I went to Banshee Arts to get a devotional tattoo from Morpheus and I could not be happier. From initial consultation to the finished piece, she was thoughtful and professional. Her artistic skills are top notch, and she is well-steeped in her craft. She gets both the art and science of tattooing and you can trust your ideas and your skin to her. Sounds weird, but it's true.During the consultation she was patient with my requests. She created an exceptional tattoo based on a very poor sketch (I'm not an artist by any means), and was kind and understanding during the two sessions it took to complete the tattoo, explaining what she did and why.The tattoo came out better than I expected precisely because Morpheus added details it never would have occurred to me to ask for; the moon looks like a moon with shading to represent valleys and craters; there's depth to the metal details on the shield and there's actually woodgrain on the wooden parts of the shield. I would absolutely recommend Banshee Arts tattoo if you want a fairly priced, safe and clean space, talented artist and caring environment.I set up an appointment with Morpheus for a norse sigil tattoo that I'd been contemplating for years. I wanted a more meaningful and significant experience than I had had at previous tattoo studios, and when I expressed this to Morpheus she asked me detailed questions prior to the appointment about what I wanted and what the symbol meant to me, where I was in my life etc. I was so thrilled with the whole experience. Morpheus listened carefully to my answers and tailored the experience to fit my requirements. As such it became a really emotional, spiritual and moving experience that I will carry with me. I felt so comfortable in her presence. (I don't want to get too gender-specific but I've found that some tattoo studios can be a bit macho and it was nice, as a woman, to have my tattoo inked by another woman in a relaxed and comfortable environment).Also, her line work is INCREDIBLE. I can't even tell you how fortunate I was to find Morpheus. I had an idea in my mind of the half-back piece I wanted for the better part of 15 years, but hadn't been able to find an artist I trusted to have the precision, reverence, and affinity for ancient cultures to truly do it justice. You see, I've studied Ancient Egyptian history, art, and culture for as long as I can remember, and I wanted someone to reproduce a few pages of papyrus from the Book of the Dead depicting the 42 Negative Confessions and the Weighing of the Heart ceremony. If you have any idea what that means, you'll know how intricate and downright freakin' cool a tattoo this is, and how hard it was to find someone to do it right. I first talked with her about the idea at Black and Blue, and we settled into a series of sessions, 3 hours or so each every 6 weeks, and 9 months later, I have what I'm pretty sure is the most awesome tattoo in the world. She really worked with me on each element of the design and gave it the respect it deserved. I can't recommend Morpheus enough if you need something precise, spiritual, or ancient. I found Banshee and Morpheus through happenstance. Considering I wanted to get some old ink corrected and some new work designed, I made an appointment and went by. I am forever glad I did.Her shop is cozy, inviting and has great energy. Morpheus is pleasant, her energy is positive and her conversation great.Now, on to her work...I've been tattooed quite a few times by quite a few different artists and over the last 30 years. To be frank, she is bloody great at her work!!! She got the concept I was trying to design right away. She came back with an emailed initial design within a few days. I went in for a final consult and approved the artwork. She nailed what I wanted right on the head.  The execution was excellent. Her fine lines are clean and well executed. The design was sized perfectly and placed perfectly. She works with great attention to detail. Her touch is light but every line was complete and perfect. I greatly enjoyed working with her. So much so, that I booked, on the spot, a date one week hence for another piece. Soon, we will begin to fix the scratch work on my back.I like working with professionals but I especially like working with professionals that I like. Trust me, you'll like her art, her execution, her shop and herself. If you are a woman looking for another woman to tattoo you then I urge you to reach out to Morpheus. Her shop is unique in that it is in a private industrial arts building. It is a one person shop and is a safe environment to have your work done in private without gawkers in the room. Morpheus is truly awesome. My Mom, sister, and I have been in touch with her for about six months to design a tattoo for us and after having it done today, we couldn't be happier. She worked on the design long distance (I am in Chicago, my sister is in Arkansas) and was able, even through email, to create a design which exactly matched what we had in mind. As it was my Mom's first tattoo, Morpheus spent a lot of time walking her through the process and explaining as she went. Her warm and calming energy made the experience simply wonderful. I got a beautiful tattoo here last week. When I went in for my initial consultation, it was basically with the approach that I had a surgical scar I wanted covered up, and whatever she thought would look good, I was happy to get. I wound up with a design that I *love* and she spent a lot of time with me going through the inks to make sure the colors were exactly what I wanted. Morpheus is a true professional and talented artist. She did two small celtic/viking knot tattoos for me, and I was very impressed by the intricacy of her work. During our consultation she listened to what I wanted and asked many questions to clarify. She also voiced concerns with clear explanations for why certain things I wanted were not good ideas for tattoos.
