I've been to too many salons and hair dressers to count, all of which had no idea how to handle textured hair, had no idea how to cut or style it and had no idea on how to type my hair. But, I can finally say that Cliptomania is my new go to salon. Christian treated me with respect, had amazing tips and a good sense of humour. I loved this place! I was in from Vancouver for a 1920's themed wedding and looking for a funky salon that could do make-up and hair. Derek was amazing! He listened to what I wanted and then when I didn't really like it, he happily made changes and it turned out great.The price was very reasonable. We had a lot of laughs and it was a fun experience. I go to both Derek and Blaze and they're fantastic. They listen, they give professional advice, and they have always given me great cuts. Derek can style hair however you like and do amazing make up. Blaze is very talented at shaping brows as well. My favourite salon! Read Less

This review is late but I was just reminded of my chemical cut when I looked in the mirror. I was going to Christian for a few months & things were fine. She's a one trick pony when it comes to bleach blonde, which was fine when I was happy to have that grey blonde silver thing going that was trendy for a minute last year. When I wanted to go to a more natural blonde & ombré the roots so they looked darker... that's when she really lost the plot. First off the reason I wanted to go darker was because she fried off the hair down my center part & at the nape of my neck. Apparently the salon carries that powder stylists can add to bleach to prevent breakage, but it didn't occur to her to use it, that's the explanation I got from Chris the owner anyway. Back to the ombré disaster a month later, I walked out with dark ash brown roots. It looked like sh!t. I was told to come back for a complimentary re-do. That's fine I was willing to forgive and move forward. When I got to the salon Christian told me I'd have to pay for the product, 2 scoops of bleach = $80. Ha! Nice try but not everybody is in Saskatoon is straight off the farm. A quick phone call to my friend "the platform artist in Vancouver" busted that lie right open. A tub of Blonde Me Bleach costs about $25 and has about 12 scoops in it. Nice math! Anyway, the owner was embarrassed and busted in a lie so I got the redo complimentary as promised. After this near hair disaster I started going to Carrie at Ruby & Co. With the help of some strategically placed tape in extensions, my hair has recovered. Thanks Carrie! Read Less

The lady on the phone was VERY helpful, and booked me in with Janessa. She even complied with my crazy schedule and fit me in a cancellation spot a few hours after I called. This review is fairly long overdue, however, still warranted as I am about to chop off all my hair from a lot of damage. I had been going to a stylist there for a number of years and have always recommended the place and numerous stylists from Cliptomania for their upbeat salon and impressive array of colors, hairstyles and fashion on the staff and the clients walking out. I had been entertaining the idea of going grey/silver and asked about the process and left it up to my s...tylist to either go grey or if stay a darker brown. I had not dyed my hair in almost a year. The stylist said let's do a solid grey, however, warned me it could take up to five hours to do. I was not shown the bleached product and when finished, the color was difficult to see due to the relatively dark lighting in there. I was out of there in 2.5 hours. By the next morning my hair was turning green! I text my hair stylist two days after and explained that my hair looked like an anemic rainbow. It was yellow, green, white and a little grey. Not only did it look absolutely terrible, it started breaking and falling out. I was told I needed to come in for a "tone," which was not the case at all because a tone was not going to turn my hair to the solid color I had wanted it. I suggested just putting a solid brown in to cover up the atrocity that was made. I was then told that I could only get my grey fixed, which would require re-bleaching then toning otherwise I would have to pay to get it covered up with brown. After having no luck with texting my hair stylist I called Cliptomania and explained my situation. The lady on the phone was very understanding and polite and thanked me for calling, I explained that I was not upset about my hair I was not requesting the almost 300$ i paid back, I just simply wanted my hair fixed with a 20$ tube of dye. The owner called me back fairly promptly and was extremely condescending and rude. She explained that I should have known that my hair would not go grey in one day (despite stylist saying so and going ahead with it) and said that she would NOT put my hair brown for no cost. I ended up declining her offer to "look at my hair" because of the blatant rudeness during the phone conversation. I went to another salon to get the absolute mess covered up and have been since using hundreds of dollars worth of product to try to revive my hair with no luck. I understand that coloring does not always work perfectly as planned and some hair reacts differently to product. The outcome was unfortunate but not the end of the world. I just have to say I have been around hair stylists my in tire life (my mom, dad, step mother and my sister is a hair instructor) and all of you are incredible at what you do. I loved listening to all of you explain and teach your clients about their hair. I have gone into different salons and NO ONE does a consultation the way you do. I had the pleasure of Jenessa Miller do my hair and I can honestly say I have never (other than 3 other times) been so happy with how my hair turned out.
