I'm writing a review regarding the LACK of customer service I've received from Mike Thomas in Skin & Ink. I have had three separate tattoos completing by Mike and during the first tattoo, he was very friendly, polite and respectable. Also I really liked his work. However, his attitude changed when I had my last tattoo completed. I arrived to the shop 10 minutes late due to traffic and I had rang the store beforehand to tell them that I was late. When I arrived I apologised and was told that Mike had gone out to get a coffee. Mike strolled back in 15 minutes later and then was whinging about a customer that he had coming down from London that afternoon for a cover-up. During the 3 hour stint that of my tattoo, Mike spent the whole time bad mouthing Dai (a fellow tattooist working at Skin & Ink) and afterwards referring to my tattoo time as therapy for getting his feelings off his chest. During my tattoo time, I also asked he could use for 2 minutes for me to use the bathroom....to which he said no because he was 'in the zone' with my tattoo. I was not amused as I'd paid for this time and he'd already spent 30 minutes of it getting his coffee and whinging openly about his following customer. I gave Mike the benefit of the doubt thinking that maybe he was just having an 'off day.' I went ahead and booked another tattoo in after all he had only been rude and disrespectful once and I really liked the tattoos he had completed on me. However, in the time that led up to me having this next tattoo, I had had to leave my job and therefore was not in a position to spend money on a tattoo. I had previously been told that if I need to cancel or re-arrange my tattoo, then I need to provide the store/ artist with 24 hours notice (fair enough). Therefore, the day before I was due to have my tattoo, I rang the store to in order to push back the date of the tattoo. Ben was very polite on the phone but he passed the phone to Mike Thomas who was giving attitude about not 'giving enough notice' and secondly was reluctant to honour my deposit for the new date, despite telling people he needs at least 24 hours notice......really bad!A month went by and I was still out of work and a week before my tattoo was due, I had to ring again and ask if I could push back the date. The male staff member on the phone was again, very polite but he had to check with Mike about re-booking.....ummmm why?!. When he came back to the phone, he said that on this occasion they'll honour my deposit but if I need to re-book again then I will certainly lose my deposit. Feeling annoyed that I'd rang up in plenty of time (on both occasions) and all I had was attitude and crappy customer service, I outlined to the man on the phone that I have had tattoos done before with Mike and I'm a reliable customer so I don't really appreciate the fact that on both occasions, they have been reluctant to honour my deposit and just give me a new date. The male responded by saying that re-booking a tattoo for a third time and losing a deposit is a 'policy' put in place by the owners of Skin & Ink. When speaking to Mike about the owners (who are very nice) he will clearly outline that the owners maintain the property and order in materials required for the business but they do not put in place 'rules' or 'policies'. So frankly, this is a loads of BS. Although Mike Thomas is a talented artist, he is not that talented that he can afford to talk to potential customers like rubbish and I will therefore be taking my hard earned cash elsewhere to have work done in the future. Secondly, when speaking to Mike, he will make out that he very busy and strapped for time. However, a few times a week he will post on Facebook that he has free spaces available, therefore prompting people to book in with him....busy guy eh??!! Lastly, if he is as busy as he claims to be, then why on earth has he set up a plan 'b' studio from home just in case he gets asked to leave Skin & Ink......again....??Therefore if you'd like to spend a lot of money on body art but be faced with a narcissistic attitude, then book in with Mike Thomas at Skin & Ink. However, if you want to have a tattoo and also receive great customer service then I'd consider anywhere else. Thanks. Read Less
