The piercer made a mistake while piercing one of my seconds (lobe)- half way through he said "...oh" (as if to say "oops") then moved the needle and continued. He didn't say anything else though, so I thought it was nothing. I have so much trouble trying to change it now and it can be quite painful so I've just let it heal. Over all the piercer wasn't very welcoming and barely said a word to me the entire time. HOWEVER- the studio has good prices and is very clean. I used Area 51 for tattoos and laser removal - I was overcharged for my laser sessions and after leaving a deposit for a cover up, 18 months later, being sick of being constantly ignored, I got my deposit refunded and went elsewhere - they do not appreciate or value repeat business!!! EDIT - since posting this review, Area 51 have now removed their review feature from their Facebook page and have also amended their prices, probably to match what they were overcharging me! I went to get my septum done at Area 51. I got called in the room by a guy who was going to pierce my septum through the low thick part of my nose which made me uncomfortable... I spoke up and he proceeded to say that he was the piercer and that is the place it goes which made me more anxious. He said I don't have to get it pierced... the reason I went was to get it pierced! I am so happy a man called Duncan walked in the room as he said It was okay to pierce higher just under my cartilage. He took over which made me feel a lot better. Last year I went out in search of a tattooist to design and ink a rather large roses (and swirly bits) piece on my side. Met a few arrogant idiots on the way, but as soon as i walked into Area 51 and found Duncan, I knew my search was over! He is one of the nicest, most patient people I have ever met, and an amazingly talented artist. He puts you at ease straight away and his professionalism and attention to detail are unparalleled. Area 51 has a great atmosphere, all the staff are friendly and welcoming, and I've always found the cleanliness to be of the highest standard.The tattoo rooms are upstairs away from the main shop floor, which i love as you can really relax, listen to music and enjoy the experience. I cannot recommend this place (and Duncan) highly enough to anyone looking to get any tattoos/piercings. I will most definitely be back for more!! 5 big stars from me :) xx Read Less

Had my first tattoo (tiger feather) done by Kev and I absolutely love it. The tiger looks amazing and he made the feather softer than the picture I gave him which is what I really wanted. I visited Area 51 for 3 piercings yesterday. I was only booked in for 1 but they did all 3 for me. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Duncan who did my piercings was very quick and efficient at doing them. Very clean and tidy premises with a very professional feel all round. Got my nose pierced here, was told to keep it in for 6 weeks when in fact I have have to keep it in for three months, went to get it changed, it was sore when the guy took it out and said 'we shouldn't change it when it's sore, but I'll do it anyway' and now my nose has a massive lump on the side of the piercing which is now infected. The ring the guy used is way too thin which is why I have a lump. Very unprofessional. Read Less
