This place is pretty good, hence the 4 stars. My piercer, Sage, was really nice and welcoming and didn't give off the vibe of "Oh yeah I'm this educated piercer who knows so much more than you". I tend to get piercings as a souvenir of sorts from a place I've just visited. This is my first piercing I've gotten here at home in LA. Up to now, I've been pierced by 5 different people. A chunk of them had that attitude of "I mean... you can do whatever I want, but I'm the professional, so...". It's important to me, from a customer service stand point, that even if you're the professional, to be able to talk to your customer in a non-demeaning way that still educates them. And Sage does that, which I appreciate, and I had A LOT of questions. This alone would have me coming back. It was $60 for a navel piercing, including jewelry, which is okay. In terms of the work itself, Sage seemed like he wanted to do a thorough job, made sure the lining of the belly piercing was perfect, which is great. However, I wish he would have walked me through what was going to happen and what he was doing. If I wanted to know what he was holding, etc, I had to ask, which meant half the time I was asking things, which is fine, but it would have eased nerves if he told me what he was doing as he was doing it like, "Alright, you're gonna feel a slight pinch, but no big deal. Alright, I'm about to put the jewelry in, you should feel a slight sting, and then we'll be done." I've never had a naval piercing. I don't know what I'm supposed to feel. The whole time I was mentally clenching waiting for whatever unfamiliar pain/feelings was about to happen because the entire process is new to me. This is just a personal preference of mine. But that's not the reason it's not 5 stars. Honestly, Sage had a great attitude, and my piercing felt like nothing at the end of the day. I didn't even flinch. He answered all my questions (A WHOLE LOAD OF THEM) with a phenomenal attitude (best attitude from a piercer I've had so far, in fact) and was so friendly and gave me his full attention. On yelp, it says that the shop closes at 10, but I called at 8:55 and they said they were closing at 9. Maybe it's holiday hours? Not sure. Anyways, despite them almost closing, they kept the store open for me, which was really nice. Everything was already ready when I came in a few minutes later.I would revisit this shop for another piercing. The reason it's not 5 stars is because 1. While they were nice enough, I really do think they could amp it up on customer service. If it weren't for Sage, I would have felt unwelcome. And more importantly, 2. It smelled like weed when I came in. A pretty obvious odor. I'm very familiar with it. Made me question if any of them were high, which is not an anxiety you'd want with someone who's about to touch a needle to your skin. Overall, a decent place. Not a luxurious place or anything, but a loyal place. A kind of place you'd go to because you know it and it does the job well enough. To me, it feels like the entire energy of the shop was just tired and bored. My presence there seemed inconsequential, which I hope isn't a feeling you'd want your customer to feel. But like I said, it's pretty good work (my piercing was pretty darn painless, Sage was nice and friendly, and it looks great), and it's not like I'm paying $120 to have my feet massaged as I get pierced. It's a piercing. I'm very happy with it, and I dig Sage's energy. However, I can't shake that anxiety that came with smelling the place. Clearly, it wasn't enough a big anxiety for me to not go through with it, and I love my piercing, so decide for yourselves. I'll probably be coming back. Read Less
