Recently I went to island ink for an idea I had for a tattoo. John was great, he had a drawing rendered quickly and gave me the quote by phone. On the day of the work he took his time and made sure everything was perfect. My time ran much longer than the quote but he didn't care as he was enjoying doing the piece. Even though the session went over the time he quoted, he didn't charge me any extra and said it was his pleasure to perform the work. He quoted me $450 and the time would have been at least $600 in ink. Because he was a stand up guy and stuck to his quote I felt compelled to show my gratitude by tipping him an extra $100 because the work was great! I already have him working on a new piece that will be part of a full chest piece. He gave me a quote already and started on the drawing. While there he will touch up some ink that fell out on the last one. Can't wait to have him finish the entire piece. He is a master of the art of tattooing. The facility was super clean and organized. John did our tattoo at last minute, which I was quite grateful for, especially since he didn't even have plans to stay any longer at the shop. He was super friendly and talkative, which helped us ease our minds from getting the tattoos.We mentioned that our tattoos were from a Korean song, and how we enjoyed kpop so he even played kpop as we got our tattoos! I went to Island Ink with my friend to get a daith piercing, and my friend got a tattoo. The piercing and my friend's tattoo went okay but as we were leaving I was convinced by my friend and the piercer/tattoo girl to get a tattoo as well since I had an idea I kind of wanted. I showed the girl a picture I doodled on a post it note and asked her to fix it and make it look nicer which she said she "didn't need" to do. The fact that she rejected my request should have been the red flag that told me to just leave, but for some reason I kept going and ended up with possibly the shittiest tattoo I have ever seen. The lines are totally blown out and crooked, and it honeslty looks like it was done by a child. Now I have to waste money to get it laser-removed or covered by a better artist. Please do not get a tattoo here unless it is very very basic and requires essentially no skill at all. Read Less

Got a tattoo on my wrist in October at Clovis Ink. Artist told me to come back in 6-weeks for a touch up. The tattoo was a word--SAUDADE. When I went back he couldn't read the word. I couldn't either. He said that was as good as it was going to get; told me he couldn't tattoo over because it wouldn't take. Today I got my first tattoo from Island Ink Tattoo. John is an amazing artist as well as a real nice guy. He took the idea I gave him for what I wanted and made it so much better. First of all, as someone who is super awkward, tattoo shops are usually not fun for me. Almost every shop I've gone into, the people working there have some kind of attitude like they're better than you or something and it's just uncomfortable. That being said, I walked into Island Ink yesterday with my cousin who needed to get a stuck helix piercing out of her cartilage. The piercer was instantly so friendly and welcoming and we felt at home. Not only did she take amazing care of my cousin's super botched piercing, but she made sure to do everything possible to make sure she was comfortable. And she was SO FRIENDLY the entire time. I wish more people in the industry would have the attitude she did. She really went above and beyond for us. I see no reason to ever go to any other shop in town for a piercing ever again, because I was so impressed with Madam Ink's work as well as her welcoming personality. Don't go anywhere else to get your ink. John did an awesome job. I went in with an idea and his vision made it happen. Brudah is kind and is all about family and he makes good conversation. I've been wanting to get my tat done for years now but I'm glad I didn't do it until now. John welcomes anything you want to ink but if your looking for the island / Polynesian / tribal ink, this dude is the one that you need to go to.
