Second tattoo and I couldn't be happier. Went to two diff. shops before finding 12 Volt and was not comfortable with how they were treating me and would not get me in the same day which I thought was weird because what I wanted took Zac at 12 Volt about 20 mins total to do and thats including the walk-in consultation, and drawing. The first thing I noticed was that the shop is very clean and comfortable. I came with my husband to get a tattoo and I was treated so nicely and felt very welcome. Zac Black was our artist and we already heard good things about him. He is super personable and nice and I really appreciate that!! Called a couple of days ago to make an appointment. Told the artist that answered what my husband and I wanted and he said that it was simple enough that we should just walk in. So we went in and told Raine what we wanted. We got nothing but annoyance from her. We did not feel welcome at all and we just got the vibe like we were the last people that she wanted to see. I'm absolutely in love with my tattoo. Its a memorial piece for my uncle that passed away recently so naturally I wanted it to be stellar. I researched almost every artist in Chico looking for someone who did great bears and found Tanner. He is a very nice and approachable guy. He took my ideas and made them even better. Had an incredible experience getting my first tattoo here! I've walked into other shops and felt awkward and uncomfortable, but I didn't feel that way at all here! All of the artists are super friendly and helpful and I loved that they check out each others work and compliment each other! Shop was beautifully decorated and most importantly very clean! Clean shop with great artists, what else could you ask for from a tattoo shop?  It makes me feel very confident knowing that the needles and tubes are one time use and not autoclaved to be used over and over. All 3 tattoo experiences I've had here have been great. This shop has a great atmosphere but most importantly the artists are knowledgeable and helpful. Popped in to 12 Volt to see if I could have some flowers added to work that I already have. I came prepared with books of flower drawings but Chris was confident and friendly and said he'd probably free hand them on which made me a little nervous but I told him that he was the artist and I trusted him. I'm so glad I did! I love the work Chris did and look forward to getting more work done by him. He was friendly, professional, and patient as we talked through the design and finished product. I wanted a new tattoo for my 20th bday so my boyfriend and I went on a chico wide search for the best artist for the tattoo I wanted. 12 volt was the last place we checked out and where we found Chris Stack. First of all the studio is super clean and all the supplies are very sanitary and new. You can tell they really care about the safety just as much as making sure you get a good tattoo. Everyone was super chill and helpful. Even though everyone was busy with other people when we came in to check out their portfolios like 3 people made sure we didn't have any questions and asked if we needed anything. Their portfolios were some of the nicest I have seen. A few of them were printed books full of really well done tattoos and the variety of the types of tattoos shown really helped to give me an idea of each artists style and capability.Chris was very helpful and patient as we tried to explain what I wanted (I'm not a very good artist so he had to deal with my bad sketches). After making an appointment and realizing their prices were way better than the other studios we had visited I was that much more pleased with my experience.The day of my appointment Chris showed us his sketch (which was exactly whatI wanted) and went over what kind of details I might want. He gave great advice about what would look good and what doesn't usually work with tattoos, making sure I didn't do anything stupid. When we got started he was very precise about the placement of my tattoo, making sure it was dead center and getting both me and my boyfriends opinion on it. He made sure I was comfortable and ready, giving me even more advice on what to expect and how to handle it. He had a really steady hand but was still super quick with getting it done. It only took about 45 min and I am so happy about how it turned out. So far it's healing up very nicely and still looks amazing, I am super pleased with my experience here and will definitely be back for my next tattoo! Side notes: there is a non-refundable deposit that goes towards your tat when you make an appointment, there's a $5 service charge when you pay with a card, and they do free touch ups if your tattoo starts to fade while healing.
