I guess if you're going to spend the money, spend the little extra to book with Vinnie...?  I spent a really nice chunk of change to get my husband's tattoo "fixed" for his birthday, and we were assigned to a younger male artist. I don't remember his name. Granted, it's not always easy to correct someone else's awful tattoo, and the work did improve it some, however my husband did have to offer up ideas along the way. He also requested a small, simple tattoo of 3 triangles intertwined in such a way to make 5 triangles (for our soon-to-be 5 family members) - a line was drawn unevenly or asymmetrically so the artist drew the lines fatter, and what came out was not 5 triangles, but 4.  I got a small $50 tattoo 15 years ago that turned out way better. Could have been worse, could have been much better considering the price.  Somewhat disappointing for his first professional tattoo. Maybe just know exaaaaactly what you want before going in until you come to know and trust the artist you work with. Read Less

I decided to get my first tattoo here last summer after reading positive reviews and looking at photos of the artists' work. I wasn't entirely satisfied with my experiences here, but it could have been worse.I scheduled my appointment with Vinnie, who is only at the studio for about a week per month. I wanted to get something simple since I wasn't sure how I would respond to the tattooing process (didn't hurt at all since it was on my upper arm). I decided on a simple origami crane design with watercolor. I paid the deposit in cash (they don't accept credit cards for deposits for some reason) and emailed Vinnie some reference photos.The major reason I wasn't entirely satisfied with this place is because I wasn't offered the opportunity to consult with Vinnie prior to my appointment. I suppose this is because my tattoo was very simple and Vinnie is limited on time. But since this was my first tattoo, I would have felt much more comfortable had I consulted with Vinnie instead of meeting him on the day of my appointment. Since I was unfamiliar with the process of scheduling and planning the tattoo I didn't think to ask.The day of my appointment he quickly drew a stencil for the tattoo. Second major issue: The room I was in for the tattoo was right behind the front desk where I was visible to anyone coming in. I thought I would be put in a more private room so this felt awkward.The appointment only took about half an hour. Vinnie is a cool guy and passionate about what he does, but something about using a stencil for the tattoo based on a stock image felt impersonal, like the tattoo wasn't entirely mine. The tattoo wasn't bad by any means, but something felt missing and I couldn't pinpoint what.The tattoo studio is clean and prices are reasonable, so I would consider coming back here if 1) I could consult with the artist before getting my tattoo and 2) I'm placed in a more private room. I haven't had these issues when I got a tattoo at The Hole Look. I got a detailed consultation, a tattoo that actually felt like it was made for me, and a private, spacious room. So because of that I'm more inclined to return to The Hole Look instead of here for future tattoos. Read Less

Don't use the price to base your review off of. These artists are high quality AND knowledgeable. I am thankful I didn't get anymore tattoos elsewhere after learning that it's not safe to tattoo over beauty spots. Vinnie informed me of this and worked around them. My tattoo has only been through one session (I go back on the 27th), but it looks so epic! I don't want to go anywhere else and I'm happy I was finally able to be tattooed by Vinnie. I was able to walk in, with the design I wanted, and within two hours it was on me, looks perfect, and Vinnie was a wonderful person to chat with while it was being done.  I had stopped at two other places beforehand and called a third.  The first, there were two people there, looking board, but they couldn't get me in for a week, the second was closed on a Monday, the third I called said it could be months.  I guess it was meant to be because Vinnie did an amazing job and I will love it forever.  Don't look elsewhere, call Rebirth and make an appointment! I'm sure their tattoos are great and everything, but I called (multiple times) and talked to a girl and asked if I would be able to schedule a simple tattoo on a Tuesday at 3:00. She said it would be no problem, but I needed to drop by the store to consult with an artist. I told her that I was currently traveling and asked if I could send an email of what I wanted. she said that also wouldn't be a problem. so I immediately sent an email, overly describing what I wanted to give the artist as much info as I would had I gone into the shop, and I sent a picture of the area to be tattooed with references for size. I called the next day to confirm and left a message, no response. no response to the email. assuming this was an honorable and professional shop, I left my Seward adventures early to  show up to my appointment (30 min early). a nice lady ultimately told me that I couldn't get done until 2 hours later when I had something already planned and paid for, because I didn't have an appointment and they didn't have access to the email I was told to send my request to. Super disappointed and saddened by this lack of followup on their part. Read Less

I was told I could reschedule 1 time. Well they called me since my appointment was with Vinny. And told me he wasn't going to be back yet so let's reschedule. Ok fine. So when I tried to reschedule they told me I already used it and I had to be there at 12:15. Well I showed up at 11:30 since I was in that part of town running errands. Lights were off store hours are 12 to 9 or 10. So waited. Talked to my wife. Hung out. When front desk got there and unlocked the door I went to check in they said I was late. How was I late if doors where locked and everything was off. She said Vinny works whenever he wants to I should have called. You couldn't tell me this before. A cliche that stuck, although my one exception only served to prove the rule. 20+ years later, I'm running out of skin and still ink addicted. Vinnie's skills are sharper than a double edged sword, a blessing and sort of a curse according to father who knows best (bless his soul) - he's that good! After being referred here multiple times my brother, my sister and myself came to see Erin for some memorial tattoos for the recent passing of our father. We all had very different ways of memorializing him and Erin did such a fantastic job with all of our ideas. I gave her an illustration and a quote, she picked the location, size and set up and I am MORE then happy with how it came out. My brother was getting his first tattoo. He gave her a pretty vague idea and she managed to give him a truly awesome yin yang tattoo with a lunar eclipse in it. My sister had "laughed everyday" put on her in my dads handwriting as that is what my dad said he wanted to be remember by. I left this tattoo studio as a satisfied customer. I love my tattoo, exactly how I wanted it to be. The studio is very neat and clean. I love how the place makes me feel comfortable and safe to get a tattoo. It's not ur typical tattoo shops with graffiti all over the place. Although there is art posted up  inside the room they set you in but not ratty looking like most places. The girl who did my tattoo was awesome she was very gentle. Also really kind. So me and my girl friend went in to get tattoos she went to Laura who was actually very good but I went to Leslie and In the 2 1-2 hrs I was there get a tattoo finished (which had been almost finished already) and in the time she only got two parts done. for the amount I paid for my tattoo it should have been almost completely finish if not totally finished I understand if u want good work it takes time but for what I paid more should have been done!!!! My friend got a cover up and was about the same size as my tattoo and hers was completely finished in just 3 hrs ..... I was quoted 300$ at another place to finish the whole thing but decided to go to rebirth because of the reviews.... Well I will not be getting mine finished at rebirth OR RECOMMEND Leslie .... This tattoo studio is A+! Good customer service, nice people, and last but not least... AW SOME ART!  Vinnie is an awesome dude with Da Vince skill. I'm proud to wear his art on my arms and get compliment everywhere I go. His color is awesome and his black and grey is out of this world. I made the mistake of going to another tattoo shop before I went to REBIRTH and I regret it till this day. Vinnie is the only person I will ever allow to tattoo me again.The other artist are awesome too. Vinnie is always booked up so if you can't book with him the other artist there can hook it up. Coral is mostly by appt so u have to book her in advanced, but she is well worth the wait. The other artist are a little more available for walk ins, but don't let that detour you, they are very skilled and their art is fantastic. Apparently Vinnie's only here once a month or so, and in the mean time, he's left the place to the devices of Vinnie's Angels--the lovely ladies who are inking people up in his absence.  The cost for an hour of work here is $150, and all of the ladies here are the same hourly rate.  The work i had done was absolutely beautiful, but my tattoo artist seemed a bit slow, thus the work ended up costing more than was estimated.  Still, overall it looks amazing, and i am quite pleased! He did my first tattoo, which was on my side (bad place to get your first tattoo when you don't know what to expect by the way!) and he really bared with me when I started shaking and became a little difficult to work with. He also did mine and my husband's matching tattoos which, I must say, are AMAZING! We showed him photos of what we wanted, and he sketched up this awesome, detailed piece and we couldn't have asked for a better tattoo! Vinnie will always be the guy I go to when I want something with a lot of detail, he really has an eye and really takes his time perfecting his work. I have NEVER spelled marajuana or any other drug in that place and considering the enormous fines for such a thing it is ludicrous to even post that comment. Perhaps a customer, oh wait no they won't work on customers who are under the influence ITS CALLED STANDARDS! Anyone who has worked in the shop and been rude, inconsiderate or unwilling to work with customers has either been fired or was an apprentice and never finished their apprenticeship, as you can tell when you walk in the door. Coral is an amazing artist as well as extremely intelligent person and does some truly mind boggling work. Perhaps you should check them out for yourself and when you realize they are booked out in advance, only do custom work and have actual talent in their shop you won't want to go anywhere else. Okay, so I've been around the block getting tattooed. I've been tattooed in Florida, Colorado, Washington and Alaska. I've been tattooed at three, yes three different places in town here. My third one I fell in love with. In fact, I told Vinnie, regardless of where I lived in the world, I'd come back to get tattooed by him alone. He's a respectable family man with a keen eye and wicked skills. Seriously kids. He's amazing. He fixed three that I got in town here. Yes, three. I only met him because this guy I was dating was on a tattoo kick and was trying to complete his pieces...anyhow, the relationship didn't last, but lord am I happy to have dated that guy- if for nothing more than to have met Vinnie and his skills. Literally don't waste your time on anyone else in town. Not worth it if you actually want your tattoo to look good. Read Less

Funny to read other peoples reviews. Yes there is a waiting period to get into Vinnie, however that says something about him. He is great and worth the wait. If he wasn't so good there wouldn't be such a long wait. If you can walk into another tattoo shop and get right in with an artist chances are they are new and haven't built a clientele yet or they aren't good. As far as pricing goes, they charge the same rates as all lof the other shops in town, in fact they were one of the last shops to go up to the current rate here in town. With the exception of the Hole Look, they are the only shop in town that has lower prices. Again, you are permanently marking your body. With that being said, you don't just want to base your decision on who can do it the fastest and the cheapest. Rebirth Tattoo by Vinnie rocks! I asked around and some people swore by Vinnie and some people said to stay away. I went down to the shop to look at portfolios. I was mildly impressed with Vinnie's work but he's not as crazy sick as everyone had said. I just expected mind blowing for the strict pricing. All the same, I would have waited the 3 months to get in with him (for lack of better options) and paid his stupid prices if he and the people in his shop weren't so rude. The younger guy was too busy talking on his cell phone, smoking cigarettes, and playing on the interenet to answer my questions and look some stuff up for me. He and another girl who i think was suppose to be the counter helper were so rude reeked like weed and were obviously stoned and glassy eyed. Vinnie was almost yelling in his cell phone WHILE HE WAS TATTOOING SOMEONE and when he looked up at me, he had this air of like, ""Yeah? Can you see i'm busy?"" Instead, he asked if he could help me with something but his tone and energy was all wrong. The shop just had a really bad vibe. Like they think they're better than everyone else just because they're better than the trashy artist around here. The other artists were pretty talentless. I have a pretty refinded eye, having grown up an older brother who tattoos at an award winning shop and it was amatuer work at best. Save yourself the headache and go to the HOLE LOOK or save your money and go down south where you have more choices. The good news is that there are better artists slowly making thier way up here and Rebirth by Vinnie will find they're attitudes and mediocar work outdated. Read Less

anchorage has ALOT of bad tattoo artists. i'm sorry but its true. its not like austin where everyone is an award winner. good work is harder to come by up here. vinnie does good black and grey. really good. he posts his stuff on inked nation and other artists rate it. he always gets props for his work. if you're a serious collector of serious tattoos, then price isn't an issue. some people are cheap and want good deals and for them thats all that matters. they'll spent four hundred dollars on a phone but when it comes to tattoos its, ""so and so got this tattoo done by so and so and he only charged...."" i find that people like that end up going to the wrong person eventually based just on price. they end up with a tattoo they hate or that is poorly done. and it serves them right. and with regards to vinnie...his time looks valuable. i wouldn't bother him with some stupid tribal or script. i'd go to him for what he does best and gladly pay his asking price. its how business is really done in the tattooing work when you aren't just some co-signer. and as far as attitude goes...well, thats a matter of opinion. if you come in expecting deals and acting like a brat, you might just get treaded as such. i don't tend to have bad run-ins with tattoo artists because i respect thier opinions and don't act like they owe me something. anyway, there's talent here, some of the best i've seen in anchorage anyway. not just vinnie...there's other talent there. good people with good hearts and you won't walk away with an overworked, poorly designed, misplaced tattoo. Stay away from this shop unless you are wanting to get ripped off. This guy is one of the most arrogant people I have met.
