I recently got 2 tattoos done here by Abe. One tattoo is on my inner right arm. It was not an area I was looking forward to having tattooed since I remember how painful the one on my left arm was. (Left arm was done by another artist years ago) I was shocked at how light handed Abe was! It was a pleasant tattoo experience. Me and my best friend went back to him a week later and each got another tattoo. As far as the shop itself goes, it's very clean and tidy. He has a deep and seasoned mind that is reflected in every single piece of abstract art that he creates. If you need more than the fact that I flew out from Washington, DC specifically for our tattoo session after waiting four years to find an artist, keep reading. His style: When you look at his work, you'll see that it epitomizes the phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words" with every inch of detail carefully thought out. You can say the splatters and other abstract details he adds to his pieces are organized chaos, but who doesn't find beauty in the chaos? The experience: This was my first tattoo, and a big piece at that (my whole left side from my back shoulder to hip,) but he was so easy going and friendly that I thankfully never had a moment of nervousness, apprehension, or intimidation. Conversations were organic and great - my two day session flew by so fast! And this is coming from someone who's really not much of a talker and more laid back. When it came to fleshing out the look of my tattoo, he made sure to listen to everything I wanted and also gave several suggestions to keep my creative juices flowing. I really appreciated how he wasn't forceful or pushy with any of them and it was more of just a fluid discussion but that equal conversational back and forth bred the perfect piece of art that he created. Venue: Extremely clean, spacious, and welcoming. All of the other tattoo artists were very chill personable people. They all have such unique styles which was cool to see. You can tell they work as a team and not as individual artists who happen to work in the same space. I never really thought anything significant about the tattoo experience itself since the main reason why I was there was for the end product. He said his next top priority aside from providing a piece that clients want is ensuring they have a great experience because its also the memories from the means of acquiring such a permanent thing would that will last forever. I was not asked to come in to discuss any issue I had, and it was never communicated that the deposit wouldn't transfer. Since almost every communication made with Abe and Dave was via email or text, I'm more than comfortable with proving that their communication on my tattoo and issue with them was sub par.Went here with a friend for his tattoo appointment. It was my friends second tattoo (I've had nine, not huge numbers but enough that I'm familiar with the process / experience) While watching my friend get a tattoo I was impressed, Dave had taken a picture on a tablet and drawn several rough sketches over the area where my friend wanted his tattoo and got to work only slightly later than his appointment time. I had a custom piece I wanted and walked over to put down a deposit and get signed up expecting a similar experience with the shops other artist Abe (whose work I'd been looking at while we waited for Dave) And then everything went downhill. I don't know why on earth I didn't demand a refund right then and there whenever Dave decided to take a break from tattooing my friend to go smoke wax in the corner of his shop, apparently the guy can only finish a tattoo when he's really baked as he took a few bong breaks. The artist I would be working with, Abe was a nightmare. He told me to email him the ideas I had, so I sent him an email with a link to google drive where I'd put everything together for him. I didn't hear back from Abe until I reached out to confirm he'd seen it. His response (from his gmail account) "oh. I don't do Google Drive" Just e-mail everything directly to me. So I did, and based on our conversation about everything it seemed like Abe was on board and had an idea of what I wanted. My friend came with me for my consultation / appointment with Abe who didn't look happy to see me. When I asked him to see what he'd seemed enthusiastic about earlier in the week he brought out a mostly blank page with two print outs (from one of the images I'd sent him) that he'd done some muddy looking watercolor over. Both my friend and I had the same reaction of "What the hell?" to which Abe had the shrugged off response of "eh, I didn't really work on it." Seeing how disinterested Abe was, and the fact that he had literally garbage done towards showing us anything I decided not to get tattooed that day and reached out to Dave to see if I could work with him. This in turn became even more of a headache. First I e-mailed Dave about working with him, he told me to text him. Then we went back and forth about scheduling and what I wanted so again, I sent him a link to Drive and scheduled an appointment. When Dave then asked me to make a second deposit and I had to again explain what happened with Abe (probably the third time I'd gone over this with him) he never responded. The day of my appointment with Dave? I texted him to ask if I could bump my appointment by half an hour. Dave responded asking if I was someone else, then that I didn't have an appointment because I didn't make a second deposit and that my issues with Abe "I had to take up with him" They got a $100 from me for no work, which for a couple of pot heads sounds like a solid business model apparently. These guys are talented artists but terrible businessmen. Save your money and go somewhere else. Read Less

Went for a walkin with a few of my girl friends (6) to get small tattoos. Minimum $100, cool that perfectly fine, worth it. When one of the girls asked for coordinates on her arm to be more symmetrical than what the computer printed (okay that seems reasonable right), Abraham (the tattoo artist) told her that’s the only way his computer can do it. So she politely told him it’s was okay that she didn’t want it anymore because she wanted the spacing more even (looked up many samples of her tattoo and they were all evenly spaced like she wanted). In his own words he said “so you just wasted my time then.” I feel if your artwork can only go as far as what your computer can print, then you are a very poor tattoo artist. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful clean shop, the other artists are very respectful, but Abraham didn’t understand that we are coming to him for something permanent and we would like it they way we want. I walked in to get a small tattoo. There is a $100 minimum which is perfectly fine. I wanted coordinates on my arm. I asked for the coordinates to be evenly spaced but the tattoo artist, Abe Avila, gave me a sample of what he did on his computer and the coordinates were not at all evenly spaced. I told him I no longer wanted the tattoo if I couldn't get it the way I wanted. And he said "so you just wasted my time then" and crumpled the sketch that he simply printed off the computer. At that point I was super thrilled I didn't get tattooed by him. But, even though I had a negative experience, the shop isn't all bad. The shop is beautiful on the inside and my friend got a mandala ear tattoo by Esteban Vargas and he was so kind and did an excellent job! Go to Esteban, you won't be disappointed! Read Less
