This Tattoo Shop literally has THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE.So I'm a tattoo collector and currently have over 30 hours of tattoo work thus far on my arms and stomach. My first interaction at Knucklehead was with an artist by the name of Chris, fantastic artist btw, however as a customer with good money I was extremely dissatisfied with the way I was treated. I was able to schedule an appointment with Chris fairly easy but when it came down to going to the shop to leave a deposit and discuss what work I wanted he fell short. And after a week of trying to leave this artist a deposit he agreed I could go in and get my work done and provide the deposit when I got there. We agreed on a date and time that would work and sure as shit when the day came I received a text message last minute saying  that he went on an out town trip last minute and wouldn't be able to tattoo me until we scheduled a new appointment. I don't know about anyone else but my time and money is very valuable and to be pushed off and pushed off and pushed off is not a way to receive my business.. that was a few months ago and my second experience which was very recent this October is what is prompting this review. I was taking my sister to get her very first tattoo and my family wanted to be involved as she was barely turning 20 and our parents and youngest sister wanted to go with us. I've been to knuckle head and I know that they have a waiting area so on a Saturday night around 8pm we headed to the shop. We live relatively close as we're on the West Side of town and we're down the street. Walking up to the store 2 artists were standing out side smoking weed, But as we approached the door they looked at us like we had no business being there and I even tried to say "hello" and didn't receive more than a blank stare back. Entering the shop was no different as available artists stared at my small family unit as if they had never seen new customers before. There were a couple of artists tattooing and the shop was relatively quiet, approaching the front desk we were greeted briefly and asked what we were interested in getting, my sister explained she only wanted a tiny ghost on her wrist and had a picture ready for whoever would tattoo her. The young lady at the front desk was the most pleasant part of this experience and very polite. She went and asked 3 available artists in the shop if they would be interested in tattooing my sister...All 3 declined and continued to go about their night doing nothing in a tattoo shop without so much as a second glance. Fortunately for us the shop TATTOO BOULEVARD, and artist Marcos, just a block away was open and able to give my sister a clean wrist piece in 15 minutes with no issues and providing a comfortable experience for my sister and my family who wanted to see her reaction to having a tattoo in her skin for the first time. Needless to say knucklehead tattoo will never receive my business, yes there are talented artists in the shop, but that is not an excuse for poor customer service and disrespectful looks. Read Less

My sisters and I went in to get our sister tattoos done last night. Porky was awesome! Our tattoos turned out amazing! This was one of my sisters first tattoo, but porky helped her feel calm and comfortable. The shop was clean and very professional. Thank you for our awesome tattoos! Verry big place also has alot of tattoo artist to work with. Verry nice people.. They will work with you to create your perfect tattoo. Prices are verry fair. Parking lot is medium sized. Also has a awsome barber shop inside! They do great cuts there kids-adults! Love this place would recomend to anyone... Read Less

Alex Contreras was just weaving through traffic and cutting people off. After cutting them off, he didn't seem to understand why people were honking at him. He acted like he owned the road and everyone else was in the wrong. He rolled down his window and was cussing at drivers. He was driving his business vehicle, so it wasn't hard to identify him. He then cut people off to pull into a parking lot and caused a traffic jam. I'm glad that an accident wasn't caused by him. I love tattoos, but this isn't the kind of person I'd want to tattoo me. I walked in today after checking out the artists work on their website I felt confident that which ever artist was available would give me a great piece. Well Sergio took me and blew my expectations out of the water! I was getting my late dogs paw print with the word Siempre as a memorial on my leg. I was very open to suggestions and asked him to do what he thought would look best and with all of this freedom he came back to me with 5 options and set down and went through the difference in each and how they would look, and when we decided the style he came back with multiple sizes and again went over the difference in detail there would be. He was so great and took the time and went the extra mile to make sure it was perfect.While he was tattooing he made sure to move around and look at it from different angles to make sure it was just right all the way around. I have been going to this shop and AB Martinez since 2013. He's incredible and gets better each time. I never have to worry about the outcome and that says a lot considering half of my work from him is portraits. AB martinez is the best tattoo artist, I am extremely picky about work put on my body especially the little details and AB is very professional when it comes to his work, very detail oriented and his work is very realistic! The shop has an amazing atmosphere and all of the artists are so chill and kind. I love this shop!Reccently got another peice added to my Little Mermaid half sleeve by Joshua Hartsfield. I adore his work, especially disney and horror movie ink! You get insane quality with him and he will do everything to make sure your tattoo is better than you would have imagined. Highly reccomend seeing him for your ink, i followed him for 6 years on facebook, and seeing the insane progress in that short time span in mind boggling. Got my first tat that was started in a diff state by another artist but completed by none other than Piggy...aka Jose Munoz.  He was very detailed, attentive and patient with me because of my inexperience in the tat world.  This was the best experience I could ever have imagined.  My first guy acted like he was trying to tattoo my bone marrow and didn't do as good of work as Piggy.  I have another session to complete the tat (that's better than I imagined already) before I can post before and after pics.  I have family and friends local and out of state that want to come to him to get theirs.  Most of the staff I came in contact with was very friendly and helped out with giving advice or compliments when taking a peek at him in progress.  Not that he needed advice.  More like them echoing what we had already discussed.  My first tat was going to be my last because it was sooooo painful but now that I found Piggy, the sky is the limit!  Already looking at more options.  Take a look at some of his work @josemunoztattz.  And no I wasn't paid to write this nor did I receive any discounts.  Paid full price! I got my first tattoo here, with and at the recommendation of my sister. I don't know much if anything about tattoos, but I can tell you every artist in here had the most gorgeous work on them. Beautiful. We saw Angel, and he was courteous, professional, and explained all of my questions I asked. I'm still healing, but if I notice anything's off he said touchups are free. :) Read Less

This is definitely the place to go if you're trying to get work done. I saw AB (@ab_ink on Instagram) for a 3/4 and it could not have turned out better! AB pays so close to detail that it's unreal!!I constantly get compliments on my tattoos and even have people tell me it looks like a painting. My tattoo was overworked and has scarred badly.I spent a long time researching before I chose to have Tommy-Lee tattoo a memorial piece of my late wife on my forearm.My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare.First, while tattooing they ran out of wipes, so he used paper towel which left little paper residues every time the tattoo was wiped. It probably also irritated the tattoo.The session that was supposed to take 3 to 4 hours lasted 7. Which I did not complain about. I reassured him to take his time so that it came out good. Towards the end of the 7 hour session, he blurted "shit!" And I asked if something went wrong, to which he replied, "no, it's just everyone is a little different." Some non-sense answer. From there he seemed to just quickly wrap things up in a very half-hearted manner. Then he said, how about I give you a $100 off.On the portrait, one of her eyes began to swell abnormally within a few days. I took a photo and sent it to Tommy-Lee and asked what I should do. His answer was, "it just saw a little more trauma, it can be touched up when it heals Completely." A month passed, the swelling went away, and I was left with a giant scar. I contacted him again and again and asked if he has any idea what I can do to minimize this scarring, no answer. Later on I found out from another artist that this part was basically just beaten and overworked so much that this was bound to happen. I understand tattoos are pieces of artwork put into skin using needles. I accept sometimes things can go wrong. He obviously does good work, that's why I chose to go with the guy, but based on my experience, he is an artistic child with tattoo needles. I would be very careful about allowing my skin to be permanently marked by an irresponsible tattoo artist no matter how talented they may appear to be online. Read Less

Very clean and professional shop. I had work done by Zander & I was thoroughly impressed by his attention to detail and professionalism. All of the artists at Knucklehead support each other and it was nothing but good vibes here. I saw some amazing art done by truly talented artists while I was getting my tattoo done. I went on a Wednesday nite and every artist there (5/6?) were booked and doing pieces, nobody was sitting around waiting for work.
