I was very shaky over looking at some of the reviews on this place then my husband told me to judge this place by myself because they could have just had a bad review but when I went in today to get to dermal piercings on my cheek the piercing woman was beyond nice she melt made me feel comfortable and was even laughing and making jokes on the table. Incredibly disappointed with a recent piercing experience I had here. In 2016, I had my daith piercing done here and everything was fine, so I assumed it would be safe to return for another piercing. I wanted a second hole in my tragus. When I went in, I did not recognize the piercer who was there. I told her what I wanted and she seemed a bit nervous about doing it. I was skeptical as to if she had ever done it before, but figured that she was just asking so many questions because she was trying to be thorough. I asked if the jewelry we had chosen would be long enough to allow for swelling and healing, and she assured me it was. After the piercing, which was abnormally painful for a tragus piercing, she said "Phew... That was fun. Never done that before." WHAT? This should be disclosed before putting a needle through my body. She also tried to tell me to clean the new piercing with Dial soap. Anyone who has experience with piercings knows that you should treat new piercings with a saline solution only. After about two days, I noticed that skin was trying to form over the piercing. I went back in and requested longer jewelry because there was not enough room for swelling. So I paid for another piece of jewelry. Skin continued to try and form, and it was obvious that the piercing was incredibly irritated. A few days later, the front of the jewelry came off. I went to another piercer because Sugar Skulls was closed that day, and she knew my piercing was done incorrectly the second she looked at my ear. It was pierced at an angle, which would have soon migrated and rejected. I had to take the piercing out and let it heal. I'm very upset that I paid over $100 total for a botched piercing. I will not be returning here and would not recommend this studio. Read Less

I got this piercing back in April, so I meant to write this a long time ago, but I got my septum piercing done by Annie I believe, and she was so absolutely professional! She made sure both me and my friend (who also got a nose piercing) were comfortable, and that everything was completely sanitized. You can tell she takes her job very seriously. She made us feel at ease and talked to us through the piercings to distract us from any pain and answered all the annoying questions we had haha, and she did all this while she was really sick and obviously not feeling well, when most people would use that as an excuse to be rude and stand offish. About a week or so later when one of the balls of my ring fell off, I went back in and she replaced the ring and was really cool about it, and even showed me how to keep it from happening again! All I had to do was just pay for the replacement jewelry. I'd definitely recommend going here if you're looking to get any piercings, and hopefully I'll be back to get my first tattoo pretty soon! I've been twice now, both times had awful experiences with the piercers. Each time all I asked was that they change my jewelry, and it was incredibly painful. Their piercers are inexperienced and pretend to act otherwise. I left bleeding after the girl tried (and failed) to change my jewelry, and she insisted it was because the piercing was not yet healed. Note that the piercing didn't bleed when it was originally done and was a 1/10 on the pain scale. As someone with multiple piercings, I have a lot of knowledge with quality shops and this is definitely not one. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Read Less

I HIGHLY recommend this shop. My body previously rejected every piercing I've ever had and I came to sugar skulls on a last chance effort to help my chronic back pain. I've been in pain for years and I brought a reflexology chart and got 3 snugs and a cartilage done and my pain has actually decreased since then. I'm beyond grateful for them. Their customer service is amazing, the artists and apprentices here are as kind as can be. They help you through being nervous, make it as pain free as possible, and are so great at their jobs. I wouldn't trust any other shop with piercings or tattoos. Everybody here will make you smile and feel welcomed and comfortable. Worst tattoo experience of my fucking life. A tattoo that should have taken 3 or 4 hours took 9 and she didn't even finish it because she was wasted. Literally she chugged a 5th of gin so I asked her boss nicely if she was ok to finish the tattoo (obviously worried about the outcome of my huge ass permanent thigh piece) her boss didn't like that so she went and told her so then she came back and purposely scratched, scarred, and completely fucked my tattoo up. thanks Read Less

Got my navel pierced at the South College location. The staff was perfectly nice, gave me plenty of time to choose from many options for initial jewelry with a few different price points. However, I'm very sorry to say the piercing itself did not go as expected. The piercer seemed to loose her grip on the needle, back-tracking in my skin (this according to the person watching, as well as me being able to feel it) before slowly finishing and inserting the jewelry. Whatever exactly happened, it wasn't quite right, was incredibly slow, and hurt far beyond what it should have. This was absolutely my most painful piercing experience, including my nipples, despite being an incredibly common piercing by one of the few piercing places in a college town. I hope it was just a bad day for the piercer, but I will not be returning to this shop. Read Less

Got my industrial piercing at the N Dean location, piercing was done by Justin. I had a great experience there, the shop was extremely clean and Justin was super friendly and thorough with explaining the piercing procedure and aftercare instructions. Went in to get a piercing and Annie was so professional she took care of me made sure I was comfortable and the whole process was enjoyable. The place was clean and she took time to make sure everything was right. (Minus the needle going through my skin lol wasn't as painful as I though it would be.)
