affectionately referred to as the "Loop" In Isla Vista.    Good for college students perhaps not so good for people their parent's age.   After a few places, a few pitchers and a few shots, after learning that I am some sort of flip cup savant. We decided to pop in to the P.S.    Fortunately this was like our fourth stop and not our tenth or I would probably look like the guy in Hangover 2!   But my friend needed to get a new hole somewhere.   I enjoyed being in a place that I would never have pictured myself.   A place with a name that makes me blush a little.   The people there were more than pleasant and from what I could see they do excellent work.   Because of the surrounding circumstances, my recollection is perhaps a little blurred, probably a feeling I can share with 95% of their customers. I'm not going to lie; the first experience I had at Precious Sluts was traumatic but the owners of the shop, specifically Vicki and "Slut"/Tracy, are one of the most dedicated shop owners I've ever encountered. After my sister posted the disappointing review on Yelp, they invited us back and expressed thousands of apologies. They introduced us to Sandi (awesome artist, patient, thorough, and comfortable), who then did the matching tattoos on us. It came out incredible, exactly how I requested, (I'm very detail oriented) and affordable. I am extremely happy.
