He gave me excellent advice regarding placement and design, and kept my concerns and expectations into account at all times. I just have to say that this shop is beyond amazing. The artists are so welcoming and that really sets the tone. Me and my friends were walk-ins and we were accommodated almost instantly. Our artist was Keene. And I have to say, he is one talented man! Definitely was impressed with his work. The machine that prints the design on paper was tweaking on him, so he freehanded my design. My sister and i went and we matching tatto in remembrance of ♡ it was a very nice experience Anthony did mine and Keen (hope I spelled his nam correctly) did my sister's I was a little nervous but Anthony was very patient, understand, considerate and concern also Keen along with the manager of the Berkeley location. My last tattoo was twenty-five years ago, after Stevie Ray Vaughan died. When it was time for this one, it had to be the right image and the right artist. After much research and squinting at the work of many talented artists, I was drawn to the work of pretty much all of the guys at Berkeley Tattoo. After stopping in a couple of times with my ideas, I ended up working with Shawn, because I think he was as into doing this piece as I was--and, he's phenomenally talented. I couldn't be happier even though after five hours in the chair being drilled on I'm still recovering. In addition to leaving with a one-of-a-kind, amazing piece, I should add that the people and the vibe in the shop are top-notch. Great place, excellent work!I stopped in at the shop to have a couple of smaller pieces done, the shop is small but loaded with a lot of great artwork on the walls (gallery style) which made the wait time for sketching and tracing not bad at all. Anthony was my artist, and I have to say, his work is amazing! His use and understanding of color are so imaginative and beautiful; when he finished the work I was beyond pleased. Anthony is very professional and has a gentle approach; which tells me that he is considerate of the fact that there is an actual person at the end of the needle. I was referred here by a close friend who  had her cover up tattoo done by Anthony. I was impressed by her detail and wanted someone who could do the same level of work for me. I walked in on an early Monday afternoon and was greeted very well. It's been 10 years since I got my one and only tattoo. It needed some love! I have been searching for over a year for somebody to do a portrait of my daughter hugging my dog. I have asked people, checked reviews of Bay Area shops and scoured websites for the best portfolios from tattoo artist that have portrait skills. When I came in to Berkeley Tattoo Parlour I met with Shawn and his confidence and demeanor (as well as his portfolio) put me a little at ease. I left him with a couple photos and explained what I wanted. I was still pretty nervous becu...se this was a large piece with huge meaning to me. When I walked in a week later and saw the design he created from the 2 pics, I knew I had made the right choice. If you're looking for a place to get a tattoo, stop your search and go to Berkeley Tattoo. This was my first tattoo, and Peter was incredible! I stopped in the day before to talk about some design ideas, and when I came the day-of, he had sketched out a great design and made the small adjustments that I wanted on site. His work is beautiful, clean, and healed fast & easy. But here's what really does it for me...  a tattoo is something you have on your body forever. And sure, there are a ton of badass tattoo artists out there who are fantastic at their job. But when getting something permanent on my body, I really appreciated that the person giving me the tattoo is a genuinely fantastic human. And that he, Shawn, and the other guys at Berkeley Tattoo made me feel super comfortable and welcome throughout the whole process.Cannot recommend them enough! All I can say is I can't stop staring at my back in the mirror! Went to see Keene yesterday, & although I was late for my appointment, he got started right away after confirming with me that he had created just what I had in mind. I found a drawing that I wanted & told him I wanted to incorporate my mother's signature & dates somehow. I let him know what colors I'd like as well. He showed me the line drawing with shading & everything... I can't believe how awesome it turned out! He was attentive to me, making sure I was ok from the first line to the last coloring. I decided to get a tat for my 40th bday. I did not make an appointment or anything, just woke up and decided it was what I  wanted to do. I used Yelp to help with the decision of where to get it done and ended up at another shop (not going to say the name), thay was supposed to open at 1, but at 1:30 still was not open.I believe ALL things happen for a reason. After going to yelp again, Berkeley Tattoo Parlor came up and it was right down the street. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Peter. Being that my last tat was about 20yrs ago, I was nervous. I already knew what I  wanted and without me having to describe too much Peter gave me exactly what I wanted. Okay, so where do I begin? I met Anthony years back outside a bar in north beach and we exchanged numbers after I mentioned I just got my leg blasted and he told me he was an artist. His number got buried beneath an endless sea of contacts and I completely forgot I had it. I asked a friend of mine who's friends with Anthony for his number then I had the sudden realization that I had it this whole time. I hit Anthony up told him my girlfriend and I wanted a tattoo and he simply said come in at 430 this Saturday. Then asked for ideas of what we wanted and it was as simple as that. He was courteous and professional throughout the whole process. He does absolutely amazing work. I've never seen someone work so calmly and relaxed  and so quickly but exercising perfection all at the same time. The amount of work he can do in an hour blew me away and his lines are the straightest I've seen in years. He has a steady hand and you do not feel like you're being butchered by a needle all the while he's singing 2pac songs and making the experience all the more enjoyable.    I can't speak for the other artists that work there as of yet but going over their portfolios I was quite impressed with what was seen. My boyfriend's birthday was about two weeks ago and I wanted to do something special for him. So, I decided to get a tattoo. I drew up my idea and brought it to Peter. Peter was very nice, friendly, and wore a permanent smile. He also had a really cool, long, orange-ish red-ish beard (lol). I shared with Peter my ideas for the tattoo- how I wanted the tattoo to look, colors, shapes, lettering, and where I wanted the tattoo to be on my body. Peter was open to all of my ideas and when it was time to actually get the tattoo, he had two drawings for me to choose from. Both drawings were similar to the drawing I submitted, but included the touches I asked for and were so freakin' awesome! I had a hard time choosing which drawing to have tattooed 'cause they were THAT darn good, but in no time I found my self laying down on the stretcher-bed-thingy oohing and aahing in pain.It took about an hour and 15 minutes for Peter to finish the tattoo. My boyfriend was also there. Both my boyfriend and Peter gave me words of encouragement like, "you can do it", "you're almost there", and "almost done". I felt like I was in labor or something, but it helped (lol). I am very satisfied with my experience at Berkeley Tattoo Parlor and am thankful to have had such a cool, creative, and down-to-earth guy like Peter tattooing me.
