I have wanted to get a tattoo for about 40 years! In October 2017, I decided to research local tattoo artists in Derby in order to carry out the deed. I came across A Magickal Place. I was very impressed with all of the 5 star ratings given and comments made by their many satisfied customers. I contacted the studio and spoke to Jaff and explained to him want I wanted to achieve and if was possible. I immediately knew that this guy was sound and competent. I arrived for my first tattoo on time and was made to feel very welcome by Jaff and his wife. He made me very relaxed and explained what he was going to do and how long each session would take in order to complete my piece of body art. This he did over two sessions, 5 hours of work and the whole experience was brilliant. I could not have asked for more. I have since returned for a further tattoo that took 3 sessions and 7 hours in all to complete. My Koi and Dragon Koi tattoos are fantastic and the sleeve is completed. Everyone, that has seen them, cannot believe the standard of tattooing, as they are fantastic. Jaff did some rework on one of my tattoos which has totally transformed it and brought it to life. To say im happy with it would be an under statement. I cannot recommend the place enough. Not only are they incredible artists but also from the moment you walk through the door you are made to feel relaxed and welcome by ALL the staff. Was the first customer there, got my amazing tattoo by James, and was greeted like I was an old friend. Didn't stop talking all throughout whilst the tattoo was done, and the finished tattoo looked even better than I imagined. Had my tattoo Wednesday with jaff showed him my ideas and he put an amazing peace together out of them ! So pleased looks amazing ! Didn't take all that long but did an amazing job ! Had a perfect circle Native American totem sign done by Ste Wig. Made to feel really welcomed by the staff, they do lovely coffee and the place was spotless and clean. I had a fantastic tattoo experience here at the weekend, it really was AMAZING!! Jaff did a superb job on my modest bird design; he was really precise and made sure I got exactly what I wanted -the pricing was very reasonable too. Lovely place & all staff are welcoming and polite. The work that I had done isn't great....Wouldn't recommend as I've had tattoos with people who aren't working in a shop better work than what I have had done here, They've faded and can hardly see what the writing says. Read Less

Definitely is 'a magickal place' to get tattooed. Friendly atmosphere, staff and decor. You're greeted with a very welcoming manner and smell, honestly it smells beautiful in that place. The staff make sure you feel comfortable straight away and get you settled in with a brew. Read Less

Just had my 3rd tattoo done by jaff, he's a brilliant tattooist and I would recommend him if you want an excellent tattoo doing. I wouldnt go anywhere else than to him I'm really pleased with the tattoos I have off him but I'm really really pleased with my resent one. He was very patient with me when it got too painful . What can I say about this place. Fantastic, brilliant, awesome... Jaff and Co have a great little tattoo studio in Derby which straight away from entering the studio you are made to feel welcome. I cannot speak highly enough about my first experience with A Magickal Place. It's a relaxed atmosphere where conversation amongst everyone flows and you can have a really good laugh. As for my tattoo WOW I love it, genuinely thought Jaff had been doing this for years as opposed to just 4 years... he is extremely well priced and in my opinion too cheap for the quality he produces.
