Where do I begin? Such a beautiful, modern and spacious studio, with the BEST staff you could wish to meet. From the front of house who are so helpful and welcoming (always offered sweeties, pillows and hot water bottles by the wonderful Jenny, to keep us comfy and warm when the long session pains kick in!) to the amazing artists and owners who are some of the most talented and knowledgable people in the industry and will take your basic ideas and grow them into some beautiful works of art beyond which you could imagine. I've been getting tattooed for 14+ years now and I have never felt more comfortable in a studio than I do at Aurora. I will never go anywhere else again. All of the artists are more than capable of whatever design and style you are wanting, but the professionalism and dedication to the industry will make you trust they can recommend which artist's favoured style would be best suited for your ideas, and they do! I have been tattooed by Martin and Sammi and I couldn't be more pleased with all of the work I have had done. They also feature some incredible guest artists. I can't sing their praises high enough. I had my first tattoo yesterday and everything from the initial walking in to book an appointment and discuss designs to actually having it done was as it should be. All the staff are great, friendly, approachable and answer all questions and concerns honestly and openly. The premises is spotless, bright and airy. The downstairs area where the tattoos are done is open (not to mention the fine taste in music!) I was tattooed by Sammi who is excellent, I felt totally at ease with her and she takes the time to ensure your design is exactly how you want it and where you want it offering opinion on size and location should it not be quite right. I came in yesterday for my first tattoo. I was suffering with anxiety, but the atmosphere was so relaxed and friendly that it quickly dispersed. Sammi was an absolute legend, really put me at ease and explained every step of the process, regularly checking how I was feeling. It is impossible to exaggerate how amazing this place is! Everyone is so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble (and I did put that to the test!). I am absolutely thrilled with my latest tattoo and I had a really lovely day having it done. Emma is so incredibly talented and really listened to my design requirements, she really understood me and created something that is very personal and just stunning. Jenny is just the nicest person ever with infinite patience and... Sam goes out of his way to be helpful and accommodating, they all work so well together with a clear goal or giving an amazing experience and fabulous tattoos. From start to finish Aurora where absolutely amazing, sadly my dog passed away in January and I always said I'd get her paw print tattooed on me. But as this was my first tattoo I was nervous about it being perfect, about it In general and just curious about the whole process and from the second I spoke to Aurora I felt at ease, after meeting Sammi I was so excited for my tattoo and lost all the nerves and they were replaced with excitement, as she filled me with confidence a...nd was very honest with me, which you need! I traveled from Leeds as this tattoo was so important to me and had to get it right - and I haven't got any regrets the whole experience was amazing. If you are thinking of a new tattoo or add to a collection, then I highly recommend Aurora Tattoo. I wanted a tattoo in memory of my late husband who I lost in a motorcycle accident just over 2.5yrs ago, so it had to be perfect. I first came to Aurora approx 12months ago for the 1st part of my tattoo, and then my second visit was yesterday (19th) which was a portrait of my lovely husband. I was so scared incase it didn't look like him or capture his cheeky grin, but I needn't... of worried. Emma was going to be doing the tattoo and she re-assured me that I had nothing to worry about. She understood how important and special this was too me. Emma and the rest of the artists are FANTASTIC!!! they all make you feel so welcome and are always chatting, laughing or singing. Had a full day with Sammi yesterday for a back piece. The first thing that struck me was how bright and clean Aurora was. I was obviously had the pre tattoo nerves (the ones you get when your pretending your cool with it, but really youve not slept the night before and smoked non stop). I felt at ease straight away, as every artist came and said hello. They were all so friendly. I was offered a brew straight away and shown where the toilets were - not a luxury ive ever ha...d with any of my other tattoos. All the artists made you feel like you belonged there. Sammi was so lovely, and didnt mind that I brought my own music to zone out to. She let me go for a break whenever I wanted, and was just plain lovely. I had to wait an hour for my lift home, and they were fine with me just chilling there, and still made me brews while I waited. You really do feel like you are part of something there. Its such an awesome place, very profesional, yet very friendly at the same time. Id already booked my next one before I left, and cant wait to come back. I've been to several tattoo studios in the last few years, the majority of which were in the supposedly affluent south east, near my home town of Crawley, Sevenoaks and Colchester and the majority so far have been dingy, poorly equipped places that are as forgettable as they are poor. I arrived at the door of aurora late on a Saturday night to check it out (easy to miss in the dark), and thoroughly expected more of the same, so imagine my surprise on entering that it's like ...something from the lion, the witch and the wardrobe! It's like the tardis inside and completely throws you from the start. It's light, bright, airy, with tall ceilings, some lovely furniture and kit, the most impressive electric beds I have ever seen in a studio. Now bear in mind I was here having a guest tattoo me. In the past at other vastly more inferior studios I have visited this has meant the artist has agreed to a massive cut of his work being paid to use the studio and in return the artist was not allowed to use anything other than a cheap massage table and a three pin plug. This led to the guest artist being pretty upset and a fairly poor customer experience all round. So imagine my surprise at being greeted by Sam offered tea and coffee, complete the usually mandatory and always ignored by others standard health forms, after which same came back to ask my diabetes, point out the free lollipops if my blood sugar drops, and to let my artist know as well whilst checking I had brought sufficient food, drink and any medication, what bloody heresay is this, it's like being tattood in a completely different country with manners and a level of customer service that are unheard of in this industry. Even the guest artists were blown away! On a return trip the next day for my wife's tattoo - and a cheeky second one for me we also got to meet the lovely Emma, which was like meeting an old friend, such a welcome... Here is an odd thing, so impressed with aurora's studio, customer service and friendliness that my wife and I would gladly make the 300 mile each way trip to not only use this studio but the resident artists as well, because if they tattoo half as well as the service experienced they will be cracking artists. Great day at Aurora with really friendly and helpful staff. I had a fantastic day with Martin, first sitting of 5 hours to do a cover up and he got loads done.
