This place is great! Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. I had an appointment with Jeff and after I arrived and was waiting for him to get everything set up, the piercer, Barney, came up and was talking to us and asking if we had any questions about piercings. I have a rook piercing and a septum piercing both from other places but he was more than happy to answer any of my questions about them. Then once I got back to start the tattoo Jeff was great! He talked to me about what I wanted from the pictures I sent him and then drew up an a amazing sketch! The tattoo itself was not as painful as I was expecting and I can only expect thats from his many years of experience. At the end of the appointment I was asking about how I should go about fixing another tattoo I had and if he thought it was possible. He offered to do it right there and just included it in my original price! However im not too sure who the heck this dude was but he had the most shit attitude and when my sister had gone back to ask a few more questions on how to care for her piercing since it was showing signs of infection, this guy was being a fuckin prick to her saying that she can't get a refund no matter what and to just take it out and she can come back a pay full price to get another. ???. Then I had gone back a few months after getting my nose done to ask about another piercing I wanted to get but the same fucking guy attended us and gave the same shitty ass attitude. I recently got my first tattoo and after exploring my options I decided to give Mad Dogs a go. I like that they've been tattooing Bakersfield for 20 something years. I met the owner Marc, he's a pretty nice guy, super funny too! I was a walk-in so I waited a little to be seen. I talked to an artist named Frankie, he was very helpful, super nice and knowledgeable. Frankie did an amazing job and I'm so happy with my tattoo. I'll definitely be going to him for my next.You can tell everyone in the shop has a passion for tattoos and tattooing. Sadly I have to write a negative review when I thought they were amazing. Back in September, Jeff the artist I went to every month for almost two years for new tattoos let me down. I had an appointment Saturday 9/8 and he said he had a back injury so he could not finish a half sleeve which I was ok with. I told him I needed it finished before Fri 9/21, before a company conference. He said yea, come back next week 9/15. I showed up from Delano, 30miles away, he said he tripled booked himself and that if I can help him out and come tomorrow for a tattoo and he'll give a discount from the drive, I said ok. Sunday 9/16, I get a text saying he cannot so it because a friends birthday is that day. I said ok but I need it before Saturday. He said, he could accommodate me. I texted him Monday after I did not hear from Sunday. I'm om at first with it because he doesnt work Sundays nor Mondays. I try again saying if he has openings on Tuesday, I found another another artist by then but no response from Jeff. After getting my tattoo from her, my brother gets his first tattoo from her instead of Jeff when I said I would recommend my brother to him. I get a message from the owner saying if I had a problem with Jeff. I said no, because I wanted to protect his reputation and said my brother picked his first artist depending on Instagrams from both artists, which he did. He wished me good luck and that I should not have flaked with Jeff. I told him my brother chose the artist and I would go back to Jeff when I could because he does amazing work. He said ok. I find Jeff unfollowed me since then when I was about to reach out to him. Hes being childish after a mistake he madeThey are supposed to be grown men, but they are just disgraceful. The lines on my tattoo don't connect properly and aren't even the same thickness. Some lines aren't even dark enough and I do NOT recommend this shop to anyone. I have a tattoo that needed some work so I went in to get it finished back in March of this year so it's been a total of 8 months that I've had it.. anyways my tattoo still hasn't heeled most of it faded and it still itches because they scarred me.. I went back complained and got bullied by the people that were there... I did get my money back but that doesn't pay back for this ugly ass scarred tattoo I now have on my shoulder... they said the reason my tattoo got like this was because I got a bad reaction but keep in mind I have so many other tattoos that I've got at other shops that have never faded... My friend and I came in for a tattoo quote and she took a picture of the area of arm the tattoo was going on and then drew it up on the picture to see exactly what it would look like and then gave us a quote. We went to three other shops to get quotes and they said they couldn't do it or it would be 50+ what Sue quoted us. We went back to Sue and she made it even better than we thought! I messaged this establishment through the yelp app about getting an appointment sometime today. I was half expecting them to tell me they were booked for the next few weeks, but to my surprise they were more than willing to have me come in. Later that same day, I was sitting in a chair getting my tattoo. Let me just say- The entire experience was pleasant through and through. I never felt awkward. I never felt uncomfortable or scared, even though it was my first time getting tattooed without someone else coming along. The staff wasn't stuck-up or judgmental towards anyone who came in their door. My tattoo came out absolutely beautiful as well. The lines are so clean and it looks just like an exact replica of the original. So happy with it. For people trying to find an idea on prices- Mine was $125, plus I tipped my artist 15%, so in total about $145. Not too shabby for such an amazing looking tattoo. I went to Mad dog tattoo for the very first time yesterday because I was planning on taking part on the Friday the 13th deal with a couple family members. They have mentioned this event before & I was finally able to go! I was told if I printed out a small design that was simple it could possibly be done by an artist but I should choose a design on their wall for a back up. I understood that it was up to the artist if they wanted to accommodate because it was not a guarantee. It was also explained that a small tattoo could be slightly bigger if need be. The first pair of our group went first & then the second pair, which I was a part of. I didn't catch the artist name but before going back he asks what I wanted & I told him that I had brought printed ideas that I would like to see if one could be done & he said no can't be done today after looking at both. I knew that it wasn't guaranteed. I choose a design from their wall which was an om symbol & so did my mother in law but her design was a horseshoe. He starts to draw them up & LITERALLY my tattoo was small enough to fit my thumb while my mother in law chose a horseshoe that was about 4 finger width all around. She even was shocked by how small it was & she told me to ask if he can make it a bit bigger. I asked if it could be slightly bigger, and He said no. I was not looking for the design to be large but maybe 2 by 2 inches. I didn't want to be rude & ask for a manager just because I wasn't "getting what I wanted". Also, I didn't want to disrespect the artist by taking it upon myself to just see someone else because he did take the time to talk to me. I was just disappointed that he willingly did not direct me to someone else.After I left, he apparently was upset and told my mother in law that if he accommodates one person then he has to do it for everyone else. Which is fine but he could have easily pointed me to someone else who may have considered me or any of my requests. I was told it was up to the artist. Just because he said no didn't mean any other artist would. Now, at no given time did I give him attitude or was being difficult so I didn't grasp the idea of why he couldn't assist me in a different way. In this case, I was not serviced with getting a tattoo from anyone and ended up going home. If I would have known this before hand then I wouldn't have wasted anyone's time. In addition, I see everyone's design the next day and see the first pair of our group had their tattoos accommodated to ,one chose a design on the wall that was adjusted & the other brought in her own design. These guys were awesome hands down!! They have a certain humor that would come off rude to others but if you have a basic sense of humor and not a stick in the mud then you should be fine. After looking through several tattoo shops, Mad Dog seemed to be the ideal one. My sister and I were each going to get a tattoo. For my first tattoo I went as a walk in on March 29, 2017. It was a day after my dad passed away so it was in his honor. As you walk in there is someone who greets you then directs you to an artist. Jeff did both my sister's and my tattoo. Jeff was so understanding of why I was getting the tattoo, it was my dad's, mom's and sister's birth dates on my back. Everything was super clean, he explained everything. I was already calm, but he made the experience even better. For my second tattoo I went as a walk in as well on May 14, 2017. Again we walked in was greeted, and then directed to an artist. We talked to A. Vino he was so rude. He didn't introduced himself. I showed him the tattoo I wanted and he immediately started judging it, but not as in good kind. I went with a friend and his attitude towards him way so different he immediately introduced himself. My friend did get tattooed my him. Really made me feel bad, so I decided to go check out other tattoo shops but no luck most were closed. So I went back hoping I would get another tattoo artist and I did I reconsidered what I was going to get from my inicial idea. I got Justin and right away he was a much nicer person than Vino. He was so helpful, I had to wait so long for it be my turn it was so worth it I love my second tattoo. I was in a real emergency situation last night!  I had my bottom lip double pierced for some lebrete fangs at a local tattoo/piercing shop.  The piercer acted like he knew what he was doing and was nice but obviously didn't know what he was doing.  He had pierced too high on my lower lip so the backs of the studs would catch on my teeth when i ate.  A stud popped off when i ate a grape! I freaked out and rushed back to Modern Electric tattoo.  It was 900pm on a Friday night and NOONE was there store was closed!! The website says open till 1100pm.  I tried to call and no answer.Called MAD DOG and they told me to come on in!  I got there an CJ sat me down and noticed that the studs were too close together and that it would take 8 months to heal. He recommended leaving the studs out for 2 weeks and that he would give me 2 piercings for free!!  This guy knows his shit and is willing to work for free because he felt bad that someone in his profession would do such a poor job to me.  I ended up having a great conversation with the guys and Justin looked at a screwed up tattoo that ive had for years.  He told me that he could fix it the way that it was supposed to be!! I was so excited, and next thing i know, im looking at a BAD ASS TAT that I can be proud of!! It means so much to me to have found a group of guys so humble, caring and skilled in my hometown!!  It was an extremely painful tat on my hand and I was CUSSING, AND SCREAMING AND I Cant wait to get my next tat from JUSTIN ARMENDARIZ asap!!  Such a fucking awesome experience!! I've had friends in the past get great art work from a guy named, Zombie. It's someone I'll probably end up getting tattoos by in the future, but I wanted to get my nose pierced from Mad Dogs.  I experienced the best customer service possible.
