Writing a review for a studio where most of the team is excellent, but one bad experience overshadows everything else, is challenging. I've had great interactions with Mark Dann, who has been helping me with tattoo removal, and my experience with him has been nothing but positive.
However, my attempt to book a tattoo with another artist at the studio, Lydia, was a different story. From the outset, communication with her was slow and inconsistent, which I understood could be due to her workload, so I remained patient. I clearly outlined my design idea and placement from the start, and there were no issues with it throughout our messages. To simplify the process, I even designed the tattoo myself, given the already sparse communication.
After agreeing on a date, I didn’t hear anything for three weeks, but the studio confirmed my appointment when I reached out, so I assumed everything was on track. Unfortunately, on the day of the scheduled appointment, Lydia informed me that the date was no longer available as it had been booked by someone else. She also backtracked on the design, stating that it "wouldn’t work on the area" I had chosen, despite this not being an issue before. She has shown no initiative in trying to help me change or discuss the placement, and there was no constructive feedback throughout to even correct this.
Overall, the experience felt highly unprofessional and left me with a negative impression of both Lydia and, by extension, the studio. While Lydia has a great artistic style, the lack of communication and poor customer service made me lose confidence in her work altogether.
It’s unfortunate, because this review doesn’t reflect the rest of the studio, where I hope the work ethic is better. But I feel like I wasted months trying to get this done with her, and if I had known this would be the outcome, I wouldn’t have bothered in the first place and instead tried booking with a more professional artist.
