I was hoping to score a walk-in appointment on our last day of vacation. I called 3 other shops and the girl who answered the phone at Blue Collar was super friendly. She couldn't guarantee a spot, but suggested a possible time to try. When we showed up, she greeted us and we talked about design and placement. She introduced our artist, Jason, who gave us a very fair price quote. Jason jumped right in and got to work on our ink. It was my friend's first tattoo and he definitely put her at ease. He talked and joked with us during the tattoo and when it was finished, he gave us very clear upkeep instructions. After trying to be seen somewhere else and was told there was an 1.5-2.5 hr wait.. I called Blue Collar and was able to be seen immediately! My ear lobe piercing (which I got done elsewhere) was super irritated and bleeding and I was having trouble getting the earring back in after cleaning it. I didn't want the hole to close up so was in search of a good piercing parlor to help me out! Was helped out by Jason who cleaned my earring, put it back in, and gave me a bunch of advice about piercing aftercare. Blue collar is great. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with smiling faces and people ready to help out. I showed them a design I wanted and they told me it would take six days to draw out a better version. I was very appreciative of that. Just took my grandson there to get a tattoo improved that he had done elsewhere. What Jason did with what was there was excellent work!! I was worried because the person who did the original just did a crap job.  My grandson is autistic and loves tattoos. (He is 22) Jason was so accommodating and sensitive to my grandsons needs and did such an amazing job with what was there already that I am considering getting something. This place is amazing. I got my very first tattoo done by Dakota today, and he did everything to make sure that I would be happy with the tattoo. I came in on Thursday for a quick consultation, and I had an appointment set to get tattooed that Saturday. I was only going to be I  town for the weekend, and he was very accommodating. The environment is relaxed and comfortable, and all of the artists are extremely talented. I brought my sister along with me, and she was also impressed at Dakota's work. The piece is very detailed, and I couldn't be happier. I definitely will come back down from San Francisco to get another piece done by Dakota. I would highly recommend Blue Collar Tattoo to anyone. The tattoo artist did a great job with my tattoo. They had us fill out the forms and answered our questions. They were okay with allowing us to see him prepare with the needle. He had us see what it would look like beforehand and make sure it was good to go. I had a two-piece tattoo on the same arm but different locations. He was completely okay with how he set up the tattoo. He cleaned my arm beforehand then let me see if it was good to go. He was very patient and precise with the work he did on my arm. I came to Dakota drained...I had already been to two other tattoo places where the guys saw me and immediately put a label on my forehead that I was a noob. These artists at the other tattoo places came up with ridiculous prices and their arrogant way of telling me how they knew more about tattoos than I did turned me off and made me not even want to get another tattoo...until I met Dakota. I was welcomed. He gave reasonable prices and I didn't actually feel any discomfort being there. He knows how to use a needle and did not butcher my skin.
