I'm sad it has to come to this, but I need others to be aware of what my last experience was. I had an appointment with an artist at this shop yesterday that I cleared my entire day for only to leave extremely disappointed and upset. My tattoo appointment time was at 1:00 yesterday and my artist was running late like he usually does. I had scheduled this appointment with him 2 months ago and explained to him exactly what I wanted and even gave him a $100 deposit. A couple days before my appointment I messaged him on Instagram telling him I was so excited to see what he had drawn out for me. He replied back telling me he doesn't have me on his books and I never emailed him to set the date and time. Really?? We had a whole conversation about it and it took me having to send him screenshots of our emails back and fourth to each other for him to remember who I was let alone what I wanted. When I arrived at the shop he was late and I waited (I live 30 minutes away and I was on time, in the rain). When he finally arrived he had me wait an hour while he was in the back doing whatever he was doing. He finally came out to show me what he had, and put the tracing on me and told me he wanted it to dry and to have it sit for a couple minutes. A couple minutes turned into another hour and at this point I was very upset. I have enough tattoos and at least 100 hours of work on my body to know that he wasn't back there working on my tattoo especially since the tracing was already on me! I then decided to go on Instagram to see if he was active and sure enough he was. By 3:00 I decided to get my purse and take my business to someone who will actually appreciate it. Shame on you for how you treated me and any other person you have done this to. I waited months to do this and was so excited about it. If you're having personal issues, leave it out of the work place, coming from one professional to another! You should never make a customer wait 2 hours for their appointment. Both of my tattoos have been done by Brad  Kinney and he always does an amazing job. Pays lots of attention to detail and takes lots of pride in his work, and both times he has definitely blown away my expectations with some amazing work. I found Dana Point Tattoo by following Josh on Instagram. I loved his work, made an appointment through his assistant, even had to reschedule my appointment once, and they were super accommodating. The shop is clean, I was greeted immediately, and everyone was so nice and professional. Now to my tattoo, Josh was so nice, what he sketched was better than I had in mind, and my tattoo looks amazing! Everyone wants to know who did it, and his prices are incredibly reasonable, especially for his level of talent. Hands down best tattoo experience I've ever had from beginning to end, and I could not be more happy with how it turned out! Justin is the best tattoo artist I have encountered. Not only kind and welcoming, but a great artist. His detail and line work is off the charts great. He even went above and beyond what I was asking. This is the best tattoo I have ever had. I should have been going to him all along and am now sad that I haven't. If you're looking for someone who is helpful and will knock your tattoo out of the park, go to him. Another plus is the shop is awesome as well, modern design and air conditioned. The other artists that were working at the time also seemed to be top notch. And while I was there they had two walk ins. Yes they scheduled them, but it's because they're good. I found this shop from an instagram account of one of the artists. The artist sent out a blast on instagram saying he had openings due to cancellations and to hit him up. I sent an email to the artist and they never responded (2 weeks) but since they are so close to me I figured I could just hit up the shop and try and request a consultation. Wrong. The phone number listed on both the website and the yelp page directs to a cell phone number which was off. For two days apparently. Still enthusiastic about making this happen, I figured "maybe I'll just go down there and try and make an appointment in person." Wrong. I went down there and was treated with a "what are you doing here?" Kind of stare. Someone asked me if they could help me and I let them know I was interested in making an appointment with the artist I wanted. The artist in question then rolled his eyes and I was told to wait a few. I even said I just wanted to leave my contact info since he was in the middle of a tattoo but they assured me it'd just be a few. When I finally meet the artist, keep in mind this has been building up for about 3 weeks, I tell him I wanted work done by him, and he asks where, and I said "ideally it could cover up this band tattoo I got on my forearm." He then went into how he's not taking new clients right now, and how he wouldn't even touch that tattoo space until after I had it lazered, etc... Now I can understand not being able to work with the space. I was open to a back piece, or leg, but after the convo all that changed. I had wanted the guys work because I admired it. I admired it enough to want it on my body forever. That admiration was met with dismissal, contradictory statements (instagram post advertising openings for tattoos and then blatantly stating otherwise) and a pretty harsh treatment of my existing tattoo. I see bad or questionable tattoos all the time. I couldn't imagine as an artist making statements like the ones he did. Bummer. He passively said if anything opens up I could leave my contact info on a scratch piece of paper, but I was already checked out by then. Pretty terrible experience beginning to end. Read Less

This review is for Justin!I've been following Justin on Instagram for awhile and have always been obsessed with his work and style. I saw that he posted he was booking for September so I immediately emailed him and sent him my deposit locking in my appointment with him for the 26th. I didn't ask about pricing because honestly the price doesn't matter, I was just super stoked I managed to get an appointment in haha plus my birthday was the 24th so it was a birthday gift to myself!Anyways fast forward to the appointment. The shop itself was super nice. I love how they decorated it. Everything was extremely clean and well organized. According to my friend who came along, "they have the cleanest bathroom ever I was stoked" Haha. Justin was SUPER friendly and easy to talk to which put me at ease. Very accommodating to whatever needs I needed aka needing to stretch, reposition myself, bathroom, etc. I also loved that he was super light handed! The entire session was about 5hours but it honestly went by with a breeze. I've never felt so comfortable with an artist before, definitely can't wait to get other work done by him! I loved that I gave him the idea of what I wanted and he exceeded my expectations. He showed me the sketch and told me he'd add detail as he goes and I'm SO OBSESSED. The detail was incredible. Where's the 6-star button on this thing? Being tattooed at Dana Point Tattoo by Matt Tischler was so fun and chill, and he's a professional to boot. The new studio is pristine and pretty, but you're gonna have to make sure you open the correct door to the left of the Dana Point window sign since they're in close quarters with a piercing shop.With booking an appointment with Matt, he accepts submissions through email and is fully booked for months at a time, but I will tell ya, he is 1,000% worth the wait because he will adorn you with an exceptional work of art. Not to mention, he's also extremely attentive and hilarious, and gives some solid relationship advice (seriously). Thanks for a memorable time, guys. Good variety of styles and incredible work being produced daily. Justin Hobson does the best fine line work/color work I've seen in person (heavy shading, watercolor, whatever). Theres a really cool vibe when all the artists are together working. It's up a flight of stairs (not handicap accessible). Little smoking balcony out front. Small, super clean shop with some of the best inking talent in OC no lie, and fair prices for the work that they do. Make an appointment, some of the artists are booked for months!Read Less

My friend and her sister got their tattoos here. After looking at Justin's work on instagram and close examination of my friend's, I concluded that I wanted my tattoo done by him, too. My boyfriend and I decided on our designs and then emailed Justin. He was quick to email us back and tell us when to come in for a consoltation. The drive here is a bit brutal; I live about an hour away from here. The drive here is straight forward until tou get near the tattoo place. The parking lot is in the back and I do not recommend parking on the curb. The consoltation was quick and easy. Justin asked us where we wanted our tattoos, what deisngs, sizes, and we made an appointment with him. Of course we had to make a deposit as well, not a problem. About 3 weeks later, my boyfriend and I go get our tattoo.Justin is a great artist and he is very calm and confident in his work. He made it painless for me and was very professional. His work was clean and he was mindful that it was our first time getting tattoos. He finished our tattoos faster than we thought, but was very skilled and detailed. The shop overall is clean and all the artists are dope and down to Earth. I highly recommend this place for mixtures of color and line work. Read Less
