I am so glad I came here for my first tattoo. As soon as you walk in through the doors, you get a sense of how relaxing the experience will be. Everyone was friendly, professional and informative. I also really appreciated that in every direction you looked all of the art and designs placed on the walls. Scotty is one of the best tattoo artist I've seen and he has done so many great pieces on my boyfriend! The other artists do amazing work from what I have seen. Came in for a walk-in for a small tattoo (my first!). I was seen by Lolo who sketched up what I wanted and before I knew it I was getting tattooed! She was great throughout the whole process, answered all my questions and made sure to take breaks to make sure I was still doing ok. My tattoo came out exactly the way I wanted! She gave me a couple bandages, some instructions, an aftercare sheet, and some stickers and I was on my way in less than an hour! Everyone in the shop was super friendly. I got my first and so far only tattoo here. I decided on this place because I follow one of the artist on Instagram and this is the shop he works out of. If you don't want to read the whole thing, this is all you need to know: Alexander James did a phenomenal job. I initially reach out by email letting him know what I was interested in and later on I stopped by the shop to set a day/time and pay by deposit.During my visit to the shop we also discussed the design of the tattoo. All  I knew is that  I wanted two flowers (rose & dahlia) in gray wash,  but I wasn't really sure how I wanted them to look like. Alexander asked me a few questions about size and placement, he also went through some books and showed me different leaves, which would stem from the flowers. When it came to the big day I was so nervous mostly because I was scared that he might have drawn up something that I wouldn't like, but when he showed it to me I absolutely loved it. I barely had a clue of how I wanted it to look so I'm sure I wasn't very helpful to him when he designed this, but he did an amazing job at putting it together.My expectations were exceeded. I thought I was going to cry from the pain, but it wasn't bad. I loved the design and the best part is that I get so many compliments and I've actually run into other people who have also gotten tattooed by Alexander James and we just talk and admire each others tattoos. Alright! busted. Even though my son works here all the artists are well versed in all aspects of tattoo. They can do anything...not saying they will, just that they can. Please remember this is there living not there hobby, they don't do this just for fun though they have fun doing it. Just like your job time is money, don't waste there time. You get what you pay for folks. Quality usually costs a bit more, you get quality at Black Sails.It's there for life bro. don't let some hack scribble on your skin and then go to Black Sails to fix or finish it. Highly recommend this shop. We (daughter and I) stumbled upon this place by necessity and accident. My daughter (under 18) wanted a tattoo for her birthday- the original place we picked could not work on someone under 18 due to business laws in their jurisdiction so we began our search online. As soon as my daughter saw Alexander's work on their website- her decision was made. By the time we got there I decided to get a tattoo, as well. Great walk-in touch up sitting with Kyle while in town visiting. His speciality is flash and traditional so I felt very confident his color application would be solid. He did a great job adding colorful life to a fading piece done years ago by another artist. Next time I'm in town I'm definitely going to get one of his cool flash pieces to add to my collection. Got a tattoo from Scotty. He is amazing. I'm not the least bit creative so I went in and told him I wanted a 3/4 aquatic sleeve and the rest was largely up to him. He exceeded my expectations. Chill place. He's got great movies to watch as you get tattooed. Also great at pain management. I was a tattoo virgin and overall it was not bad at all.
