If you want to take your kid to get their first tattoo and really want to get their hopes up. Then take them to route 23 and get their hopes of a good tattoo destroyed. With a perfect stencil they can still mess it up big time and charge you a fortune. So come one and all and waste your money and time. Read Less

Top quality, flawless service. Easy to find, smells and looks perfectly clean upon arrival. Gary gave me tonnes of free advice & was very honest, advising me against one of the piercings I asked him to do. Ended up getting a smiley piercing and couldn't fault the procedure at all - quick, painless, super neat and well priced - Gary's clearly a pro as it was all over in an instant! Ther are many problems with rout 23 tattoos, rough uneven line work, piss poor shading that was delivered so heavily it has left scares, neither the machine nor the lead were covered during the tattoo and the chairs he had me sit on were a joke. I don't expext to sit in a wooden fold out chair or a computer chair to be tattooed not to mention the fact that neither of them were covered to prevent the release of dust into the open wound he'd just created on my arm. Needless to say I'll not be going back to route 23 and nor would I recomend anyone reading this review to (inless you're going for a piercing because Garry knows what he's doing) Read Less

Since I've moved to the area, I have been a number of times and Simon has done some amazing tattoos for me! Not only is he a great tattooist, you are made to feel extremely welcome and comfortable by everybody. My experience with Route 23 Tattoos and Piercings has been second to none, the first thing i noticed when i entered the shop for the first time how clean, it smelt clean, spotless in fact and warm with a big comfy sofa to sit and chill and relax before what ever one is getting done , tattoo or piercings, it's a very busy shop from opening till it closes , with that said no matter how busy Simon , the very talented , years of experience tattoo artist , or Gary who is also busy from opening till close the piercing expert , by gosh do they know there stuff !!! I have now had 4 Tattoos by the VERY talented Simon , You have a consultation first RE: what you want, where u want it, how big etc.. and Simon has very good sound advice, size, colour , after care the A to Z of the ' Tattoo' world . corny i know but this what this guy (Simon) does for a living and it is his passion and it shows with the work he does , his free style work which he has done on my back, i got the most amazing humming bird done in black and white and it is amazing even my non tattoo friends ( few but still they are out there) think it is one of the best i have done by Simon , i disagree i think there are all great, A very old (ish) tattoo i had , yet another bird a phoenix , and this time i said 'do what you do best' and i gave him my total trust on this tattoo and my gosh i was blown away, he brought it back to life, and i love it. I have an other appointment ,in 2 weeks (cant wait) for a cover up. I have been welcomed into the shop many times, nothing is too much trouble for the dynamic duo , RE ; my cover up and coming up with ideas and talking and showing me ideas he has come up with, happy with what i have chosen , so now i just have to wait my turn , total trust in Simon and his work just shows anybody how good he is , thank you for my amazing tattoos I would recommend you and nobody else for tattoos and i have over 20 tattoos Ciara Read Less
