For a long time I have contemplated getting a tattoo. I heard about this place through my cousin. She had one of her tattoos done by Chris. I looked through his IG and immediately knew he could do what I was asking for and future tattoos at that. I messaged him back and forth and decided on a date/time. I appreciated his patience and him being able to work with my schedule. Other tattoo artists would not. Boooooo! This past Saturday straight after work I hurried on over (I'm coming from San Jose). Took me nearly 2 hours to drive with all the traffic. My aunt and cousin live in Pittsburg and the studio is in Antioch. So, they both accompanied me there. We arrived a little early. My appointment was at 6pm. We were greeted a few times from different employees - which were friendly. I was asked to fill out a form. Chris informed us that it'll be about 20 minutes. I'm only knocking off one star because I actually waited for an hour (not a huge deal breaker though). The ambience was nice and looked clean. Overall, my first tattoo experience was awesome. Chris was cool. He was quick and let me know about the after care for the tattoo. The pricing was great. Over in my neck of the woods the shop fee is more expensive. And for what I was asking that was a bit steep. But I get it - we have high cost of living where I live. I do highly recommend this place. I absolutely will ask Chris to do my future tattoos. I came in to get an ugly, 20 some year old scar from my teenage years, covered with a Gerbera Daisy. Spoke with Aaron, who explained what may or may not happen with the scar holding ink and was thankful he took the time to explain things. Flying Dutchman studio is fantastic! The whole crew were welcoming and fun to work with. My small tattoo turned into an 8 hour sitting that lasted until after close and the staff was great! I went here for my first tattoo because of all the great reviews and suggestions from friends . This was by far the WORST tattoo experience I've ever had. I got my tattoo of the crescent moon with some detail inside by Mike ( I believe that's his name ). The shape doesn't even look like a moon , looks more like a boomerang. He tattooed it on my side with my arm up and my torsos slightly twisted, but when I stood up  and put my arm down after it was done the shape wasn't the same and it looked horrible . He was very unfriendly and made me feel very uncomfortable. I told him what I wanted inside and he told me that it would look better another way and proceeded to do what he was wanted. I'm looking for a tattoo shop to do a couple of forearm pieces and figured I would go locally. My wife and I stopped by here today since she's also looking to get a small piece done as well.We walked in and the only artist in the shop was working on another customer's tattoo. My wife and I weren't greeted and it appeared the artist didn't notice us walk in. No problem, I figured he's focused on his current customer and I feel like I would want an artist's undivided attention while they're working on my tattoo.My wife and I browse the sample books and when we finished we sat down to wait until I hear the needle stop so I could let him know we were there. Less than a minute after we sat down, two young ladies walked in and the artist immediately greeted them and chatted with them a bit before asking them to wait.A little miffed that my wife and I weren't greeted similarly, I stood up so he could see that we were there as well and yet we still weren't greeted, not even a hello.Needless to say, my wife and I left, went to another shop one town over and the experience was a complete 180 degree shift. We were greeted instantly and the artist took the time to discuss the pieces I wanted to get done.I'm all for shopping locally but when a local business blatantly ignores potential customers I have no hesitation taking my money and business elsewhere. I got my tattoo done by Ricky and it ended up being just terrible. I do not recommend him or this shop. First he spelt it wrong even though he was singing the song lyrics while tattooing me and it was on my back so I couldn't see it and then he did a coverup which was even worse and now I have this terrible tattoo on my back then I have to spend hundreds on to get fixed. I was referred to this studio from my sister who has gotten several tattoo's here, specifically the Artist Tom. So I have seen his work and knew that you have to book in advanced. The days following my dogs passing I immediately called the studio for Tom and left a message (they were closed). The next day Tom called and I explained to him that I was coming up to visit my sister and I want to get my dogs name and paw print tattoo'd on my foot (my dog used to stand on my feet)...he said no problem. Took my sister to get a tattoo there. I thought if would be a great place with all the great reviews and the shop itself and staff were but the tattoo can out crapy once healed. It was just a simple outline of the world map and looked great after it was first done. But once healed the line work was terrible. Some lines were thick while others were so thin it was like nothing was there. Ricky did her tattoo and his other work looked good so maybe he was just having a off day. But still you pay for something going on your body forever it should be good. We won't be going again. Read Less

TOM FUREYHe is my tattoo artist and will be for the rest of my life (as long as I'm getting tattoos).He is a very versatile artist with amazing talent - he can and will do any type/style tattoo. Tom is left handed and I find that quite awesome & unique, he is gentle (as gentle as possible... I mean, you are getting a tattoo)... and he works really fast. He also doesn't mind chatting with you while he's tattooing you, which I find nice as it sort of "takes the pain away".He is great at both black/grey and color tattoos. I mainly go for all color tattoos but will be getting a portrait of my grandmother done by Tom in black/grey soon.Tom is also very honest and will tell you how the tattoo you want is going to look over time and he will explain to you exactly why. Some people don't have a great design and others just want too much detail in a small space. He wants his work to look AMAZING on you to make you happy in the end.If you're trying to set an appointment with Tom I HIGHLY suggest stopping by during their hours of operation. Tom is always busy tattooing beautiful works of art on clients so it's really hard to get a hold of him by phone. I always call the studio to make sure he's in and let them know I'll be stopping by. When I arrive I show Tom pictures of what I like/want, what colors, what style, where on my body I want it, etc. once he tells me his thoughts and we have a game plan I set up an appointment at the front desk and leave the reference photos, my name, number and write out everything I discussed with Tom. By the time I come in for my appointment, Tom has everything set-up and ready to go. He always verifies that I like the design/size and he doesn't mind tweaking the design until it's just right. I got her handwriting on the back of my right shoulder,  and he did such a good job. I have several tattoos from different artists, I like to go and check them out and show off their work kind of like a walking billboard. I wasn't planning on getting a tattoo when I went into this place with my friend and he got a tattoo and he got me one for my birthday I wanted my granddaughters name tattooed on my chest and so that's what I got and it is beautiful! everybody there is very polite, friendly and they know their stuff, very beautiful detailed artwork and what I love is there's no flash on the walls! you have to look into the books for each artist so you can see the unique style each one has, no pattern followers.l plan on going in there today and getting some color put into my tattoo and I would recommend them to anyone wanting great work done.
