Ben is hands down the most talented artist I've ever met!! His ability to take my idea's and make them a very detailed reality....was absolutely sureal!! I sat for 2.5 sessions (16.5hrs in 3 days) and watched it all come to life! Not only does he have this God given talent....but it's his passion and it shows! Awesome artist!! i have had several of Ben's tattoos now over the last few years including cover ups, and currently having a victorian bristol sleeve done. Disappointed. Decided to get a tattoo from here a few months back. Heard excellent things about Ben's work, so thought I'd check this place out. From what I saw on the website, I was really impressed. Ben and his assistant were really helpful when I first went in with my design. He took time to listen to what I wanted, and offered some advice. I felt this would be a good place to go. I came in with my design a few days before my appointment, again everything fine. When I arrived at the studio on the day however, I was kept waiting for 20 mins. I wasn't really bothered by this, as I realise like all appointments they never keep to their time. But when I got in the chair, I spent maybe 15 mins there, even though I had paid for an hour. I left well before my time was up, and my tattoo is best described as rushed. The initial bit that was done looks good, but the rest has been rushed. I was offered a discount on my next tattoo from the assistant, even he obviously knew the job was rushed. I'm sure the quality of work here can be amazing, but I didn't get the best of it. I'm not bothered by the money, or being kept waiting, but by the bog standard tattoo I now have on my arm. I can't recommend any else that Ben Boston from Bristol tattoo studio. His professionalism is at the highest standard and produces a high standard of work on every one,no matter if it's a tiny tattoo to a full on sleeve or back piece. Both my sleeves are done by Ben as I chose him because of previous work I have seen him done on friends.... He listened to every bit of detail I wanted in the sleeve and made sure it was perfect. Went to Ben to get my old tattoos that I've disliked for years covered up. I stressed for months about what I could or couldn't have done as it was going to be a cover up! Within 10 mins of talking with Ben he'd completely put me at ease, asked what I'd like and simply said not a problem!!! I now have a complete arm sleeve covering old tattoos, and second arm sleeve that's in progress covering old tattoos and carrying on to my chest and neck covering the biggest blackest trib...al tattoos that I thought I was stuck with. It amazes me still, what Ben can do to loose existing tattoos and after just one pass over my awful tribal stuff it was unrecognisable. I really couldn't have asked for better tattoos (never mind the fact that they are also cover ups), I now have tattoos I'm proud of and get comments on them everywhere I go from all types of people. The world of body art is a very exciting one. As with anything there will always be those who care more about the money and the image, than the thing itself. As a result I've seen some pretty appalling tattoo and piercing jobs in my time but at The Tattoo Studio they're all about professionalism.Like their business cards and their shop these boys are no-nonsense and to the point. They took over the shop in 1998 and have been working since to build up a good reputation. They're the archetypal tattoo-covered biker-looking guys you'd expect but sincere, honest and polite. Dr Bob runs the piercing side of things and from what I'm told it's a painless affair - both on your body and your wallet!Body art is a beautiful yet serious game. I really don't know why, but places like this kind of scare me. I guess it's probably a deep rooted fear from my over active imagination as a child combined with my mother's stern words of wisdom. This place doesn't scare me as much as the others. For a start its painted a cheerful yellow and the windows are covered with advertisements so you can't see the guys actually tattooing customers (shivers). Inside, staff are (as you'd expect) covered in tattoos, but actually really friendly and helpful. I actually went in there to get a belly button ring and they had a really good selection at a reasonable price so I would probably go back. Read Less
