Costa Mesa tattoo is amazing... I couldn't believe the quality of work that comes out of that little shop, but when you have Headliners like Steve Schultz you know there's some quality ain't getting thrown down in that place. I've seen amazing work from more than just Steve Schultz but I'm a little jaded since he's the one who's done the work on me. It's well-lit and comfortable and centrally located and easy to get to. Worst experience I have ever encountered in a tattoo shop. The artists were very ignorant and seemed to lack all knowledge concerning blood born pathogens. The hesitant nature of this shop dealing with somebody with any form of a disease clearly reflects the lack of cleanliness, sterility, and safety protocol that is not found here. If you care about your health do not get a tattoo here. Find another shop or another artist that has working knowledge and training. An artist should tattoo every body the same way, all precautions should be taken the same. These guys are a mess, very sketchy shop, please shop around before you decide on this place. Great service!Been mulling over getting a tattoo for the past year and finally came into this shop. I was looking on different shop reviews on YELP for where to get a tattoo, but after seeing such good ratings and a referral from a friend (she got a beautiful peacock feather!), I came here with such excitement.I brought in my design, came in on a late Wednesday night, and came out happy as ever. The shop was full of friendly tattoo artists, and what was great was no judgement was passed when I just said I wanted something simple. Sterling did my tattoo and was so nice about everything. From making sure I liked the design, seeing if I could handle the pain, and being really clear about instructions for how to take care of the final product. He said that if I ever needed anything in the future, don't hesitate to ask. I really appreciated the upfrontness about everything that Sterling talked about. Went in late last Sunday evening.  Chris Bonin was eating dinner and on his way out.  Without hesitation he stopped to listen to me and agreed to stay and give me my first tattoo (age 43!).  It was just some personalized script but he did a FANTASTIC job and even better than the art work was his costumer service.  He never once made me feel uncomfortable and was up front and honest about the whole process!The shop itself sits in an interesting spot off 19th st in Costa Mesa.  Totally off the beaten path but do NOT let that fool you.  This was a very clean shop with some good dudes working there.  Most definitely will go back there for work. A friend of the Michael Unit has several tattoos by Steve Schultz.  The guy is an artistic genius.  So like an idiot, I show up without an appointment expecting him to be there.  Color me stupid.  Or tattoo me stupid.  Whatever.A friend of mine was visiting from New Yawk and wanted her first tattoo. She ended up with Efraim, who did a fairly extensive and colorful interpretation of what she wanted.  She was pleased and I would consider the work very professional.  She returned at a later date for another tattoo and he again did the work.I opted to have a less experienced artist give me a tattoo of the Flying Spaghetti Monster on the back of my neck in shades of blue and brown.  It turned out aight, but it's a little off center.  Good thing my hair covers it up most of the time.  I'm okay with it.  It's not something that requires fixing, but it's certainly not a show piece.  And his Noodly Goodness should always be well represented, bro.Dudes, get a new sofa for the waiting room.  It's painful to sit on.  You can find better quality sitting on the side of the road, trust me. I have had many tattoos over the years....I have over 50 hours of tattoing on my body (not that its alot) and I have dealt with a number artists over the years. Let me say that dealing with Steve Schultze is a treat.  Not only was his work "Over the Top" and beyond expectations but he was so professional it was almost scary!The shop really does have a cool yet freindly/inviting feel to it. The rest of the staff was very friendly as well....none of the usual Tattoo shop attitude that you can get other places!I will most definantly be getting the rest of my tattoos from Steve! Read Less

Two years ago I knew exactly what tattoo I wanted and where on my body I wanted to get it. Now I just needed to find someone to do it. I have a lot of friends with tattoos but none of them could recommend someone that they loved. Finally I met a guy with the most beautiful tattoos I'd ever seen. This led me to Justin at Costa Mesa tattoo. My experience was amazing! He took the time to work on every detail of the design and made me feel completely comfortable that the tattoo I'd have for life would be exactly what I wanted. It came out beautiful and I've received so many compliments! Two years later it still looks great and I went back last night to get my second tattoo. All the artists are amazingly talented and they really make you feel comfortable. Everything is 100% clean, the work is beyond gorgeous and the guys aren't jerks! What more could you ask for? Great Tattoo Shop!  Everyone there is very cool so it doesn't matter who you go to for your ink.  All the artist are great and very down to earth. So I told the artist what i wanted and we made an appointment. When I showed up he said he forgot I even wanted it and didnt do anything to prepare. Regardless, I went to another guy in the shop, and he booked me for noon on a tuesday. I sent him an email describing exactly what I wanted and 6 reference pics he could print out or whatever to do the drawing. I got a new job ten days before the appointment so I wrote him an email and tried to reschedule for the weekend. He told me he couldn't reschedule by computer, I had to call him. So I called, and he couldn't fit me in for another two weeks. I booked my new appointment. When I came for the new appointment he said he didnt think I was going to show and never drew up my pic.
