I have known Mason for a few years now and three years ago spoke about a tattoo I wanted. Fast forward to March & I finally ran out of excuses to not have it done and spoke to Mason to book my sitting. The earliest he could book me in was May 4th. 2 months seems like a long time but is more a testament to just how good Mason & everyone is. Proper tattoo artists, not print it off a computer and have any colour as long as it's blue. My son came here to get his first tattoo. He said he was nervous at first and this was only made worse by the lack of interest the staff seemed to show him upon going to make his booking and asked a few questions. The staff are always super friendly when you show up and help point you to where or who you need to talk too. My tattoo was done by Connor and he was very polite and calm which help when it’s your first! We spoke about different designs and was fully open to my requests. All the artists are extremely friendly and take their time and effort to create the piece of art that you have you heart set on. They are always up for bouncing ideas around and coming to the best design possible for you. They are all talented people and extremely worth the money they charge. The whole shop is clean and well managed and looked after providing the upmost confidence in the cleanliness and safety of all the customers and artists. I cant reconmned a better place in Basingstoke to get a tattoo wether its your first or 50th. Read Less

Visiting the Poison Ink tattoo shop is like a wild ride upon the Starship Bistromath in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Substituting the waiters are the tattooists. Are they surly or obsequious? The answer is both. The atmosphere on entering for the first time, is that of a hippie stumbling carelessly into a Hell’s Angel clubhouse three hours after the Police raided the joint. They could do with a full-time receptionist with people skills and it took ten minutes to any get any coherent sign of life to acknowledge our meagre existence. They don't do walk-ins. But at least our reluctant host did discuss and listen to our needs then try to secure a spot from a tattooist who looked like he forgot to do his homework from the night before and was therefore too busy. Leaving, having paid the usual £40 deposit for a two week wait. Appointment day arrives. The design left there did not materialise and neither was it used in advance to plan anything. Backup picture from my phone saved the day from a hurried internet search looking at poor quality pixelated images. But good artwork requires good research and preparation. This at least I had done. Once in the saddle though the tattooists are at their best. When they know what they are about; and that is skilfully pushing ink in skin. They ease comfortably into a free-flow of work, relax a bit whilst talking to their subject, like a mortician might talk gently to the dead. Taking heed of any customer feedback about the tattoo design and making sure they are getting exactly what they want. You get what you pay for - and at that price you should feel like a million dollars when you walk out door. And you do. Anything else is your reality. Substitute it how you will. Read Less

Strange place walked in and asked them to copy an image for my arm. The guy on the counter was unfriendly and told me it couldn't be done unless it was blown up ten times the size I wanted. I left and went to to Top Gun Tattooing in Reading where the guy there said it was easy and it was no problem at all; to be fair he is award winning and international class. Read Less

First Class! A great vibe in the studio, with all the artists more than willing to give you advice and make sure you get the not only an amazing tattoo, but a great experience with it!
