I was in search of a place to get my first tattoo, but I wasn't feeling the vibe from many places I visited. I was about to give up, then 27 Tattoo Studio came into my life like a shining light! The studio was exceptionally clean, all the artists were friendly and helpful. I met Avelourd for my consult and everything just clicked. He reminded me of a friend back in San Diego, so I was ready to get it done. I gave him a mock-up of what I was looking for, and he offered a few suggestions that made sense. This also showed me he was looking out for my best interests: short and long term.The process went smoothly from start to finish. I was a little nervous about pain, being my first tattoo, but after a few minutes, it actually became pleasant and relaxing. I was ready to fall asleep by the end, it was that relaxing. :)Over a year later, I am still 110% happy with my first tattoo. I had the pleasure of getting a tattoo done last week by Anthony. He did a custom succulent piece on my sternum and I couldn't be happier with the results. I was fairly vague with my idea and the direction that I wanted to go in, and was able to trust his artist senses. The entire process from booking, the consultation, to the execution was nothing but professional. I have two other tattoos and I can whole-heartedly say that this experience was SO MUCH better than the other studios I have visited. 27 Tattoo Studio is the absolute best! All of the artists are top-notch! I have multiple pieces from Vic, and couldn't be more happy with them! This is not a walk-in studio like many others in SLC, so if you are interested in a piece from one of the artists, you need to first call or email to figure out the best artist for what you want, but also to schedule a time to come in. This is by far my favorite tattoo shop I've ever been to! I cannot recommend them enough to anyone looking for a reputable and clean location to get a tattoo at. The atmosphere is very calm which made it comfortable and easy to relax while I was there. Each time I've been here I've had a great experience and felt welcomed by everyone in there. The artist I've went to for the past couple years, Manny, is extremely professional and talented at what he does. I was beyond impressed with the quality of his work and how quickly he worked (which was a plus for the ones on my feet, haha). I can't believe I waited so long to write this review! I was tattooed by Apryl in July of 2015 and my tattoo still looks AMAZING!I reached out to Apryl via email to set up a consultation and it was awesome to have such a one on one personalized experience. I've been tattooed by other artists in the area (nothing against them, Phoenix has amazing tattoo artists!) and the booking process with Apryl made me much more comfortable and excited. This is their business, but she did a great job of not making me feel like just another transaction/project while still remaining super professional (which is unfortunately also hard to come by sometimes).I wanted a mandala, something more feminine, but wanted her to create it and didn't give her much frame of reference. I wanted her art and ideas! When I showed up to be tattooed (which was WELL worth the couple month wait) I fell in love with what she created, and nearly cried when it was finished. She tattoos quickly and is super light handed, and gave me so much honest feedback about positioning and what not. I was originally supposed to be tattooed by Anthony but his availability unfortunately didn't work with my schedule. Anthony suggested Blake instead and it all worked perfectly with my schedule. Blake and Anthony were both extremely accommodating and I am extremely happy with my piece. I got this piece tattooed around 3 years ago after some extremely hard times and I love its reminder. First and foremost, Anthony is easily one of if not the best tattooer in AZ... if you're on the fence for any reason the wait and cost is 100000% worth it. Anyways, In March 2016 Anthony graciously agreed to and started working on my full back piece (nape to bottom). I'm pretty laid back in the sense that I trust tattooer when they say something will or won't work/look how I want-I'm an artist myself so when I get tattooed I try to let the artist have creative control, and was not disappointed in the slightest with how it progressed and turned out! Anthony would show me different patterns, sketches and positioning to choose from and patiently and professionally helped me decide. Additionally whenever I wanted something specific added Anthony always found a way to incorporate my vision with his! Lastly, Anthony and all employees are super professional and easy to talk to, I've been to plenty of shops where the tattooers are often yelling across the room to each other or making jokes, which is fine i just prefer my artists to give me their full attention while tattooing something permanent on my body, and anytime my body was exposed(to be tattooed) Anthony would offer a more private room . and the shop is so clean and modern, I've never been to a shop cooler than 27 TBH! Went in on Saturday to get my first tattoo and I actually stumbled upon this studio from yelp! I was very nervous as it was my first tattoo, but the moment I got there I was instantly put to ease. The place is so neat and clean and our greeting was so friendly and very professional. I scheduled an appointment on late notice, but they still managed to make time for me and get me in the very next day. My artist was Josh Cerny, a guest tattoo artist from out of state who will soon be a permanent artist at 27 tattoo. My consultation with him was very smooth and he understood exactly what i wanted. He knew exactly the size and style i was going for, it wasnt difficult to explain to him. The tattoo itself was great, josh did fantastic. Hes a very easy going person, very easy to conversate with! Another artist was in the process of doing a cover-up tattoo and it was amazing. Its very clear that this shop only hires artists who know what they are doing. The shop is beautiful and clean. I just got a tattoo from Anthony and could not be happier. He is a truly talented artist and his studio is as stylish and professional as it gets. The wait time for an appointment is understandably long, as he does great work and has a lot of fans. But it is well worth the wait. He was the first tattoo artist that I was comfortable enough with to just give him full creative control. I just gave him a couple of parameters and the rest I left up to him. I worked with Apryl and had a great experience. You need to schedule your appointment well ahead of time but it's so worth it. The studio is clean and they have a TV setup so I got to watch a movie while getting my tattoo, which was great because it took several hours. I love how it came out and I have received many compliments on it. I plan  on getting another large piece next year and I will definitely be scheduling an appointment with them.The photo is when it was first done about a year ago, but it still looks as good! The shop is very clean, they use all disposable equipment to avoid any contamination. They also offer water and snacks if you forgot to eat before coming. I went to Blake to get a tattoo of my cat's face. It was my first tattoo, so I was a bit nervous, but I could see how knowledgeable Blake was so that made me feel a lot more comfortable. During the tattoo he made conversation with my husband and I to take my mind off the feeling of the tattoo while it was happening. When the tattoo was finished it looked AMAZING! I had looked at his portfolio online and loved his work, but it's so much better to see in person!! On top of all of this, the tattoo studio was VERY clean and comfortable. After giving a lot of thought to what my second tattoo should be, I decided to come to 27 Tattoo to get it done because of it's location, and stellar reviews. The shop is conveniently located in the urban downtown area, and is adjacent to the Skyline Loft apartment complex. Upon entrance to my first visit to the studio, I was treated with hospitality, and assisted immediately. Apryl, one of the studio owners, booked my appointment, and was very helpful in giving me a price estimate for the piece that I anticipated getting. From that first visit alone, I was already satisfied with peace of mind that I was in good hands, with experienced artists. Prior to and on the day of my appointment, Apryl was very assertive and professional by communicating with me via telephone and email. On the day of the appointment she was the artist who completed my piece, and it could not have turned out more stunning. The tattoo studio is very clean, filled with fun colorful decor, and they even were accommodating by allowing my 3 friends watch while I was getting the tattoo done. All of the artist's instruments were sanitary, and every inch of her station look well kept, as well as maintained. I absolutely love my piece. Apryl did an amazing job with the font of the phrase that I chose, and I am so happy that her size and line placement recommendations were exactly what I wanted. She did a great job, and consistently asked if I was comfortable or needed breaks throughout the process. On a in overcast day here in Phoenix Arizona I walked in for a walk in appointment and was greeted by friendly young lady who referred me to an unfriendly old man. The old man told me that he refused to touch up a tattoo of mine based on the location, however ironically he had tattoos in the same location. I suppose he found somebody really dumb to do his. This place gets it. Like another reviewer said, from the initial concept and consultation, to the tattoo appointment and completion - this is how the tattoo experience should be. First off, the studio is very clean and well taken care of. The vibe and decor of the place is super fun and not the typical cliche tattoo studio. Apryl was awesome. I was both anxious and nervous to see my design for the first time but she nailed it at first sight without any adjustments. I let her chose the colors and I am glad I did, as she chose perfectly and better than I would or could have. She worked quickly but gently. I was super duper lucky in that she had a cancellation so I ended up getting an appointment the same week (SCORE!)Apryl is super professional, has great "tattoo table-side" manners and does PHENOMENAL work. I never thought I'd cheat on my other tattoo artist but I was totally wrong (sorry other dude). Healing process went great, and most importantly I LOVE my tattoo. After more than 18 years of debating what I wanted to get permanently scared into my skin I finally selected Apryl at 27 Tattoo Studio.Most of those 18 years had been spent trying to find the perfect tattoo, one with deep meaning.  I found that I could never find an artist that could match my high standards for these lofty ideas I had for my first tattoo.  After a dramatic shift in paradigm I decided to select an artist I liked and forgo the idea of a deeply meaningful tattoo. I actually found Apryl here on Yelp and saw some photos of her work and was blown away.  Her color work and shading are amazing and now that I've had my first session I was amazed at her skill.
