I'm not big on writing Yelp reviews (I think this is only my second one ever) even though I always refer to them for help when looking for some place new to try. I have people stop me all the time and ask me where I get my work done and I always refer my favorite pain inflictor, Lil Roy at GTC's. ;) But, recently I had a friend ask me where she should go for her tattoo and since we live in Corona, I checked places on here that were local. Then I told her... just drive to Anaheim, it'll be worth it. And it made me think... I wonder what people say about GTC's on Yelp. So, I checked it out and that lead me to this long-winded review. Figured most people likely will get word of mouth referrals for something like tattoos, but if I'm this passionate about my tattoo artist, I should officially put it out there on Yelp, right? It certainly lives up to its name and reputation. Good times are always to be had here at GTC's!I have had the pleasure of being one of Lil Roy's clients for about 18 years now. When I first started getting tattooed I tried out a few different artists, but once I was introduced to Roy's work, I've never (and will never) let anyone else tattoo me. Over the years he's pretty much tattooed all parts of my upper body. I have one full sleeve, almost a complete back piece (that includes a big tramp stamp cover-up which turned out fabulous!), both rib cages, one foot, and will likely fill up the other sleeve that already has a few little pieces done. I never realized it until I just wrote this out, but apparently I'm not big on leg tattoos. Huh... interesting. Roy has done a lot of traditional art on my sleeve, he's done exact replicas of writing I've brought him, and he's sketched things up for me.... but, he is really in his element when you can just walk in and tell him what you want and let him draw it on you in his own style. That way the placement is accurate and it's displayed on your body according to the curves, etc. Check out his portfolio on Instagram @lilroytattoos. Each artist specializes in certain things, so it obviously depends on what you're looking to get, but I've never gone to Roy with an idea he wasn't able to turn into something I love.Anyway, go see Lil Roy for your ink therapy sessions... I promise you will leave feeling a new sense of happiness (it's the endorphins!) and will be left with something beautiful by one of the most talented artists in the industry. Plus, I'm guessing you'll quickly make a new friend because on top of being an amazing artist, Roy is one of the sweetest, most genuine guys I've ever met. Tattoo shops can be intimidating and I've heard some artists can be very unwelcoming which can make for a very awful experience. With Roy and the rest of the staff at GTC's Tattooland, you will feel welcome and comfortable knowing you're getting quality work done that you'll have forever. As for the other stuff... tattoos are expensive and the process takes forever. Most shops play loud music and the staff and clientele aren't particularly PC. If you're easily offended, I'd suggest going in to any shop with an open mind or don't go in at all. It is was it is. So, suck it up buttercup and always tip your artist... Read Less
