As soon as my daughter turned 18 she decided to get a tattoo, something she has wanted for several years. She asked me to help as she has Aspergers with significant sensory issues and was concerned that having a tattoo done would prove difficult. I was new to the world of tattooing and nervous about the whole thing to be honest. We researched online and came across the Tattoo Workshop in Brighton with all positive reviews. From the moment we phoned and explained the situation Jess on reception was welcoming and helpful. She and Les (Makepeace) made arrangements so that our first visit just to meet and discuss the prospective tattoo was as relaxed and ‘safe’ as possible. Les was just amazing, putting my daughter at her ease, acknowledging and accommodating her difficulties without being patronising, and working with her design ideas. He came up with a final design which she loved. He made special arrangements and allowances so that the actual tattooing sessions would be as easy and stress free as possible. He talked through all the equipment and procedures, he was scrupulous about hygiene, he reassured and he was so very gentle though also surprisingly fast. His lovely kindly and supportive approach helped bring out the determination and strength of which my daughter is capable. She sat really well and was thrilled with the end result.
