Day 1 in new Prince of Wales Road shop Chris online was very helpful sorting appointment and welcome was friendly but sadly that's where the positive feedback ends. I have many tattoos and the process is generally the same, not here so much... Completed the usual consent forms (not that it mattered as no-one looked at them) Was booked with Michael. First tattoo is Arabic script on my spine. On placement he asked Sobie "is this ok?" ok is on my spine so not easy for me to see and better to get second opinion but then Sobie tells him to take photo and show me, like he's never done this before...Does not fill you with confidence when the person inking is under instruction trust me. In hindsight I should have left there and then and trusted my gut! Spines sting a bit guys if you've never had one...The placement and overall look in mirror was ok from what I could see over my shoulder. Truth is, once I got a second mirror at home it is a very shaky finish and lines are by no means even, starts thin and fine at the bottom and gets thicker as the script gets higher. Once completed was not covered , which always happens for hour after new tattoo. Second tattoo was 5 stars on my ankle. Getting them placed was a mission in its self, you expect a level of artistic flare with tattoo artists , all previous ones have had so the "stick this one here?" No that does not flow around my foot chat went on a while.. picture says it all really. I had to ask for him to try and even most of them as so uneven but the more they were adjusted the worse they got. even have extra tiny line on one tip for some reason. I wanted the big star with double outline but once star was on and Michael was hesitating saying "ok I'll TRY and do the double outline now" it was clear that was never gonna happen (or well anyway) so I just asked him to shade the corners out instead. overall look is so child like is not funny and now I am stuck with them. No after care advice was given, which is common practise no matter how many tattoos you have. My friend had 2 with Sobie while I was there, her first ink, and she was not given any either...Sobie's tattoos were much better quality for the record. There is no better feeling when you leave with a new tattoo you love and can't wait to show off, but trust me It's total opposite when this does not happen and you pay for something you are stuck with as apposed to excited by. nowhere on Rises blog, website, listings is there even a mention of Michael... Did they just grab the guy of the street to have a go? I will not be going back! Read Less

I've had three piercings done by the lovely Kaiya; she's so friendly that it puts you completely at ease, and she's gone out of her way to help me plan tattoos as well. The place has such a welcoming atmosphere - I'm always offered a coffee when I go in - and that's something that's conspicuously lacking in so many tattoo parlours. Even as someone who's been to a lot of them, I always find going to a new one intimidating because the people inside are often brusque and a little arrogant, but Rises is the opposite.
