I had long wanted a Celtic Cross tattoo, but couldn't find an artist I liked in America, so I saved the idea for a later time. Finally, my travels were going to take me to Ireland, so where better to realize my dream of a Celtic Cross tattoo? I did some mild research online and landed on The Black Hat. As I only had a finite amount of time, I started communicating with the shop to set up a design plan and appointment. Communications were seamless even with the time difference. So right off the start, I was very impressed with their communication and willing to set something up so detailed, so far in advance. On the day I showed up on time and they were ready for me. I worked with Mr. James Kennedy on my design, placement, color, etc. James was awesome. There is no other way to put it. "Comfortable" would not be a word I would always associate with Tattooing, but that is exactly how James made me feel. Comfortable with the design, really taking ownership and time with it. Then, physically comfortable during the process, as the session lasted about 3 hours due to the intricate knotting. He was kind, receptive, relaxed, not rushed, and frankly, everything that I would want in a tattoo artist or human being. The final product is great. I could not possibly be happier with the entire experience. I would recommend this shop, and Mr. Kennedy, for any of your tattooing needs in Dublin, and more specifically, traditional Irish artwork. Thank you James, Cat, and everyone at Black Hat. I sincerely hope to see you all again someday. Read Less
