Had mine done by Matt Bowler after seeing the awesome job he'd done on a mate. Matt made the process so easy from when I first e-mailed to giving advice on how to look after it. I was a bit nervous as it was my first tattoo but felt very relaxed throughout the session and really enjoyed it, wasn't as painful as I feared. Andy was awesome, gave him a basic idea of what I wanted and he created an amazing sleeve for me which surpassed my expectations. Laura did my tattoo in December at Monki 2 studio and I can honestly say the whole experience was fantastic. From the prompt communication to my very own beautiful custom design, she nailed it. Ink day soon came round and was for me a truly relaxing experience. With plenty of tea on offer and friendly chat, it flew by and I was left with body art to be proud of. I initially contacted the studio after seeing the amazingly detailed full arm sleeve a friend had done at Monki Do. I had some ideas for a shoulder piece and Andy said he wanted to do the design and tattoo. He was really efficient at emailing back, consultation was arranged quickly and the consultation itself was informative and thorough. When I got to the studio for the actual tattoo I was offered a drink and the atmosphere was really relaxed, friendly and chatty. Nice to see a mix of art work around too! The studio itself was very clean and the artists were very hygene aware - as should be expected. Had a break part way through the sitting, then at the end offered all the after care info I could need with any products I might want. On top of that, between the consultation and the tattoo my grandad passed away and I wanted a smaller memento which on the day of the sitting, Andy spent some extra time doing for me which was very much appreciated. After my dad passed away my sister and I wanted to each get a butterfly tattoo in honour of him. Neither of us had tattoos before so after some research we initially made contact by email, we were impressed by the prompt replies and the quality of information. We arranged to pop in to have a chat about what we wanted and were immediately made to feel at ease by the staff. As they were only going to be relatively small tattoos we were advised we could attend one of the walk in sessions. As I live over an hours drive away and have young children I was a little concerned that I may get there and they have no availability. After liaising with the staff they agreed that we could go in for 10 am for a slot so I didn't have the worry of waiting around and not getting back home in time for the school run. When we arrived for our appointment we were again made to feel at ease. As a nurse I was obviously keen to ensure hygienic practice and I was impressed at the standards of cleanliness and good practice. Staff were friendly, reassuring and offered plenty of after care advice. After my first tattoo I got the tattoo bug and within a couple of weeks I was liaising with Laura about a another tattoo. I made a consultation appointment and discussed what I wanted, Laura measured up the area I was having tattooed etc, following this she emailed sketches based on what I wanted. My second tattoo is larger, I have had one 6 hour session on it already. I was a little concerned whether I could sit still for that long but I was supplied with plenty of cups of tea, staff were friendly and talkative so time passed really quickly. I am due to go back again within the next 2 weeks for another long session and am already planning my next tattoo. I would highly recommend Monkido to anyone looking at having a tattoo. Read Less
