Unprofessional. Came from out of town and went in on Saturday evening looking to get a walk in or set up an appointment. I wanted a small simple owl tattoo on my wrist. First they were going to charge me $150 for it which was way over priced. Ronnie said they could fit me in later in the evening. Never called me until the next day (Sunday) wanting to fit me in around 6pm. Ronnie called me back and said that they’d call me the following day (Monday) to set up a time and has not gotten back to me. I’ve worked in a tattoo shop before and it doesn’t take 3 days to set up an appointment for a small tattoo. I leave to go back home early tomorrow morning and I was never able to get this tattoo because I relied on this tattoo shop. Huge mistake. Read Less

So I went here about three months ago and got my nose pierced, it somehow got yanked out of my nose this morning and I couldn't figure a way to get it back in, so I called them and they were extremely nice over the phone and told me to stop in. I stopped in and Ronnie, The original guy who did my piercing put it back in at no charge and even put some Teatree oil on it to help heal it. They are absolutely very nice and professional and the shop is one of the cleanest I have seen in the valley. I got my nose pierced here a while ago, but I wanted to wait until it was mostly healed before I left a review. This is the third time I've gotten my nose done because the first two (done elsewhere) were placed either on a weird angle or too high up on my nose. Ronny took the time to explain exactly why he was placing my piercing where he did and exactly why the previous placements were incorrect. Went to get filler done for a tattoo on my face. Guy rushed me, I'm pretty sure he was also an apprentice as he was also very unprofessional. had the machine set up before he even drew it or gave me a price. He drew it up and I was unsure of it, so he kept saying "the quicker you sit down the quicker we can get it done", kept trying to stop me from changing my mind on it. I paid $80 for barely anything, I could've just done it myself with my machine in the mirror at my house. Then he hit on my friend and made her extremely uncomfortable. My friend and i went for piercings, and after quite a bit of searching, we settled on SkinLab, which was an awful mistake. From the atmosphere of the place to the way it's managed, everything appears to be unorganized, and for a tattoo/piercing joint, unsanitary. All of this was immediately clear when we got there, but we decided to go through with it, anyway. But things only went downhill from there. The piercer seemed unsettled, to the point he had difficulty setting one of my friend's piercings--it took nearly a good ten minutes for that piercing alone. To make things worse, he got up and left halfway through, so he could go give somebody a ride...not exactly professional. Even after we were finished, things felt off. The cleaning advice we were given seems completely inaccurate, and this morning, one of my friend's piercings already looked infected. Needless to say, we don't plan on going back. Read Less

Got my belly button pierced here. There was a girl with a cold before I went in, and he took the time to sanitize and disinfect everything, even the entire shop. Said he hates germs. Is zero stars a thing? This was the worse experience of my life, I just asked for some simple Roman numerals, and it looks like a child gave me a tattoo. My boyfriend also got a tattoo, and they let him leave with unfinished work, knowing completely well it wasn't done. (We couldn't tell until we looked in good lighting). To be fair we went back in and showed them his unfinished work and another artist offered to touch it up when it completely healed, but honestly I wouldn't trust any of these guys again. My daughter attempted to have her daith pierced. He tried multiple times, poked 3 separate holes, and cut her ear with the needle near her tragus. We left without a completed pricing and her ear swollen and bloody. As we left the piercer followed us outside yelling at us, called me, then sent me multiple texts even after I told him to not contact me. I took her to Rad-A-Tat Tattoo to have her ear cleaned up and she chose to have her other daith pierced there. They did a fabulous job. Quick and easy with no issues.Read Less

The only good thing about this place was finding Brian Wall, a phenomenal tattoo artist (the other reviews praise him, by the way). The last time I was in here, the piercer accused me and my friend of stealing his marijuana that he had left in the bathroom - even though neither of us smoke pot, or were anywhere near the bathroom. He said he was going to review his security cameras to prove that I was lying. I've never met a stoner that paranoid in my life. He then went to go and accuse his employees.That same day, a "customer" came in irate about a tattoo he said was inflamed. Clearly, the guy was picking at the tattoo that was on his wrist.  The owner literally called my artist out of his booth, threatening this other customer. This was when Brian was in the middle of shading over my hip. This was also the last time I went in there. I am currently visiting Tempe for business thought I would check out the tattoo shops since I had some down time, usually get tatted up in California but hey I'll give Arizona a shot.I went into skin lab the dude in there was cool asked what I wanted which was a  red hot chili peppers cross with wings he was very professional took my number set up the appt. Next day went in met up with Dario he gave me a reasonable price looked at his portfolio every thing in there looked awesome so two hours later  the tattoo was done, he's very light handed one of the least painful tattoos that I've gotten and I got them everywhere color was nice and shading was great very pleased with Darios work. We drove all the way from Washington State to get a piercing and of all the shops we called and visited, this is the one we picked. Great service, very informative and CLEAN. No question what so ever that they use NEW needles and sterile equipment every time. Ronny was very professional and patient with us. He was thorough and very caring. Since we came from so far away and would not be able to come back to the shop for a check up (which I thought was awesome for him to want his clients to come back for a check up a few days later) he gave us some extra supplies just to make sure we would be ok. The piercing turned out just fine. It looks super good and we are completely pleased with the experience from top to bottom. I would absolutely make the trip down to get more work done there. The shop is really easy to find too, nice and cool and clean and smells really nice in there... Professionalism all around. Whenever I get work done, be it a tattoo or a piercing, I come here to get it done. Not only because it's amazing work that and because it's extremely clean (so much so that it would smell like a hospital if it wasn't for Buddha and his incense), but because the environment is enjoyable and laid back. I don't know what this person posting a bad review is talking about; the only artist that's worthy of staying at Skin Lab has been there since I went in about a year ago. I guess this person must have gotten screwed with some dingbat who doesn't know how to keep a job. The owner doesn't mess around when it comes to his clientele and his business I don't recommend attempting to work at Skin Lab if you're an inferior artist that practiced your work in a prison cell. If you're a terrible artist, he'll tell you you're terrible and get rid of you. Skin Lab doesn't promote inferiority and you won't get anything subpar from this parlor. Read Less

In my opinion Skin Lab should already be rated #1 for tattoo & body piercing in the area. They're 100% sterile and use nothing but clean equipment. The artists are very friendly & welcoming. Each artist has they're own style. They're tattoo's range any where from old school tradtional to new school, to fanstasy, anything you can think of they'll pull it off for you. Any of the artists are more then willing to sit down with you and make your ideas and dreams come to life. I recently had a chest piece done and it was everything I expected it to be. The artist I worked with did an excellent job. Very clean lines, and quite colorful with a touch of black & grey. Not only are tattoos done there but so are piercings. They're piercing equipment is just as sterile and clean as tattoos are. I've had my nose monroe and belly button done there and they all healed up great. Skin Lab is as far as I know the only shop in this area that has been approved to pierce clients with dermal anchors. Even if your not unsure about getting a tattoo or piercing, you can still go in and talk with any of the artists or just go and hang out and take a look around.
