skinworx tattoo studio was opened in 1995 by award winning artist Greg Ashcraft. It has always been the goal of skinworx to give our customers the best and safest tattoo you can get anywhere. We are very versatile and can do what ever tattoo your wanting done. We always have experienced artist who can guide you in what ever your wanting tattooed.We specialize in realism, old school, new school, traditional, color, black and grey, and cover ups. The only limitation you have is your own imagination, so come in and let us create your new tattoo.

By far the most polite and friendly atmosphere I've experienced in a shop. Bryan took one look at what I was after and gave me a thumbs up, this is after having several local shops tell me "I can't do art like that, it's to photo realistic, would you like it in a new school or American traditional style etc". I chose Bryan from amongst their artist based on the beautiful pet portraits and wildlife art in his portfolio and he seemed legit excited to get to put this big colorful spider on me. They got me an appointment for less than a week after I came in, I was presented immaculate art (seriously I know it's on me and I should be happy with it, but the tarantula I have looks better than any of the similar pieces I've seen personally), he applied it pretty quickly to considering how solid the linework came out. I can clearly see the fine lines of each hair that adds this lush real texture to the piece, there are no bumps or hiccups or squiggles, the color is vibrant and bright in places and deep in other places with perfect use of shading so it doesn't just wash out at a distance. This piece was a memorial for my dad who had the same kinda spider tattooed on him, I have no doubt he wouldn't just be proud of this art he would be jealous. I'm super thrilled with my piece, I cant suggest these guys enough. Thanks so much Skinworx, thanks so much Bryan. It means the world to me and I'll see you guys again soon for the highlight session.

FINALLY!! A tattoo shop that's EXTREMELY NICE, PROFESSIONAL & IMMACULATELY CLEAN! The nice young lady at the front desk was so kind & patient. & the piercer, Greg! Of all the times I've been in a tattoo shop, he was by far the nicest I've ever encountered. I always just assumed that all tattoo artist had attitudes. This place is great! Can't wait to go back ASAP & get my tattoo done. I immediately called my husband and told him this is the place to go to get his large back piece done. These guys know how to treat their customers. The young lady that works in the front is always very sweet and patient and will walk you through any procedures you need or deposit info or how to get your tattoo ideas submitted.
The shop is clean and inviting. He talked to me the whole session just to make me comfortable and his work is awesome (happy to post once it's complete!). Great attitude, and he is not only talented but kind. Stop by and check them out. You won't be disappointed.

We were both scheduled to receive our tattoos on the same day, and a situation came up that was out of Todd's control and we had to push our appointment back 5 hours so there was only time for one of us to get work done. He rescheduled mine for the following Satuturday and went out of hi...s way to "make it right" even though I told him he owed us nothing. He blew me away with the upgrade to my tattoo I had planned on getting. True customer service is not what takes place when everything is going perfect, but what takes place when things dont go as planned. We had a couple of great Saturdays hanging out with Tonya and Todd and walked away with great ink. Nothing but positive things to say about our experience with Todd, Greg, and Skinworx in general. First and foremost he gave me the tattoo that I wanted instead of trying to talk me out of it or change it like alot of other tattoo artist will do that either can't do it and won't admit it or dont feel like doing it. Second he did an awesome job. Very professional and a very cool dude. I would definitely recommend Skinworx and Todd to anyone that wants a good looking professional tattoo.

I highly recommend this place to anyone that wants a shop that will do everything they can to make sure you are comfortable and happy with the end result. From the moment I stepped in this shop I noticed the friendliness and cleanliness of the shop. I was taken care of in a professional manner got to book an appointment easily. Greg was extremely professional which isn't what I was use to in a tattoo shop scene, it was surprising but it put me at ease. Getting a tattoo is always an exciting and nervous feeling. At first its hard to put your trust in a tattoo artist but I had seen his work on other clients and was too impressed to not use him. He didn't fail me at all. I got a cover up, a rose on top of a Celtic clover. After having it done for a couple of years now its still my all time favorite tattoo and wish he would've done all my past tattoos. I get so many compliments on it. I've had people literally stop me in what I was doing just to ask where I got it, who done it, how long it took and so on. So yes. I feel I can't go no where else cause it would be cheating.

I have NEVER seen any drawings, stenciles, or sketches from him that were anything but professional and perfect. He greets customers warmly when he can, but many times is busy....for a reason! If you walk into a shop and the artist is twiddling his thumbs, it's for a reason, he probably sucks...if you walk in and he is busy and booked for two months or more, there's a reason for that too....he's the BEST around. Greg at Skin Worx is exactly that, and nothing less.

I had a cover up done by Greg a few years back. One that I had gotten in my 20s that I was never really happy with. I went in and he free handed an awesome piece to cover a rather out of the books stamp from this other place I picked off the wall. Didn't have to tell him much just wanted the junk to be art. He was completely awesome. Even left my new piece open to be added to later if I choose. My daughter has had all of her peicings done from his shop. I don't trust many places that poke holes and needles in you as they aren't usually that clean. This place has always been 100% clean and everyone has always been polite. My daughter and I will never use anyone else.

Greg has no respect for his clients and won't even greet you as he walks by. My design was made fun of because he didn't understand what it meant. If you want to give your money to a guy who thinks he's a celebrity with a superiority complex go ahead and go here. I requested to have my design changed up a little and included a 10 min sketch and the owner/artist became very defensive and rude as if he had spent hours of time on these tracings that were fresh off the printer. horrible experience at this place! Not to mention a 3 hour drive round trip. There are FAR better artist right in Bham besides this joker and they are probably far more humble. Take my warning and save a lot of grief

The young lady that works in the front is always very sweet and patient and will walk you through any procedures you need or deposit info or how to get your tattoo ideas submitted.
The shop is clean and inviting. He talked to me the whole session just to make me comfortable and his work is awesome (happy to post once it's complete!). Great attitude, and he is not only talented but kind. Stop by and check them out. You won't be disappointed.

We were both scheduled to receive our tattoos on the same day, and a situation came up that was out of Todd's control and we had to push our appointment back 5 hours so there was only time for one of us to get work done. He rescheduled mine for the following Satuturday and went out of hi...s way to "make it right" even though I told him he owed us nothing. He blew me away with the upgrade to my tattoo I had planned on getting. True customer service is not what takes place when everything is going perfect, but what takes place when things dont go as planned. We had a couple of great Saturdays hanging out with Tonya and Todd and walked away with great ink. Nothing but positive things to say about our experience with Todd, Greg, and Skinworx in general. First and foremost he gave me the tattoo that I wanted instead of trying to talk me out of it or change it like alot of other tattoo artist will do that either can't do it and won't admit it or dont feel like doing it. I couldn't be happier with my "skinworx" art. I highly recommend this place to anyone that wants a shop that will do everything they can to make sure you are comfortable and happy with the end result. Greg is such an artist that he also paints and has those for sale as well. Such a talented place to go and experience a tattoo shop as it should be!! You won't be disappointed!!

From the moment I stepped in this shop I noticed the friendliness and cleanliness of the shop. I was taken care of in a professional manner got to book an appointment easily. Greg was extremely professional which isn't what I was use to in a tattoo shop scene, it was surprising but it put me at ease. Getting a tattoo is always an exciting and nervous feeling. At first its hard to put your trust in a tattoo artist but I had seen his work on other clients and was too impressed to not use him. He didn't fail me at all. I got a cover up, a rose on top of a Celtic clover. After having it done for a couple of years now its still my all time favorite tattoo and wish he would've done all my past tattoos. I get so many compliments on it. I've had people literally stop me in what I was doing just to ask where I got it, who done it, how long it took and so on. So yes. I feel I can't go no where else cause it would be cheating.

Greg did a great job on my back piece. I had been looking for someone that I trusted to do the tattoo for a few years when I met Greg. We talked and he felt comfortable that he could do the tattoo. He went over and beyond what I had thought was possible. Was very respectful while doing the tattoo. Definitely would recommend him to anyone.

I have NEVER seen any drawings, stenciles, or sketches from him that were anything but professional and perfect. He greets customers warmly when he can, but many times is busy....for a reason! If you walk into a shop and the artist is twiddling his thumbs, it's for a reason, he probably sucks...if you walk in and he is busy and booked for two months or more, there's a reason for that too....he's the BEST around. Greg at Skin Worx is exactly that, and nothing less.

I had a cover up done by Greg a few years back. One that I had gotten in my 20s that I was never really happy with. I went in and he free handed an awesome piece to cover a rather out of the books stamp from this other place I picked off the wall. Didn't have to tell him much just wanted the junk to be art. He was completely awesome. Even left my new piece open to be added to later if I choose. My daughter has had all of her peicings done from his shop. I don't trust many places that poke holes and needles in you as they aren't usually that clean. This place has always been 100% clean and everyone has always been polite. My daughter and I will never use anyone else.

The owner is EXTREMELY rude and has a superiority complex. I put $400 down only to have my tattoo art done by google images and traced. Even that took two weeks to do. Greg has no respect for his clients and won't even greet you as he walks by. My design was made fun of because he didn't understand what it meant. If you want to give your money to a guy who thinks he's a celebrity with a superiority complex go ahead and go here. I requested to have my design changed up a little and included a 10 min sketch and the owner/artist became very defensive and rude as if he had spent hours of time on these tracings that were fresh off the printer. horrible experience at this place! Not to mention a 3 hour drive round trip. There are FAR better artist right in Bham besides this joker and they are probably far more humble. Take my warning and save a lot of grief
