The artists at True Love are true pros!  The shop has a cool vibe with lots of original work on the walls for inspiration as well as plenty of flash designs if that's your thing.  All my work has been original creations developed with Moises, although honestly he has just taken an idea or theme and run with it as an artist.  I highly recommend him.The shop is super clean and comfortable, rates are fair and don't forget to tip your artist!Thanks guys! I would not recomment this shop. I didn't feel listened to. I was trying to explain to Amanda what I wanted and she looked like in a hurry. It was worst the day of the actual tattoo sesion day (but I had already paid a deposit). I ended up with a piece that is Ok executed but not exaxtly as I wanted. She kept saying "I know what you mean", but she really didn't and "It doesn't matter in the long term, but I know what you mean" when I told her where exactly I wanted my puece. ...When I show her and example of another tattoo to make my point clear about a detail in my piece, she just replied "that's a horrible tattoo" without even taking the time to see what I was trying to say. Noy sure if its the store attitude, if she was in a hurry, or what was going on, buy I'm not happy with the result. Now I will have to pay lasser te remove and retouch a part of my piece. Oh goodness, thank you Amanda Go for giving me the most beautiful sweet memorial piece for my beloved kitty whom I adored.  It's not a portrait but very simple lettering with some sweet art nouveau touches.  Amanda took my look-what-a-kindergartener drew concept and made something very lovely.   It's nice to find an artist who will work on a range of sizes - I've seen much more elaborate and bigger pieces she's done, which are also stellar so I was very happy she put as much care into my small piece.  Lovely steady fine lines and artistic detail. Amazing experience, such a gem of a shop. (Picture attached) Wanting a quite simple tattoo, finding a shop actually posed more difficult than I expected. I randomly turned around to stop in True Love because my brothers birthday was coming to an end and this tattoo was for him. So happy I did this! I was greeted by a rad female artist (I believe Amanda Go who looks equally as talented!) who was working on a massive piece and went to get Matt Klass. Super sweet and easy to work with. Can tell he got excited once we were getting designs down and that was really awesome to see especially with a small tattoo. He altered it mid drawing when I changed my mind and was honest with me about placing - totally professional. He gave me my favorite tattoo and it's my smallest by far! so tattooers and tattooees don't play down small pieces it's still your work and if you're the one on the table don't feel like your artist shouldn't be fuckin stoked because it's not some huge commission. Let me start out by saying that this review is not only for the shop, but specifically for Matt Klass. (: I have been getting tattooed by him for a few years now (followed him here from the shop he used to work at in Walnut Creek) and he never disappoints! I have a total of 13 tattoos now and he has done all but 1 of them (my first one which I got back when I was 18). He's incredibly talented and easy-going. He makes you feel comfortable and at ease while tattooing you. I've never felt like I didn't belong while getting tatted at True Love which is a common occurrence at other tattoo shops, I've heard. Matt is super cool, his line work and script is especially beautiful and perfect. I would follow this artist anywhere in California lol I have referred friends and family here after being referred by my friend who went to high school with Matt so his clientele has definitely grown since my friend brought me to him haha. I haven't gotten tattooed by any of the other artists here but I have seen a lot of Amanda's and Daniel's work and they are both extremely talented as well! The atmosphere at this shop is awesome. They have a ton of art work all over the walls which makes for great scenery while getting your work done(: Daniel is funny because he will often come over to check out Matt's work while he's doing his thing and comment on the tattoo saying it looks sick. Everyone here is super friendly and Matt is very easy to talk to which is nice when you have to be on the table for hours at a time. They do walk-ins and pricing is on point. This review is for Daniel at True Love...I was referred to Daniel by a mutual friend who also gets tattooed by him. I've found that not only is Daniel extremely communicative during the process, but he's also very passionate about what he is doing - putting permanent ink on your body! If something is a little off or there is a piece that's not just right. He'll go above and beyond to make sure it works and get dialed in into what yours needs and wants are. I have gone back to Daniel for several session and he is always professional, clean and makes some bomb work! I plan on coming here for all my tattoos - going forward. Clean shop, great ambiance, and professional staff. Daniel and Amanda have inked a lot of my friends at this point, and I really can't recommend them enough.I really can't say enough nice things about Daniel. He has the patience of a zen master, redoing my stencil like 4 times when it was like a millimeter too big, or I just wanted to see it in slightly different place. Super calm and collected he made me feel super comfortable and really made sure that I got the end result I wanted - as a first timer who's scared of needles, I really can't overstate how important that was to me. I don't know if he's into wood working, but he really is a measure 3 times, cut once kind of guy. If you're on the fence, give them a call, and stop by the shop. Viktor is great. He has done two of my sister's tattoos and recently did a small wrist tattoo for me. He's great at taking his time and making sure I was happy with my tattoo. I can't wait to go back for my next big piece! Last May he finished a large piece on my back covering up an smaller tattoo. He did an incredible job. It took 2 sessions and he was so patient throughout it all! I also saw him again for another shoulder tattoo. I won't go to anyone else!! Just got my most recent tattoo at True Love, a phoenix, and I could not be more ecstatic.I'd been looking for the right place to get a phoenix tattoo. Phoenixes are so symbolic to me, that I wanted to make sure I went someplace just as special. After scouring Yelp, I came across True Love Tattoos and although they didn't have many reviews, I trusted the ones they had and decided to take a chance. The shop is very clean, and comfortable, everyone is treated like old friends, which is nice if you're a little nervous. I was very, very particular about the design and Dan really did such a great job. He's a true artist and understood the importance of the design and put so much work into details to make it really special. Took about 3 hours and 2 sessions but the price was extremely reasonable. Everyone in the shop was so nice and the music was awesome so the time flew by. Pun intended. The tat came out so beautifully, I couldn't have had a better experience anywhere. Being my first tattoo I did not know all the lingo or the exact way to convey what I wanted but I placed my basic idea on a tee and Dave was able to knock it out of the park. True Love Tattoo is by far my favorite shop for many, many reasons! LOCATION: centrally located in Berkeley, close to freeway access, in a good neighborhood. The kind of spot where you can park your car and not have to worry about it! THE ARTISTS: Everyone in the shop are truely artists, involved in music, sculpture, painting, etc. They are amazing at what they do, and they take pride in their profession. THE RATES: Incredibly reasonable for how high quality their work is. THE SHOP: Clean, heady place with warm colored walls, art everywhere, and overall uplifting vibe. From day one I have never felt uncomfortable in the shop. Music is always on, but not at a level where you become annoyed. Dave Moore in particular who does my work, has an incredible talent and attention to detail. He has a very light hand. a knack for shading, and an undeniable eye for color.
