I went to Freedom Tattoo for my first tattoo. My brother got one, too. Out artist was Nolan. I'm not really part of the tattoo culture, but I love them and I love art. It can be really intimidating in tattoo shops and while shopping for an artist I felt this in a lot of shops. But at Freedom, everyone was so friendly, warm and helpful. Nolan had tons of patience (not to mention amazing artistic skill) and was thorough in the process. He explained everything and checked in with me while it was happening. Everyone is different and it plays a big part in perception and taking that into account, the experience getting a tattoo here felt more comfortable than when I got my ears pierced! Freedom Tattoo is everything you could want in a tattoo shop. They are obsessive about making sure absolutely nothing gets contaminated and pay attention to every detail. The artists are decent. The service is less than decent. I would always come in for my appointments on time, but they would start at least 30 minutes later because the artist was preoccupied talking to a friend or co-worker. The artists aren't the friendliest and have this arrogance to them. The shop itself feels crowded and there is no privacy. The whole vibe of the shop isn't right and it's just not somewhere I want to spend my money. Read Less

Got my nose pierced by the lovely Misty back in August. Within 5 minutes I was in, out, and done and it didn't even hurt too bad.It cost about $45.It healed very well and looks fantastic! Will be back here to get more work done eventually.Thank you Freedom Tattoo! Read Less

Shop is very clean and very friendly, i trusted them to my hands and im stoked I did. The work came out clean and im just as happy with it today as I was two years ago when I first got it.  Owner Geoff Wells hung out with us the entire time and personality and love for tattoos made the experience even better.  I will get many more of my tattoos from Freedom Tattoo and recommend you do to. Everytime I go to get ink I go Freedom Tattoo. Keeli has been my artist since my first work. He is so damn good at what he does and way down to earth. All my friends go there to get there work done by someone who works in that shop. I don't think the pricing is overboard at all. If I could recommend anyone in Santa Cruz County, it would be anyone from this shop without a doubt. All their work is clean sterile and nobody looks like a scumbag. Read Less

Needing to feed my ink addiction, I went to Freedom Tattoo.I was getting another finger tat, and I get nervous since it's an area easily noticed. I totally needed someone I could trust. I went to Keoni and he did a great job! Will definitely be back.As I was waiting to get my design drawn up, I browsed the books. Everyone had great work, some great cover-up jobs too. When it came time to get my first tattoo I decided to shop around at some local places. I went to a few and settled on Freedom Tattoo . I'm so glad I did !!! From the moment i walked in I liked it. The girl at the desk was super sweet and answered every question I had. I brought a sketch with me and she and another guy took the time to really question me and help me with the idea of what i wanted. They take a $30 deposit and draw up the tattoo for you and then the $30 goes right towards the cost of the tattoo. The rate at the time I went (10-2-09) was $100 an hr and if its under an hour they start at $60. They have two artists currently working there Misty and Keelie (not sure of the spelling) . Both have like 10+ years and have lots of artwork to show off their skills. I went with Misty and am so happy with the work she did. It was everything I wanted and more. Everything was clean and she made sure i saw everything was sterile,brand new, and fully explained each step before and as it was happening. I felt relaxed and right at home the whole time. Freedom tattoo is right next to a bike shop almost right on the corner of Freedom blvd and Greenvalley Road. Its just a small shop but the people there are great ! I went to freedom tattoo with an idea I had come up with for a shoulder tattoo. The staff was extreamly helpful and skilled, and the artist was very light handed . They, following the steralized setup, not only gave me one of the best quality tattoos, and I have several, but they also did so well that my husband decided to get one too. In fact, the experience was so great that I'm taking my mother there to get her a tattoo. It will be her first and I can't think of anywhere else that I'd rather take her. Read Less
