I never write reviews unless I definitely feel like someone specific or an establishment needs praising. Golden State definitely delievered more than I expected. I was actually on my way to another tattoo shop closer to where I lived, but I decided to look for one around the area I was in that took walk-ins. This shop was the first to catch my eye. I am so glad I decided to come here instead. The shop itself had a great vibe upon walking in. Devin greeted us right away and helped me figure out how I wanted to cover this small tattoo I had on my ribs. He gave me an actual visual representation of what my tattoo would look like before even sketching it up with his iPad which was pretty dope! The tattooing process, aside from obvious pain, was great. He made sure I was comfortable and I was definitely a squirmer with this one. I admire the patience he had with me. I'm not a tattoo artist, but from what I heard I definitely know that people who move or squirm can be hella annoying! Overall, aside from being a good artist, Devin had great conversation which really did help the process. All the artists here are great from their artwork to their customer service. You can tell they really have a passion for their art and that's something I admire. The price was very reasonable and fair. Everyone should already know by now that artists only get a portion of what they charge. You're paying them for their art to be LIFE-LONG on your body and THEIR time and EXPERIENCE, so I hope that review I saw is ignored by others! For sure coming back to this shop for future pieces! My friend and I have many tattoos already, but they were covered up & so I assume they thought it was our first time. We were shy about asking bc it was kinda like our first matching one... any way, you could tell the guy who attended us noticed that & charged us 80$ for it... HA. Plus rude af service & I wouldn't want anyone to make me feel uncomfortable IF it was my first tattoo . Nice trying to scam us for 80$

I got a tattoo from Kevin a year ago and he did a phenomenal job. You could tell from his previous work that he has been doing this for a while and he was very professional. I chose an old school piece for deep sea diving that he had drawn up, on my thigh and it turned out great, not only that- he was fast. The shop was clean and the tools were as well. The next time I get back to the West Coast I will definitely be stopping by again to get more ink done from Kevin.

I can not recommend this place enough, specifically Taz. I first got tattooed by her in February and got one of her original pieces on my forearm and she not only is a great artist (she has a great portfolio of different paintings that are super beautiful and traditional style) but she also really knows anatomy well and what size pieces would look good where on the body and angles etc. She is super patient and will work with you to make sure that placement and details look nothing but the best! Today I just got the outline done for a custom piece I had her draw up and again she was super patient and meticulous. This piece was placed on my lower leg kind of closer to the ankle which is definitely not a fun place to get tattooed, but, she was very empathetic and understanding and always has my best interest at heart. Other than the actual artistry itself, she's also very prompt with replying to any inquiries I have and is very personable. The other tattooers at Golden State are also very personable and make you feel comfortable as well. I seriously could not be any happier and love recommending Taz and Golden State to everyone I talk too about tattoos.

So I've been sitting on my first tattoo idea for a few years now but just haven't had the chance or find the right artist all that time. But decided on a Disneyland trip to spontaneously walk in and get one done. After looking up everything in the area we concluded that Golden State was the best. I was helped out by Kevin who did a PHENOMENAL job working with the design I had. I was worried that the capital letters wouldn't line up that well with what I had in mind but he was able to take my idea and mold it perfectly to what I wanted. I decided to put it on my wrist fairly recently and it turned out even better than I expected! Kevin was great to talk to the whole time and made the overall experience fun to go through. Regardless getting tatted on your wrist hurts like hell but still worth it every second. Also to add the overall time and price especially for a walk in was fair too! Whole thing only costed $120 and of course tip for an amazing job to Kevin.If you're in the Disneyland/Garden Grove area and itching for a walk in or even schedule an appointment, I HIGHLY recommend coming into Golden State! Friendly and open to what you want and great at working around your idea and adjusting and preparing accordingly! I would also highly encourage to come check out some of Kevin's work that he keeps on the wall in the shop, all his designs or original and very creative!

Came in today to get my septum pierced and the process could not have been any more pleasant. Chef helped me out and I cannot express enough gratitude for how great he was. He was very down-to-earth and made me feel incredibly comfortable instantly. And most importantly, he is very knowledgeable about piercings and how to do them safely and successfully. Okay this review is like over a month due. But I cannot express how much I loved this place. I decided to get a post-graduation belly piercing here as a spur of the moment hurrah. This was right near my friend's place in GG and I decided "why not?" I was super scared at first, but the staff was super nice and accommodating. There was also a special summer deal going on, so I saved $10 off the original price. I wanted my friends to come with me, but apparently they recommended for them to stay behind the counter for sterility reasons. A little nerve wracking but understood.Chef did my piercing and I have to tell you...he is a wizard. I'm a sucker with pain and honestly I bracing myself. But somehow talking to him about the whole process was very comforting. He explained what I was doing and answering all my questions with such detail. Next thing I knew he told me he was done! WHAT. I mean I felt the clamp go over my navel but I barely felt any discomfort. After, Chef was SO nice to answer my paranoid post-care questions. He was very reassuring and made me feel like I was in good hands. "If there's anything wrong or if you have any further questions, you have my number!" Way to make me feel like an appreciated customer!HIGHLY recommend this place! And thank you SO MUCH Chef! I'll know that if I want a tatt or another piercing in the future, I'll come here! :)

Went in for a friend to get a tattoo and wound up getting one also. Devin Fitzgerald was the artist. We came up with a concept and design quickly, we were on the same page as far as what I wanted, which I've never had such ease with. The tattoo took a little over two hours and was the best work I've ever received. He is very skilled in multiple ways in regards to line work, shading, artistic structure, freehand work and a great personality to go with it. I really enjoyed my experience here and will absolutely go back.

My boyfriend and I decided to randomly get tattoos on a Sunday and this shop is around our neighborhood so we decided to check it out. Kevin was the tattoo artist on site. He greeted us and asked us what we were looking to get. The place looked clean. Kevin got his work station set and began working on my boyfriend, then it was my turn. I ended up getting an Ariel and Flounder tattoo and I absolutely loved it! Kevin was detail oriented and friendly. I felt comfortable with him and he was playing good music while we got our tattoos so that was cool! My boyfriend and I were both happy with our tattoos. We will be back with Kevin to get more work done.

Would not recommend this place at all. My friend and I came here last week to get our noses pierced and not only did Chef talk our ears off and acted like a no-it-all, but he pierced our noses incorrectly. He used a smaller gauge than what you're suppose to use to pierce a nose so our nose rings started to sink into our hole and cause an infection. He also wouldn't start us off with a hoop. My friend and I went a different place a few days after we got pierced by Chef to get our rings switched out and to have the piercing looked at. The guys who we saw were baffled by the piercing we received. Would not recommend this place at all. Very disappointed especially since this was my first nose piercing and my friends second time piercing her nose.

Today was my first time at, Golden State Tattoo. The environment in the shop was all around very chill and comfortable; nothing but good vibes there. My tattoo artist was, Tazebeth Tvrdevich. She works magic! I couldn't be more happy and more importantly, proud of the piece I received from her today. I sent her a brief description of what I wanted, along with a few questions, and two reference photos. Taz, got back to me with all my questions answered and a beautiful custom piece she sketched up for me. Taz, not only made for a comfortable and enjoyable experience for me but also for my friend who tagged along for my appointment. She exceeded any and all expectations I had for my tattoo and I am truly grateful and appreciative for every part of my experience today. Five stars all across! Tazebeth killed it! Can't wait for my next session with her!

I absolutely love this place. I got my nose pierced here and my sister got her belly button and both experiences were wonderful! The environment is teen friendly and very welcoming. I'm not sure who pierced me the first time but the piercer for my sister was Chef, who made the entire experience as easy going and enjoyable as possible. Would come here for future piercings!

Another spontaneous piercing night with my cousin. I've been wanting an industrial piercing for the longest time and so, she dragged me to finally get one.We were greeted by Chef/Adam who pierced our ears. I got an industrial and my cousin got her tragus pierced. He went over the procedure very clearly and told us what we needed to do in order to take care of our piercings and how to clean them after. What I liked about Chef a lot was that he was VERY reassuring and he's one of the few piercers I know who cares deeply about his clients after he performs piercings/tattoos on them. He gave us his card with his number and told us to keep in contact with him if anything happens. I really liked that he cares a lot!My industrial piercing with jewelry was $35. It was such a steel price because of the sale/deal that is going on. (Call and check if it's still going on before you go in!) Overall, it went by very fast and careful. I enjoyed Chef as my piercer! Love this place, thank you for being gentle and caring!

Nervous as hell driving there. The second I walked in they greeted me.Asked if their piercer Chef was still in, he was. (I had come in the day before and they let me know he'd be there.) Then I realized I was talking to him. Suuuper chill, my nervousness completely went away thanks to how he went about it.We kept talking through the whole process (which was legit and clean af) and pretty much distracted me from any pain at all. He suggested the ideal angle for my industrial piercing, regarding safety and comfiness. Told me how to take care of it, and let me know that I could call if I needed help or anything! Everything went a lot better than expected. Also, the price was lower than I expected so that was great. If all goes well with my healing, I'm coming back to get the other side done! Thanks a lot @chefatom !

Never been inside a tattoo shop before so I had no idea what to expect. I went here for a naval piercing and right when I stepped in, I was immediately greeted and served. Lucky for me, Chef was the person helping me that day! I heard great reviews about him and so I knew I would be served well that day. He helped me go over the procedure, filling out a consent form, and even helped me choose the jewelry! I was able to choose from the nicest he has to offer and I ended up with a silver gem. The procedure went by quick just like what Chef said. While he was working on me, he went over the aftercare procedures and I was so distracted on listening, I didn't feel any of the pain. By the time he finished talking, I was surprised he was also finished with my piercing!Chef was careful and sincere with every information he was giving me and I really appreciate all of it. My first experience was great and I'm definitely coming back for my first tattoo! Naval Piercing: $43-$45 Prices are listed on their website. Check them out! Great service and people!

Also got my nose pierced by Ludy, he's such a cool guy. Healed faster than any other piercing I have and didn't get infected. Everyone is really welcoming. The first time I came to this shop I was looking for another artist who had just happened to move to another shop. While I figured stuff out I was offered a seat on their couch to watch cartoons with them. A nice group of stand up guys.

We were visiting the area and just walked in and they were able to take care of us and get us tattooed. All the guys were friendly, professional and clean. The owner John was so nice he even gave us a ride back to our hotel so we didn't have to call a cab. I can't say he'll do that as a service for everyone but it was great customer care. They don't have a wide variety of jewelry, but it's a nice little place. I got my nose pierced for $30 including jewelry. The piercer was nice, but honestly he didn't tell me how to take care of it, he didn't ask if I wanted a stud or a ring and he just gave me a stud with a diamond in it. Thanks for the options dude. It just seemed like he didn't give a crap about me at all and just wanted to pierce it really quick and get his tip. He wasn't mean or anything, but he definitely wasn't making the effort to make me feel comfortable or make himself seem somewhat knowledgeable about piercings. Also, I've been getting piercings for about 10 years now and I thought that getting a little diamond in my nose would be nothing. It hurt way more than I thought and I got pale, lightheaded and almost passed out. He didn't even ask me if I was okay. Thanks for caring. This place needs to get it together or they're headed towards a lawsuit if they mess up.

Right when I walked in to Golden State tattoo I was immediately approached and took care of.Shae Fitzgerald tattooed the back side of my left arm. He definitely has an eye for detail, his color and line work blew my mind. I am now a loyal customer of Shae's.

I never write reviews unless I definitely feel like someone specific or an establishment needs praising. Golden State definitely delievered more than I expected. I was actually on my way to another tattoo shop closer to where I lived, but I decided to look for one around the area I was in that took walk-ins. This shop was the first to catch my eye. I am so glad I decided to come here instead. The shop itself had a great vibe upon walking in. Devin greeted us right away and helped me figure out how I wanted to cover this small tattoo I had on my ribs. He gave me an actual visual representation of what my tattoo would look like before even sketching it up with his iPad which was pretty dope! The tattooing process, aside from obvious pain, was great. He made sure I was comfortable and I was definitely a squirmer with this one. I admire the patience he had with me. I'm not a tattoo artist, but from what I heard I definitely know that people who move or squirm can be hella annoying! Overall, aside from being a good artist, Devin had great conversation which really did help the process. All the artists here are great from their artwork to their customer service. You can tell they really have a passion for their art and that's something I admire. The price was very reasonable and fair. Everyone should already know by now that artists only get a portion of what they charge. You're paying them for their art to be LIFE-LONG on your body and THEIR time and EXPERIENCE, so I hope that review I saw is ignored by others! For sure coming back to this shop for future pieces! Thanks again Devin! I will update my review with a healed picture!

I got a tattoo from Kevin a year ago and he did a phenomenal job. You could tell from his previous work that he has been doing this for a while and he was very professional. I chose an old school piece for deep sea diving that he had drawn up, on my thigh and it turned out great, not only that- he was fast. The shop was clean and the tools were as well. The next time I get back to the West Coast I will definitely be stopping by again to get more ink done from Kevin.

I can not recommend this place enough, specifically Taz. I first got tattooed by her in February and got one of her original pieces on my forearm and she not only is a great artist (she has a great portfolio of different paintings that are super beautiful and traditional style) but she also really knows anatomy well and what size pieces would look good where on the body and angles etc. She is super patient and will work with you to make sure that placement and details look nothing but the best! Today I just got the outline done for a custom piece I had her draw up and again she was super patient and meticulous. This piece was placed on my lower leg kind of closer to the ankle which is definitely not a fun place to get tattooed, but, she was very empathetic and understanding and always has my best interest at heart. Other than the actual artistry itself, she's also very prompt with replying to any inquiries I have and is very personable. The other tattooers at Golden State are also very personable and make you feel comfortable as well. I seriously could not be any happier and love recommending Taz and Golden State to everyone I talk too about tattoos.

So I've been sitting on my first tattoo idea for a few years now but just haven't had the chance or find the right artist all that time. But decided on a Disneyland trip to spontaneously walk in and get one done. After looking up everything in the area we concluded that Golden State was the best. I was helped out by Kevin who did a PHENOMENAL job working with the design I had. I was worried that the capital letters wouldn't line up that well with what I had in mind but he was able to take my idea and mold it perfectly to what I wanted. I decided to put it on my wrist fairly recently and it turned out even better than I expected! Kevin was great to talk to the whole time and made the overall experience fun to go through. Regardless getting tatted on your wrist hurts like hell but still worth it every second. Also to add the overall time and price especially for a walk in was fair too! Whole thing only costed $120 and of course tip for an amazing job to Kevin.If you're in the Disneyland/Garden Grove area and itching for a walk in or even schedule an appointment, I HIGHLY recommend coming into Golden State! Friendly and open to what you want and great at working around your idea and adjusting and preparing accordingly! I would also highly encourage to come check out some of Kevin's work that he keeps on the wall in the shop, all his designs or original and very creative!

Okay this review is like over a month due. But I cannot express how much I loved this place. I decided to get a post-graduation belly piercing here as a spur of the moment hurrah. This was right near my friend's place in GG and I decided "why not?" I was super scared at first, but the staff was super nice and accommodating. There was also a special summer deal going on, so I saved $10 off the original price. I wanted my friends to come with me, but apparently they recommended for them to stay behind the counter for sterility reasons. A little nerve wracking but understood.Chef did my piercing and I have to tell you...he is a wizard. I'm a sucker with pain and honestly I bracing myself. But somehow talking to him about the whole process was very comforting. He explained what I was doing and answering all my questions with such detail. Next thing I knew he told me he was done! WHAT. I mean I felt the clamp go over my navel but I barely felt any discomfort. After, Chef was SO nice to answer my paranoid post-care questions. He was very reassuring and made me feel like I was in good hands. "If there's anything wrong or if you have any further questions, you have my number!" Way to make me feel like an appreciated customer!HIGHLY recommend this place! And thank you SO MUCH Chef! I'll know that if I want a tatt or another piercing in the future, I'll come here! :)

Went in for a friend to get a tattoo and wound up getting one also. Devin Fitzgerald was the artist. We came up with a concept and design quickly, we were on the same page as far as what I wanted, which I've never had such ease with. The tattoo took a little over two hours and was the best work I've ever received. He is very skilled in multiple ways in regards to line work, shading, artistic structure, freehand work and a great personality to go with it. I really enjoyed my experience here and will absolutely go back.

My boyfriend and I decided to randomly get tattoos on a Sunday and this shop is around our neighborhood so we decided to check it out. Kevin was the tattoo artist on site. He greeted us and asked us what we were looking to get. The place looked clean. Kevin got his work station set and began working on my boyfriend, then it was my turn. I ended up getting an Ariel and Flounder tattoo and I absolutely loved it! Kevin was detail oriented and friendly. I felt comfortable with him and he was playing good music while we got our tattoos so that was cool! My boyfriend and I were both happy with our tattoos. We will be back with Kevin to get more work done.

Would not recommend this place at all. My friend and I came here last week to get our noses pierced and not only did Chef talk our ears off and acted like a no-it-all, but he pierced our noses incorrectly. He used a smaller gauge than what you're suppose to use to pierce a nose so our nose rings started to sink into our hole and cause an infection. He also wouldn't start us off with a hoop. My friend and I went a different place a few days after we got pierced by Chef to get our rings switched out and to have the piercing looked at. The guys who we saw were baffled by the piercing we received. Would not recommend this place at all. Very disappointed especially since this was my first nose piercing and my friends second time piercing her nose.

Today was my first time at, Golden State Tattoo. The environment in the shop was all around very chill and comfortable; nothing but good vibes there. My tattoo artist was, Tazebeth Tvrdevich. She works magic! I couldn't be more happy and more importantly, proud of the piece I received from her today. I sent her a brief description of what I wanted, along with a few questions, and two reference photos. Taz, got back to me with all my questions answered and a beautiful custom piece she sketched up for me. Taz, not only made for a comfortable and enjoyable experience for me but also for my friend who tagged along for my appointment. She exceeded any and all expectations I had for my tattoo and I am truly grateful and appreciative for every part of my experience today. Five stars all across! Tazebeth killed it! Can't wait for my next session with her!

Another spontaneous piercing night with my cousin. I've been wanting an industrial piercing for the longest time and so, she dragged me to finally get one.We were greeted by Chef/Adam who pierced our ears. I got an industrial and my cousin got her tragus pierced. He went over the procedure very clearly and told us what we needed to do in order to take care of our piercings and how to clean them after. What I liked about Chef a lot was that he was VERY reassuring and he's one of the few piercers I know who cares deeply about his clients after he performs piercings/tattoos on them. He gave us his card with his number and told us to keep in contact with him if anything happens. I really liked that he cares a lot!My industrial piercing with jewelry was $35. It was such a steel price because of the sale/deal that is going on. (Call and check if it's still going on before you go in!) Overall, it went by very fast and careful. I enjoyed Chef as my piercer! Love this place, thank you for being gentle and caring!

Nervous as hell driving there. The second I walked in they greeted me.Asked if their piercer Chef was still in, he was. (I had come in the day before and they let me know he'd be there.) Then I realized I was talking to him. Suuuper chill, my nervousness completely went away thanks to how he went about it.We kept talking through the whole process (which was legit and clean af) and pretty much distracted me from any pain at all. He suggested the ideal angle for my industrial piercing, regarding safety and comfiness. Told me how to take care of it, and let me know that I could call if I needed help or anything! Everything went a lot better than expected. Also, the price was lower than I expected so that was great. If all goes well with my healing, I'm coming back to get the other side done! Thanks a lot @chefatom !

Never been inside a tattoo shop before so I had no idea what to expect. I went here for a naval piercing and right when I stepped in, I was immediately greeted and served. Lucky for me, Chef was the person helping me that day! I heard great reviews about him and so I knew I would be served well that day. He helped me go over the procedure, filling out a consent form, and even helped me choose the jewelry! I was able to choose from the nicest he has to offer and I ended up with a silver gem. The procedure went by quick just like what Chef said. While he was working on me, he went over the aftercare procedures and I was so distracted on listening, I didn't feel any of the pain. By the time he finished talking, I was surprised he was also finished with my piercing!Chef was careful and sincere with every information he was giving me and I really appreciate all of it. My first tattoo last night, the entire shop was so nice! And in particular, Chef, was outstanding and he was so cool! I will definetly be back for next ones!

Great tattoo shop. Devin is the man, and his apprentice Kevin is awesome too. Both are very talented. Loved seeing all of Devins personal art work at his station, this guy can paint and tattoo!! Also got my nose pierced by Ludy, he's such a cool guy. Healed faster than any other piercing I have and didn't get infected. Everyone is really welcoming. The first time I came to this shop I was looking for another artist who had just happened to move to another shop. While I figured stuff out I was offered a seat on their couch to watch cartoons with them. A nice group of stand up guys.

We were visiting the area and just walked in and they were able to take care of us and get us tattooed. All the guys were friendly, professional and clean. The owner John was so nice he even gave us a ride back to our hotel so we didn't have to call a cab. I can't say he'll do that as a service for everyone but it was great customer care. If we're ever back in town needing work this is where we'll go! And John if your ever in our town visiting sis hit us up! Thank you guys.

They don't have a wide variety of jewelry, but it's a nice little place. I got my nose pierced for $30 including jewelry. The piercer was nice, but honestly he didn't tell me how to take care of it, he didn't ask if I wanted a stud or a ring and he just gave me a stud with a diamond in it. Thanks for the options dude. It just seemed like he didn't give a crap about me at all and just wanted to pierce it really quick and get his tip. He wasn't mean or anything, but he definitely wasn't making the effort to make me feel comfortable or make himself seem somewhat knowledgeable about piercings. Also, I've been getting piercings for about 10 years now and I thought that getting a little diamond in my nose would be nothing. It hurt way more than I thought and I got pale, lightheaded and almost passed out. He didn't even ask me if I was okay. Thanks for caring. This place needs to get it together or they're headed towards a lawsuit if they mess up.

A talented tattoo artist who doesn't charge an arm and a leg is hard to come by. Right when I walked in to Golden State tattoo I was immediately approached and took care of.Shae Fitzgerald tattooed the back side of my left arm. He definitely has an eye for detail, his color and line work blew my mind. I am now a loyal customer of Shae's.
