Really friendly bunch in there and accommodated us all for three and a half hours in which time they pierced around 4 belly buttons and about 5 ears! myself and my girlfriend had matching roses tattooed here. overall a great experience. all staff were friendly and had a good laugh with them no issues with the people who work there whatsoever. as the tattoo was being done Craig was patient and welcoming. the only thing bringing this rating down for me was that we had to go get them redone as the ink wore away after two weeks or so. however this could be due to aftercare of my own. despite this, the shop reworked the lines at no extra cost at all. would definitely recommend and will be visiting again here soon. I had a very personal scar tissue tattoo done today by Sam and honestly, any praise I gave her would not be enough. Sam was absolutely incredible. I simply cannot recommend this studio enough. I recently booked in with Craig for a very personally important tattoo. On walking in I was greeted warmly and found staff to be very welcoming and accommodating. I've got a fair few tattoos which are both religiously (pagan) and personally important, but they are mostly hidden and have found other tattoo studios to be quite unfriendly, derogatory & in some cases downright rude about my tattoo designs. This was NOT the case with... York tattoos. They simply booked me in with no questions, assumptions or comments like "what's that about then" or the room going total silent when I walk in. I do suffer anxiety and talk a lot when nervous & am also limited in mobility but no-one batted an eyelid at this batty, over talkative, slightly podgy, limping, middle aged lady. My tattooist, Craig, explained the procedure and asked throughout if I needed a break, if I was okay etc. He was utterly professional & courteous. We had some gr8 banter too which I also find lacking at other studios. Also he didn't just do the work and sort go "that'll do" he took extra time to ensure every part was precise and even as he not only understood the importance of the tattoo to me but took gr8 pride in his own work. I will certainly be back for more work and look forward to getting inked by Craig again. It's also very convenient being next to union terrace car park...which in York is a big deal!!! The staff are really friendly, especially the guy that did my tattoo. We weren't offered a cup of tea when other people were and had to wait quite a while even though we had booked in, so that put a bit of a dampener on an exciting occasion. The guy was really understanding since it was my first tattoo and made me feel at ease so 5 stars for that😊 My tattoo is okay, the lines are a bit wobbily and uneven so i'm a little dissapointed with it. A tiny bit of blowout has occurred as I think the guy was a bit heavy handed, but I had no issues in terms of infections or anything. The prices are reasonable for a tattoo place and they do custom stuff which is also a positive. But I wish they had a collection of designs available that they renew regularly when those designs have been taken, that would be great. Read Less

Yesterday I had another fantastic experience at York tattoo!! Not only are these guys friendly and very professional they also have great music taste and made me feel completely relaxed whilst getting my tattoo done. I can not recommend this tattoo studio highly enough. From the very first time you walk in and talk about the design to the after care advice you receive it's perfection. Sam is a very talented tattoo artist who could bring my vision to life and merge 6 or 7 photos I had seen into 1 very cool idea. This was my 5th tattoo at the studio and I wouldn't go anywhere else. The studio is a nice place, and the artists I had, Craig, was brilliant. I am very happy with the work and have been told I can come back for a free touch up. Unfortunately the original artist was ill, but obviously wasn't their fault. Craig came in and I was told to turn up at 12:30, did have to wait as there were a couple of others in line, but overall was great. The tattoo has turned out well. Craig is a really nice and easy going guy, and I would definitely recommend to anyone else. Plan on having another done there by Craig in the near future. Read Less

I have 3 small pieces done by Sam. Script across my ribs, a highly detailed owl on my foot and a turtle tribal piece on my wrist. Each one is perfect! The detail and boldness of each tattoo has remained impeccably. Sam herself is friendly and approachable so even if you only have a slight idea of what you want or unfamiliar with the environment or runnings of a studio, she can take your idea and create something personal and professional and make you feel welcome. I travelled from Scarborough on Monday to see Sam for my Manchester Bee .. she's the only tattooist near me doing this for the charity so I made the trip for that reason alone .. I'm so glad I did! She's so friendly, professional and upfront. Passionate about her work and the charity that she is giving her own time and stock for .. I was impressed with the shop and I love my bee ..... a very personal tattoo for me as all my tattoos have been, but this one means the most. Brilliant large scale cover ups work done by Sam a number of times here, one of which all the other tattoo studio's in York refused to do because they claimed lines would blow and look awful - Sam did it and it looked fantastic no blowouts what so ever. Always get a fantastic outcome and definitely going back to have more work done soon. Always been made to feel relaxed and comfortable in this studio. I was only in York for a short amount of time, yet I somehow managed to get two tattoos while I was there. This was my first time ever getting a tattoo and I decided to stop here and check it out. The people there are so nice and the shop is very clean! They're even willing to allow you to message them about any questions or concerns you may have when you leave. Everywhere else in York usually requires you to book an appointment months ahead of time, but their walk in appointments made it very easy for me to get what I wanted. Went in for a full length arm tattoo on Friday, this is the 3rd tattoo I have had done at York Tattoo, and a friendlier bunch of people would be hard to find. I always feel welcome and relaxed. I have an awesome piece of artwork on my arm, perfect line work, excellent fill and top notch watercolour work. I would trust Sam to apply her art to my body anytime. I got my first tattoo here and Sam is absolutely lovely and has been so friendly and professional in her work, after my first session I unusually bled a lot, so today I went back and had a touch up done free of charge, I cannot recommend this studio enough, from the nervousness of my first one to the exceptional service provided I would recommend this studio to anyone who is going there first tattoo or going for there 20th tattoo! The studio and Sam have made me feel so comfortable about tattooing now, and if and when I get my next, I will definitely be going back!
