Owners Jim Quinn and Roman Casillas are not only insanely talented, but they are deep and insightful (which is important if you're going to be sitting there for 5 hours). Jim Quinn II and Istari Studios renewed my faith in the art of tattooing. After a previous bad experience I did my research both online and by asking people who had tattoos that caught my eye, and the same names kept coming up, Jim Quinn and Istari. After a promising consultation I went to my appointment feeling confident and I came out with a a beautiful tattoo. Jim is a talented artist and a really nice guy. Amazing. I went to Istari to get a memorial tattoo for my brother on my ribs. This was my first tattoo and I was super nervous. Roman Casillas took my idea and made it more than I could have imagined and made me feel comfortable and safe while he worked. My tattoo is a stunning work of art that I am so happy to have for the rest of my life. I've gotten compliments from strangers like, "ohmygod your tattoo is gorgeous!" I would trust Roman to design any piece anywhere. I can best describe his demeanor to say, he's the kind of guy you want to be with if the building you're in is suddenly on fire. He's calm but confident, organized but flexible, controlled but not demanding. The studio has a familial vibe, that made getting onl...y my 2nd tattoo so much more comfortable than the first. When artists have down time, they check out each other's work, encourage each other, and make customers feel like they've been there a hundred times before.
