Got my tattoo from Jayare (sp) approximately 3 years ago. Still looking for someone to fix it.  It's so horrendous that I don't even know if it can be fixed. My friends and I went here today for the Friday the thirteenth tattoos. There were a lot of people who had the same idea, but Idle Hands was organized, professional, and friendly throughout. Pam did my tattoos, and was very outgoing during the tattoo. She has a ton of great artwork in her station so I am looking forward to working with her in the future! I saw JD here, the lines on my piece aren't fully connected and they look like they were done with a shaky hand... the thicker outlining isn't fully filled in and the 2 sides are not symmetrical. I'm only happy with this because it's a meaningful tattoo but the quality of work is less than acceptable. I got it fixed at a different tattoo parlor for a minimal charge but I won't be coming back here. Read Less

Jayare did my first tattoo. He wouldn't work with my idea and I didn't like his attitude from the start, but got the work done anyway. His after care instructions were as follows: "Use a little aquafor a lot of times." That's it. So I did what he suggested and used a little aquafor a lot of times. My tattoo faded drastically, and i understand that once the tattoo heals, the color will settle into the skin and won't look like it was just done forever, but this wasn't right. Then maybe about a week after the tattoo was done, it started smelling horrible and was very painful. I was sure it was infected. When i explained this to Jayare the response i got was "Well I've never heard of that in my 15 years of tattooing." I reached out to Rick and Tony from Kaos Theory Tattoo, and they were very helpful! They assured me it was not infected and helped me clean it up and gave me proper care instructions. Jayare always advertised free touch ups if the tattoo wasn't looking right after healing, which mine wasn't. Well, he didn't make the tattoo solid like I had asked in the first place ( I couldn't tell when I got it done as everything was so dark and fresh). It was very patchy after healing and needed touched up (for the third time now) and he was arguing saying I just wanted to alter it, which is not true. I got a paw print with my dog's portrait in it. What am I going to alter it to? A dog house? I wanted it fixed and done correctly. He did touch up but it still is not reflecting what I asked. I'll take my losses and go somewhere else to get it done correctly. Read Less

I got my shin tattooed over 2 years ago by JD and it still looks like it just got done. Hardly any fading whatsoever. Every tattoo artist I have met here, as well as the piercers and shop help have always been extremely professional and nice. Pricing is very reasonable as well. On a whim and a wild hair, I looked up Idle Hands with my man, and a friend whilst in town last year. On a search of "tattoo shops near me" with high reviews.... peaked at some photos.... we were sold.Booked an appointment for the three of us with David.I remember both, everything, and nothing about it, but we were all rightly pleased with the results.I held onto his card thinking we might do it again this year. I mean, why not? Sure enough, right before we're about to take off again for greener pastures(literally), until next year, my now, fiancé-man drunkly made an appointment for the two of us.We brang a little less of tha ruckus this time around, and David was nothing, if not 100% pro-fresh-inal.Both times we came with verbal pictures that probably would look(sound?) like a crude 2 year old's Crayola work, but quickly and artfully, he bangs out sketches that are perfect the first time around. Maybe he just gets us.....Anyway, he's fast, skilled, friendly, easy to chat with, and again, really professional.We even warned him we're gonna come back in next time we're in town before we left.Thanks David. I usually don't do reviews for these types of things but I had the most INSANE experience here with the piercer Jason. I came in for an industrial piercing. He tells me he's going to mark my ears with a pen for placement and then out of no where he starts piercing me without warning me first. I had assumed that I would be able to look at the placement of the pen marks to make sure it was to my liking but apparently not. I really wanted it at a different angle but it was too late. He offers to repierce me but I was in a lot of pain and I couldn't think about getting pierced again right then, so I declined. I call a couple days later to ask if he would be willing to repierce me at a later date, being perfectly nice to him, knowing there was a chance that he would say no. I wasn't expecting this though- he immediately starts YELLING at me, saying it was my fault I didn't get repierced right then and there and how that's just how they do it there, and that I was the type of person who probably always starts problems with my piercers. He escalated the interaction so fast that it was actually quite frightening. I understand if he didn't want to repierce me, and I am definitely not one of those "the customer is always right" type of people, but the way he was talking to me was unacceptable and really over the top. I wasn't there to argue but he started debating me and getting very defensive out of no where. Maybe he was just having personal problems that day but it was honestly kind of a horrifying interaction. Needless to say, I just hung up and accepted that there was nothing I could do. I'm not saying not to go here - It's definitely a good value and I've had my nose pierced here with no problem. HOWEVER, I would be extremely clear with the piercer about exactly what you want before you let him touch you. If you don't like the piercing, there is not much you can do beyond that point and Jason will be unnecessarily rude to you. Read Less

I called Idle Hands on Saturday because I was referred to the artist Joe Tower by a friend. I wanted to get a quick simple tattoo, script only. He said that he was booked all night but that he was open on the coming Tuesday at 1pm. So we settled on Tuesday. I showed up there at exactly 1 pm on Tuesday and he is not even there! Jason is the best piercer in Arizona! (Probably the best in the u.s but I haven't really been to many other places) I've gotten my nose pierced by him 2 years ago and he made me feel so comfortable I laughed the whole time. A few months after I got it done I had to take it out for a week and of course  it closed. That's what piercings do. But yesterday I went back and got it done again, same experience, and I'm glad! He is super funny and I have a 0% pain tolerance but it actually didn't hurt! A quick pinch. I will only go to him. It's kind of far from where I live but I drove there to get it done by the same person for a reason. If it's your first piercing (or your last, or anywhere in between) I definitely recommend him. My friend and I stopped in for piercings on a Monday night around 6pm. I got my nose piercing and my friend got his tragus pierced. We did not make appointments and were helped and seen right away. LOVE THIS PLACE! Jayare has done two of my tattoos. Not only is he an amazing artist but he's very friendly. He makes getting a tattoo a lot more bearable and less nerve racking. He's fun to talk to and very personable. The piercer Jason is also awesome. He made me feel completely comfortable getting my noise pierced and was friendly. I got my piercing here...Now I LOVE my tattoos, but I don't see the needle. I was really nervous and I mean it wasn't that much of a dare-devil piercing either, simply just my belly. But even when I seen the needle I hesitated. My best friend came with me and she was trying to calm me down but I am a big wimp when it came to me laying there waiting. I forgot my piercers name but him and my bf were talking the whole time. He told me he'd count to 3 and do it, but just a simple 1 and then POKE! 2 and then 3..We were DONE! :)Clean and friendly. I had a GREAT experience here.Back in November of '08, I went to go visit my best friend. I asked him where he thought the best place was to get tattooed. Without blinking, he told me about this place.Well, he had told me about Idle Hands before. You'd have to see his lovely face to understand. Boy sure likes his piercings! =)Jason the piercer is an AWESOME guy. Funny as hell! He's the one that does all my friends piercings.(the tattoo artist SAm does his tattoo's) I recently went back to visit a week ago and told him a dream I had...that he tattooed a giant butterfly with sparkly,laughing dolphins on the wings. Um. On my a$$. The whole shop got a kick out of that story.but anyway! I feel so bad that i forgot the name of the guy that did my tattoo, but he's the one with the wild hair! Super nice guy, drew a sketch of EXACTLY how I envisioned the tattoo. He got to work tattooing my ribs, and I got to stare around at some rather awesome artwork on the walls. I have known the guys of Idle hands for quite some time now, they are super fun and very talented. I have several tattoos and piercings from this particular shop. They have beautiful origional artwork lining the walls of the lobby and tattooing area. The space always appears clean well maintained. Tiffany their receptionist is so sweet and very knowledgable, she keeps the ship running smoothly. Jason the piercer is precise and has a keen aesthetic eye. He has done several of my more difficult piercings as well as a beautiful dermal anchor in my clavical.Sam does amazing custom work. He scripted delicut lettering onto my foot several years ago. It healed nicely and the color is holding perfectly.Jayare is quite the artist as well, he has created a large asian inspired rib piece for me which I am still in the process of finishing.Joe is very talented and sweet. I have a more traditional piece with an anchor and a ship on my other foot from Joe. He was comforting and made the experiance less painful.All of the staff and artists at Idle Hands are knowledgable and willing to answer questions. I felt comfortable there, and that is why I have returned on several occasions.I have nothing but good things to say about this shop.They have always been able to take my ideas and turn them into amazing artwork that I feel lucky to have with me always.
