Cool shop, but I did not like the artist. I looked at "Bubba's" art and I was surprised of how good it was, he draws and tattoo's well. However, his arrogance is was turned me off. He doesn't like to talk to future clients personally, he sends you to his accountant/scheduler to get the info. That guy is ok but just about as arrogant as Bubba. These guy ALL about the MONEY. Bubba will not do small tattoos, he will not do any written text, he doesn't want/won't work on any cover ups. He charges a 'flat rate' of 1,500 to tattoo you, but BUT he divides the body parts into portions. So if you want a full sleeve. That is going to 1500 for the outer forearm, 1500 for the inner forearm, 1500 for the outer bicep, and 1500 for the inner bicep. And that is IF he approves YOUR tattoo idea, since ya know, the tattoo is for him not you... He typically only like to draw a few things, they're in his portfolio. So if you don't want a ship, clock, compass, etc. Your are out of luck.I assume the guy's arrogance came from winning a tattoo ink show, so his head fill's up the entire shop. (They will ensure you see the picture on the wall). I have heard that he won the competition because of his partner in the show 'DJ', who apparently was the real MVP. But neither here nor there... There are better artist's out there, that are way, nicer, more friendly, cost efficient, and will just give an overall better experience. I went in wanting a sleeve tattoo, but ended up going somewhere else. Which I am thankful for. Saved me thousands of dollars, for an equal or better sleeve tattoo. Read Less

Bubba did a cover up for me and after 3 weeks it's fully healed and I love it. Old Town Ink was very professional and you can tell they care about their work. Out of the 7 tattoos I now have, I've only gone to one place twice. That is now thankfully all over, thanks to Old Town Ink, specifically Matthew. From the email process until the finished product, he was the most patient artist I've ever worked with and frankly, the most talented. He has been getting into more single-needle work recently and I took a chance on him after seeing his work on Instagram. I am over the moon that I did. He booked an appointment for myself and two of my other friends on the same hour and a week later, we are all still gushing over how beautiful they all turned out.  As soon as I walked in for our appointment, he had already designed mine based off the photos I had emailed him, and it was more than I could've imagined. There aren't many artist that do single-needle work here in AZ, specially ones that actually enjoy it and don't think it's a waste of time. He made me feel like my tattoo and ideas were worth his time, even when I was struggling to decide between two placements. If you want an artist that is talented, patient and genuine, do yourself a favor and go to Matthew at Old Town Ink. I went to Old Town Ink about a month ago for my first ever tattoo! We walked in on a Sunday at noon and they were able to get me in right away. While the design I wanted was small and simple, I was having a minor freak out before hand. Andrew, my tattoo artist, was extremely patient and encouraging throughout the whole process. He made me laugh, calmed my nerves, and never once made me feel silly for being so scared over a tiny tattoo. My boyfriend has gone to Bubba multiple times for way more elaborate tattoos and he and I are so impressed with his work. Bubba won the ninth season of Ink Masters so you typically need to schedule a session in advance. Furthermore, the parlor was very clean and I was given very detailed instructions for post-session care. Got this piece in November, just finished a light touch up today. Billy was amazing. As an Arizona native, I was looking to get a piece to represent my home and some of my favorite characteristics of this great state. My review is for my consult. I was in the area and was greeted by a nice younger man whose name I don't recall. I told him I wanted some script and he directed me to Jacob Husel who he referred as being the best for lettering tattoos. I then spoke to Jacob about the idea I had and only showed him a bad photo on my phone for a reference. He came up with a few alternate ideas and quickly sketched out a few options to show what he had in mind. I chose Billy Hermann to help me create my tattoo. He was very honest with me about what would and would not work. I am very pleased with the end result. I had a consultation with Bubba's assistant. The consultation was great. The staff was great. I am having bubba cover up two tattoos for me. One is a shark on my arm that I am covering up with a Celtic Cross and the other is a heart with roses that I am covering with a portrait of my wife praying. This place, nay, the people who run this place - are dope. After doing some research (and reading other peoples reviews) I chose to go to Old Town Ink for a consultation and to possibly get a little something done. I was greeted immediately upon entering the studio by Matt, who was working on a painting. He stopped what he was doing to talk to me and grabbed their current apprentice to help as well. From there the 3 of us discussed potential ideas and concepts for my cover up and I was kind of blown away by how attentive they both were. Their dedication to being honest with their clients while maintaining a serious level of professionalism was phenomenal. Not only were they helpful, they gave me their undivided attention and it completely superseded my expectations. After my consultation I decided I wanted to get  a little something on my finger but they wouldn't do it due to fading and the end result not looking good - so I left feeling kind of sad. I went home, thought about it a bit, then got in my car and back to the studio I went. With my design in mind but unsure of placement, size, and really any direction at all, I walked in to be greeted by Matt and Glen. After asking if anyone had time to fit me in Glen happily obliged and was so cool from the get go! I told him what I wanted but that I didn't know where and immediately he started picking different spots on my arm. We decided on the placement and got right to it....Glen absolutely CRUSHED it. I told him exactly what I wanted and he delivered. He was quick and efficient, and SO friendly! I wasn't ready to be finished yet so we went ahead and touched up my knuckles, and after that we looked at some of the books for another piece to add to my arm. He was so patient with me, and I feel like he really went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable during my time at the shop. I'm about the worst person to tattoo because I know what I want but what I want isn't always doable. Jacob killed it today and gave me the perfect tattoo of my baby girl's footprints. I am shocked by how it looks exactly like the footprints from the hospital. He added a lot of nice little touches that made if very special for me and my family. Sometimes I worry about a tattoo artist going slow because they get paid by the hour. Not true with Jacob. He had a good pace. Didn't hurry, didn't go too slow. Where do I even begin...I love everything about this place! The first time I got to check this place out was New Year's Day. I didn't know WHAT I wanted but I knew that Glen(@tattoosbyglencoit) was going to be the one to do it, this was to be my third tattoo by him and I am consistently happy with what he does. When I went back this week, Andrew (@ihateandrewmorales), the shop apprentice, remembered me from 7 weeks earlier (bonus points); I was there during his lunch run and he extended the offer to everyone in the shop....seriously, he's the shit...Glen was prepared and ready to go when I got there. I sprung one more idea on him at the last minute (I'm sure artists loooove that) and he didn't skip a beat, adding one more detail that made me love the tattoo even more. He is professional and friendly and his art and talent absolutely speak for themselves. My Boyfriend, Grandma, and I all came here on Saturday to get tattoos done. I initially made a flight from St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada (the farthest eastern point in North America) just to have Bubba work on a day of the dead piece I wanted. I was so impressed by his raw talent that I continued to fly down over the following three months to do an entire sleeve on my left arm. I'd have gladly paid double his day rate for the quality of work he does. Furthermore, he's just a cool guy who makes you feel like an old buddy. I don't know if I liked the tattoos more, or just spending the day with him. After Bubba finished with my sleeve, I booked in for a sleeve on my right leg with Matthew Stella (ihatematthewstella on IG) and I can't say enough amazing things about the work this guy does in American traditional style. We're on my sixth piece now and I had only intended on going as high as my kneecap, but have since decided to do the full leg; I can't imagine going to another artist for that style. I also feel the need to commend Bubba's assistant and apprentice Andrew M. He moved mountains to accommodate my busy schedule with work and flights to and from Canada, he even picked me up from the airport once and refused to let me pay a dime. He's also a talented artist and I can't wait until he starts tattooing. Keep an eye out for this guy. All the other guys who work at the shop: Billy Hermann, Glenn Coit, and Jacob Husul are amazing artists as well, you couldn't go wrong with any of them and they're all very talented. When you have clients that have been following you for over a decade, I think that speaks volumes.5 stars for Old Town Ink and the plethora of talented tattoo artists who work there. If Bubba ever decides to franchise this place I think he'll make laser tattoo removal something we only used to hear our parents talk about. Read Less

My wife and I have a few tattoos between us and on a rare Saturday without the kids we drove to Old Town Ink for some new tattoos.  We arrived just after they opened on Saturday July 9th.  My wife explained what she wanted.  I had some ideas of my own for myself.  Matt was available at 3:00 and do we went for lunch in Scottsdale down the road and returned at 2:45 and Matt started with my larger right should tattoo of a woman of the Day of the Dead themed Mexican art.  It was his drawing and he did it in about 3 hours. My wife's were smaller and he did hers in about 20 minutes.  They look great and compared to my first one I got in Ohio it was not very bloody!   The next day it was really nice and I applied the topical treatment and it's just wonderful. I would highly recommend Matt and any of the artists at the shop. They are very professional and at the same time fun and relaxed and the whole experience is one I will recall fondly for the rest of my days. Read Less

I had heard of old town ink through friends and wanted to check it out. That was over a year ago and 3 VERY large tattoos later. I work exclusively with Bubba Irwin, my first piece was a memorial sleeve to 24 of my friends I had lost during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I described to him what I envisioned and what he came back with was beyond anything I could have imagined!! I will trust no other artist to do my tattoos. Not saying everyone else at the shop isn't amazing but I have loyalty and live by the idea if it ain't broke don't fix it.The shop is very clean,the employees are friendly and accommodating, and the connection they make with their repeat customers makes me recommend my friends 10/10 times. Support your local tattoo shops, not chains or home done pieces. Like I said before I recommend old town ink 100% of the time. Read Less
