First off, this is a few weeks late, but I wanted to let my tattoo heal before I posted this, and now that it's healed, here it goes.
I recently went on a trip to Ireland from Lowell, MA a few weeks back. We (my gf) had stayed in Galway for a few nights on our trip around the island, and I had been hoping to get a tattoo before coming home. I just needed to find a place to go.
After trying a few well reviewed places in the city with no luck, I decided to give Rise Tattoo a call to speak with Tony to see if there were any opening available (which he said there were). Since the only review on Google was for Tony, I decided to give him a try.
Getting to the shop wasn't hard (park in the Market St. parking lot) and finding the place was alright, even with a festival happening all around. Once we got into the studio, we could tell it was a quaint shop, dedicated to the art of the tattoo and all things ink. We met Tony, who couldn't have been any nicer.
Unfortunately at that time, his computer was on the fritz, so I couldn't choose a style of tattoo beforehand, so I quickly looked through my phone for ideas when I came across a picture of a beautifully sculpted Celtic Harp that was at our B&B. Tony took the picture and sketched it out on hectograph paper, added a few personal touches to it, and what seemed to be an instant, gave me an amazing tattoo.
His lines were straight, his shading work was nice and his hands were steady. After I was done, he gave my girl a green shamrock outline (still healing). He opened up the hermetically sealed needles in front of us. He was also very personable, kind to talk to. Definitely a place that's underrated and undervalued. Would go again if I ever go back to the homeland.Read Less
