I've gotten all of my piercings done here and I'd never had an issue before today. Unfortunately every time I come here it is a new piercer. I went in to get my daith done and mid piercing she lost the hoop and couldn't get it through the second hole. Ended up taking nearly 20 minutes to get the jewelry in. She didn't explain what was happening till about 15 minutes of poking and prodding my ear and gave me the option to either completely re-pierce it, come back another time to try again, or continue to try to shove it through my ear. Overall, I appreciate how the Red Room provides a sanitary and professional environment and I am happy with my piercing. However, there were inconsistencies in the information given to me by two different receptionists. If you are like me and your current financial situation requires you to budget ahead of time (even for the seemingly insignificant expenses like $5 or $16), it would be beneficial to ask for clarification, confirmation, and documentation of the additional, minor costs of a service beforehand. 12/31/19: I came in for a nostril piercing. The receptionist was knowledgable and helpful as I decided on my jewelry. The wait time was accurate to the time she had estimated for me when I arrived, and during that time I noticed that the area was clean, professional, and organized. When it was my turn, the professional piercer came out to greet me. I felt like I was in good hands, and I was very happy with the piercing. Before I left she explained that she put the longer post in case there was swelling, and that I could come back 4-6 weeks from that day to change to a shorter post. The impression was that changing the posts was part of this initial fee (with my jewelry selection, the total came to about $110). 2/9/19:I came in to change the long post for a shorter post, but I left with an unexpected expense and feeling confused. When I arrived, a different receptionist greeted me who was friendly and accurate with her estimate on my wait time. When it was my turn, I was greeted by another professional piercer who was knowledgable, professional, and friendly. After the post was changed, I instinctively asked the receptionist if I had to pay even though I was not told last time that it would be charged. She said yes, and that she would meet me at the front. While at the front desk, I told the receptionist that this information was not given to me during my first visit. She said, "Oh," and then confirmed that it will always be $16 to change a post. After hearing this, I told her that the receptionist during my first visit told me that if you buy jewelry at the Red Room you will not be charged for the jewelry change fee of $5. She said that it is not true, and you will still be charged $5. Read Less

I got a tattoo done here in another language. After coming in for a consultation, writing out the tattoo for the tattoo artist (Tanya), I came into the shop and waited about 2 hours for her to write out a 3 character tattoo small enough to fit on my wrist. This was my first tattoo and I trusted I was in good hands so when I came home, to my surprise, she wrote one of the characters wrong and the tattoo did not say what it was supposed to. I immediately contacted her saying that I needed it to get it fixed. She said I could come in that day, and later texted me saying that she was "tired" and that I needed to come another day. I contacted her weeks later and she said the tattoo needed to heal. I contacted her again today, and she read my text and did not respond. I now have a tattoo that says the wrong thing and have to pay more to get it fixed. Not too mention the pricing was over $60 for a botched tattoo that is tiny. Read Less

Super bummed at my last visit here. I have always got my piercings here because they have very professional, helpful piercers. Came here for very some simple lobe piercings (keep in mind I have several other piercings I just never had my second lobes done) and the woman at the counter quotes me $100. I had called earlier and they said a set of lobe piercings would be $50 including jewelry. I asked her since I had called if there was a miscommunication and she responds that she is new and she could ask the piercer. She goes back to ask the piercer and she says yes ok the set is $50 and so I decided to go through with it. She asks me to pick my jewelry and then says these start at $20 and so on. So she was telling me that just the piercings were $50 but to tack on another $20-$25 for jewelry and since I was getting both lobes done that would be around $100. She wasn't letting up and was persistent that those were the prices. I have got so many piercings here and they have never quoted me a price and then increased the price of the "basic" jewelry. Got a tattoo here a few months ago and I am just now getting around to the review. First of all, I've gotten tattoos before at places back home and everytime I have to sign a piece of paper but at this place I did not sign anything, which I think is illegal? Anyways, I got one of the simplest tattoos you could think of, it's just a couple straight lines put together. Some of my lines have blown out, and I believe it's from how hard the artist was pressing the needle in my skin. And some of the lines are a bit crooked. Also, I asked when I walked in how much the tattoo would be so I wouldn't waste anyone's time, and I never got an answer. Needless to say, after the tattoo, they charged me $80, and I know every shop has their own prices, but that just seemed a little much for what I got. Red room tattoo does amazing work but their customer service girl in the front needs some help. ( I've gotten tattoos in the past from them and never had no problems ) before we went I called to make sure they could squeeze us in. but Today me and my sister went in to each get a small tattoo and ended up leaving to go to a different location due to the lack of service the girl gave. When we entered the building the gal told us to email the pic of the tattoo so we did and we waiting a while. After so long we went back up to the front and asked how long cuz we could always go home and come back. She rudely replies he ready for you now. And we're like okay we are ready too. And she says back well if you want to leave then leave so awkwardly we felt unwanted and didn't really know what to say. So we left. The first time I ever got a tattoo I had a horrible experience. It took me almost 10 years to muster up the courage to try it again. After extensive research I found Red Room and liked everything about them. From the beginning everyone was super welcoming and the business is extremely professional. I'm a tattoo lover and love going to different shops but this shop takes it all from the customer service to he actual employees they told us it was a 15-30 Min wait while that turned into 2 hours and half and no undates or anything what so ever. My daughter and I have been wanting matching tattoos for quite some time and we decided on a whim to get them done today. We did a walk-in and lucky for us, Red Room had a guest tattooer today named Forrester. He listened to our ideas and put his spin on what we wanted. I have been to Red Room twice for my piercing needs and it is the only shop I trust in Chico! I can't remember the piercer's name, but she is awesome and very gentle. I first went in to get my nose ring changed and she was very gentle removing and replacing the jewelry. I recently came back to get my nipples pierced and I had a great experience. I have inverted nipples and she was able to get them to come out and pierce them and it didn't even hurt too bad! They look great and have healed perfectly with no problems, so I'm a happy customer! Tony was wonderful. He was incredibly professional and informative. You can definitely tell that he takes pride in his work. He gave me a septum piercing and walked me through the entire process. He explained each step in detail,  provided advice on jewelry, and gave excellent advice on caring for the piercing. This place was a serious nightmare. DO NOT GO HERE. Leaving this review for a friend. We walk into the parlor and ask to get an appointment for a simple 5 letter word tattoo on the wrist. We talked to Casey, we described what he wanted exactly and he said that they could for sure get us in by 5 and would give us a call. They ended up never calling and so we dropped in around 5:30 to check and see what was up. Casey was still busy with another customer so we were directed to Phillip to do his tattoo. Phillip was very uninterested in what my friend wanted. He didn't take any of what my friend wanted into account and made a stencil of the tattoo and put it on my friends wrist. It was the wrong font, too big, and my friend wanted the tattoo to face him so that he could read it. Phillip said he would not do the tattoo because that was considered upside down. We understand that artists have their rules, but then him, and the other girl working, were trying to pressure my friend into the tattoo that he didn't want. It was too big and the font was ugly anyways. Through all of this, the vibe here was very bad. The people working here were forceful and try to tell you what they think you want, rather than what you actually want. They did not try to work with my friend into making the tattoo that he wanted. I gave my friend a pep talk and said let's get out of here, they are not at all being sensitive of what you want and it's YOUR tattoo; not theirs! We ended up leaving. What sucks is we had put down a 40$ deposit on our first visit and we were not informed that the artists wouldn't do what he wanted in the first place. I'm very disappointed in this place. I don't know how there are any good reviews the people here were very insensitive. I'm glad we decided to go to Bobby at Eye of Jade in downtown Chico. He was so down to Earth and worked with my friend to make sure the tattoo was exactly what he wanted. Red Room gave a pressured vibe and Eye of Jade seemed much more willing to work with your interests. For this reason, I would NEVER recommend going into Red Room alone. My best friend told me she'd take me to get my nose pierced for my birthday, so we looked around and chose Red Room because my sister had gotten a tattoo here a couple months ago and loved it. When we we walked in we were greeted and immediately helped by Tony who helped me through the process of picking out my jewelry and the getting the actual piercing! I walked in without an appointment and was able to get pierced immediately. I ended up paying 30 for the piercing and 25 jewelry. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience! Read Less

My girlfriend and I came here to get a tattoo and nipple piercings. We called in advance to see if any artists were able to do a simple tattoo later that day. After explaining where the tattoo would go, what it is and how big I would like it, the artist on the phone told us that it "wouldn't be a problem" . So we drove over to Red Room and I was disappointed when the two different artists there said that the tattoo would take about 6-8 hours to draw, and anothsr 3 to actually do and that it would be charged as a custom job, which they quoted as being $400. Mind you, the tattoo was almost identical to a piece of clipart on Google and the fact that they wanted to charge me 9-11 hours of custom work is outrageous. (I ended up going to a different shop and it only took an hour and a half to draw and tattoo. The clipart is posted below. The only change is I wanted him holding an hourglass in his raised hand)My girlfriend's nipple piercing (she already had one) immediately became inflammed and stung profusely (not supposed ro happen with nipple piercings). She got it two weeks ago and it is slanted, still inflamed and continues to hurt, despite following all aftercare instructions. The shop min is 60 bucks, which is a bit higher than others. I've gotten three tattos here myself as well as matching tattoos with a friend that were the size of a quarter, we were in and out in less then a half hour but still had to pay $120 for the two, later I found out we could have gotten the same at Eye of Jade for $80. I wont recommend anywhere else! I got my first tattoo here and will continue to be tattoed here. Ive had Jamin for my first tattoo and Phil for the rest. They all do amazing work in there and I thought that the price was extremely reasonable for the quality of work.. especially since im going to have these forever. I have been pierced here as well as tattooed here and all of my experiences with Red Room have been amazing. The piercers are very experienced and always make sure that my new piercing fits properly, whether it's on my ears or on my nose. And if I ever have questions about after care or need new jewelry they are more than happy to help! I also got my second tattoo here by Phil and it turned out amazing! It's exactly what I wanted! Everyone there is very approachable and wants to make sure that you are 100% satisfied with the final result. My first comment is on Chelsea from December 2011.  The experience was really great.  Chelsea was nice, professional, and quick, and it was an easy piercing.  I would definitely go back to her again.On another trip about a year ago I came in to get fitted for a new lip ring.  There was a bit of a wait but once it was my turn I was in an out in about 3 minutes.  Easy.Over the years I've come in to look at jewelry or gone in with friends.  Sometimes there's someone to greet you at the counter, and other times you might be waiting to talk to someone.  I understand everyone is working.  I definitely don't want to interrupt a tattoo.  But having a clipboard with a check-in sheet or something like that would feel like we were being taken care of even if nobody was up front. Always come here for my piercings. I've had my nostril pierced with a stud, both nipples pierced with barbells, and my ears done twice. I recently came in wanting my septum pierced, everything went smoothly. My nose was cleaned, and the piercer examined me closely and said that it's important to have your nose checked to be sure there is enough space between the meaty tip of the nose and the cartilage behind. Unfortunately, I didn't have that space. I was not charged for the unused jewelry or set up as it wasn't my fault and I didn't back out. I'm very impressed with the piercer for being educated and professional, letting me know right away that if I had gone through with the piercing, it would have been extremely painful all throughout the year+ healing process.I'll always come back for future piercings :) Read Less

I walked in on a rainy day pretty spur of the moment (i did do research though) to get my septum pierced. Chelsea helped me out deciding which piece of jewelry would best suit my lifestyle and my face. She was charming, friendly and made it very comfortable for me to walk in by myself (im a semi newbie to the piercing/ body mod world). The room where i got the piercing done was clean and well maintained. She informed me of the procedures and how she was going to do it. I did inform her through the paper work that i had some heart issues, but that i wasnt too worried about them affecting the piercing process. Even though i told her it would probably be okay she still asked me questions about what symptoms look like and told me that i could tell her to stop at any time. She also informed me of what she would do if i were to randomly pass out all just to be on the safe side. She took her cues from me and it was quick smooth process, no heart issues.I think the best thing is that Ive seen a lot of septums done wrong (not by red room) and that your nose has to have a certain anatomy for it. She told me mine did, but if it didnt that she would have to advise against it. It takes a lot of integrity to tell a customer that a certain piercing isnt going to work for that person because that is potentially lost business. Ive had mine now for about a week and a half, very little pain (except for what is expected), no infection, high quality jewelry, and if i did have any concerns (i dont) i wouldnt be worried about going in and asking questions.
