Ok. So I blindly asked for recommendations for tattoos in Birmingham. The exact words were "You'll not find a cleaner or more professional staff". The entire staff is filled with artist who take pride in their work. This is not a sleazy joint that is only interested in making money. Entire location. Immaculate Staff. Enthusiastic and Professional Britney completed my Doctor Who tattoo so quickly, so tender... at times, I had to ask if she was even touching my skin. The colors all look amazing. Rudest customer service. Three of us girls walked in and asked for a tattoo for one of our friends. We were rudely told "who walks in right before we close? We're not going to have time for that tonight." Uh...it was an hour and 15+ minutes before they closed. We also wanted a piercing, but due to the rudeness we stood there shocked as we were pretty much ignored until he rudely asked "want to make an appointment for tomorrow?" Can't recommend this place enough. I looked at reviews of several different places before deciding to come here for a nose piercing and I'm so glad I did. Spike handled everything for me. He was so professional, knowledgeable, and put me at ease right away. I was bracing for some pain but it honestly hurt way less than  I expected. I love this place! Got a small tattoo done by Brittany and my tragus piercing done by Spike. Spike is amazing. He's so gentle, the actual piercing wasn't painful at all, and my piercing healed beautifully. I also came back in looking for specific jewelry in hopes it would be in the shop, but it wasn't. Spike still took a few minutes out of his schedule to discuss what works best in my piercing and gave me a website to order high quality, sterile jewelry. I will speak praises on how professional and kind he is forever. Brittany did a great job as well. My tattoo was just lines and she was so light-handed that the ink hasn't bled or anything like that. I really enjoyed my visit! My tattoo artist was John. This was my first tattoo but the place is very clean and organized. John was super sweet and talked me through the experience which calmed me down! I highly recommend going and I will definitely be back to get more work done someday. Spike is phenomenal. Went to get a VCH piercing yesterday. It was quick and easy. Spike was very helpful with answering my questions regarding aftercare. He gave more information than other piercers have in the past. He also offered to help me change my piercing and teach me how to properly change it once it has healed. If you are looking for a VCH or any other body piercing in the Bham area, please go to see Spike at classic 13. However, some of the tattoo artist a bit rude. do not ever go to this place for a nose piercing. They literally did an awful job. I had to go to another place, get it taken out, she had to dig through my nose piercing, then had to repierce it because they pierced it so bad. Do not ever go here. Honestly worst experience I’ve ever recieved at a tattoo parlor. I have a service animal for my type 1 diabetes, and I was told I had to leave because my service dog was not allowed in the facility because I didn’t have her “papers”. I tried to explain to them that i didn’t need her papers with me because, under ADA law, I wasn’t required to proved proof of her. I also told them that they couldn’t ask me to leave, because even if she breaks health department rules, the ADA overrules them and she can’t harm the facility under the health department. The man that spoke to me continued to be rude and still refused to let me stay so I had to have my friend walk out with her so I could get my tattoo priced. It was a complete disregard of national law and it was insulting to me. After that, they outrageously priced my tattoo, pricing it 70 dollars more than anywhere I’ve had it priced. My friend came back later and had the same tattoo priced for 50 dollars less than they priced mine. It’s ridiculous how rude they were and how just disregarding of me and the national rules. I will never go back there again. My blood sugar could easily bottom out to a level where I pass out right there on the tattoo table, and my dog could alert me to that before I realized it. I came here for ear piercings. I got a tragus on my left ear and helix on my right ear done on the same day. It was $40 per piercing plus tip. Overall, i had a great experience. The person who did it was very clean and walked me through the sanitation process. The piercing they gave me was titanium metal which they said is the best metal to use for sensitive ears. I actually would have preferred to have paid more for a "prettier" earring, as I know some places let you upgrade to get the type you want as the first earring. But i totally understand, and I thought he did a great job and tried to prevent as much pain as possible. He gave me instructions for the cleaning process. I was surprised that they did a 14 gauge for both sides, as 14 does seem big for a tragus, but looking back i'm glad he did so it gives me the option to use a bigger earring if i want. But I think it'll downsize to a smaller one. I was told to wait 2 weeks before switching out the earrings. So far I am healing fine, and I have had no complications. I've already switched out one earring, but the other ear is still too tender to swap it out. I'll wait a little longer (it's been almost 4 weeks). I highly recommend this place for piercings. There is an enclosed room to do piercings but my husband was with me, and we just left the door open, no big deal. But you do have the option to have privacy. Read Less

I came to Classic 13 so that my sister and I can get a quote on how much our designs would cost. Brittany helped us with quotes and was very friendly and informative! She showed us around the tattoo parlor and showed us all of the tattoo artists portfolios. When I decided on a tattoo, she put up blinds and partition blinds so that I had privacy getting my tattoo placed. They're respectful and refrain from discussing certain topics (religion, politics, etc.). With my sister being below 18 they have an amazing and modest policy for individuals under 18 getting tattoos, with parental consent of course. They can help create a unique design with you and I will definitely be going back to meet with Brittany about future tattoos. If you want a tattoo parlor that is respectful, friendly, informative, clean and professional and receive quality work then I highly recommend Classic 13! Read Less

Ive been thinking about a tattoo for years and finally got the guts to get one. My friends had gotten their tattoos here so I figured it was a great place. The person that did mine, messed up! I got a morse code one and he added in extra lines where they did not belong! I understand mistakes happen but I was devastated. The owner offered to fix it free of charge which was helpful and the fix blends in BUT the lines of the morse code go from darker to lighter. Basically one side has a really thick black line and the lines get thinner so the very last one is barely a mark. I callback telling them that it did not look right and the owner said it is just healing. Well, its been a month and my tattoo has healed but it is still uneven. I'm pinning this on behalf of my mother who loved her experience at Classic 13, but hates social media and the internet. She has suffered from migraines her entire life and after much contemplation and research decided to get the cartilage piercing (daith piercing). She reported that Spike (the piercer) helped calm her nerves and was very informative. He was also gentle and polite and gave her extensive instructions on the care of her ear. Overall she and my father were both put at ease by him and found the experience to be very professional and the staff to be excellent. Thank you guys for being so great to my parents! If you want a piercing.... go here!! I just got my 2nd holes done in both ears. The place was very clean and organized, which makes a BIG difference (if I'm gonna get pierced/tatted, I don't want it to go to a germy place). I first came in asking for advice on another one of my piercings and the guy at the front was very helpful!! I ended up getting my ears pierced and my piercer was really nice! I wasn't to big of a fan of the building he was in but his work was awesome, so when I recently decided to get another tattoo, I hit him up and he was at his new shop classic 13 tattoo. I've been contemplating getting a tattoo for several years. I visited several shops, and left after several minutes, unhappy with the uninspired staff, and the lack of professionalism. I decided to give it one more shot. I was pleasantly surprised when I entered Classic 13, very clean, and everyone was very nice. So, I decided to move forward and speak with an artist. I spoke with Bryan Haynes, very nice and patient with my specific needs. I scheduled a session for later tha...t evening. When I returned he had the artwork ready, it was exactly what I wanted, and the size was perfect, still not sure how he nailed it the first time, maybe 17 years of experience had something to do with it. One of the reasons I have been procrastinating getting a tattoo is because I am a perfectionist, and I was afraid of of not being happy with the results. Such a great experience. I had been very hesitant, not about getting a tattoo or the pain, but who would be doing it and if the tattoo artists would be judgey with such a simple and probably popular tattoo. This worry could not have been farther from the truth! Spacious, clean, comfortable place and they truly care. I got a very simple tattoo and wasn't 100% sure of how I wanted it, so they tried a few different ways. It turned out great and I love it.
