Great Service + Beautiful Space I have worked with a couple of the independent technicians for various services and I am always impressed. From hair care, eyelashes, and even tattooing, this salon offers it all. I like that each technician/artist, is responsible for themselves, as it makes it easier for communicating and remember my specific needs/desires. I have had Mai ( the owner ) for years ! I will never go anywhere else. She did my wedding and everything else in between. She is a professional in every possible way. I didn't want to give them 1 star but you just can't help it when they have bad communication as a business. 1. When you call no one answers the phone it tells you to text the number and they will return your text within 24hrs. Not true! They take their time getting back to you. 2. I always feel like she over laps her work/time she is always late or text you asking if it okay to reschedule and when you do she never confirms or she asks you to text her later that week and she will reschedule the appointment and never returns your texts!!! 3. When you do get in, there is a wait time. I think they need more staff or at least someone to take calls and manage her appointments. I feel like she does everything, and her business is suffering because of it. She seems cool but it's like pulling teeth just to get an appointment. She is losing money and customers. If she is going to be selective of her customers she shouldn't advertise her salon like it's open to the public. I've been trying to get my hair done for months! It's not like I'm asking for the same day I'm texting/calling her. I ask for an appointment 1-2 weeks out and I'm willing to work with her schedule but she never returns her calls or text. My daughter and I had our hair done at Studio Mod and absolutely enjoyed the entire experience. Mai was so kind and definitely knows what she is doing! I love Studio MOD! I've only had my hair done by Mai, but every time I go in there the other ladies are friendly and their customers are smiley and satisfied. As for Mai, she does an amazing job. My hair is always great when I leave, but that's only part of what makes this place awesome. Mai is truly an expert at listening to what you want (or just your idea) and telling you her thoughts on it. She will describe how to do a hairstyle, like curling your hair, while doing it if you want to learn. I've tried a couple other places in Anchorage but Studio MOD and Mai are the only ones who really seem to listen and do a great job. 100% recommend. Read Less

Amazing and they just keep adding services. New space on Minnesota has parking and feels modern and updated. I went to see Mai with a picture from a magazine of the "perfect" hair color.  I was absolutely sure it would never work, but my boyfriend really liked the color so I thought it was worth a try....Mai made it happen and the results are so great that a stranger told me I have the "most beautiful red hair she's ever seen!"Needless to say, I'm VERY, VERY pleased.  Mai was friendly and welcoming.  I really appreciated that, before she did anything, she actually discussed and really LISTENED to what I wanted before starting.  I felt very confident that we were on the same page.Also happy to know she does free bang trims between cuts.
