Unfortunately, my recent experience getting a tattoo with Zimmo at Hydra left me feeling frustrated. While on the whole the tattoo looks good, I feel that Zimmo did not listen well and did somewhat of a rush job. For example, there are twelve suns on the tattoo, and he made a mistake and did one in orange and the rest in yellow. If had owned up to this, fine, but he said nothing and just waited to see if I would notice, which I did later on at home. I also asked for the tattoo to be 3" not including text, and he did it 3" including text. I think part of the problem was that we consulted on the tattoo over email, but still it seems he didn't read the emails that carefully. Also, I tried to tell him the spacing was a bit off on the words, but he didn't really listen to me and the spacing ended up being a bit off, with the last word a bit smaller than the others so it could fit. He also didn't wrap the tattoo well at all before I left and the wrapping was falling off in the car. Overall, I like the colors of the tattoo and think it is a good tattoo. But it could have been a great tattoo, which is obviously what I hoped for. I just had the other half of my forearm tattooed with Chris Price yesterday and found him far more careful and more friendly. I wish I could recommend Zimmo, but unfortunately I can't. He obviously is talented, but it seemed he was rushing with me or perhaps distracted in some way. Read Less

Julie is phenomenal. She is more than an amazing tattoo artist - she is passionate, accommodating and comforting. I got my tattoo at Hydra Tattoo Collective last week - Julie took an idea I had and came up with a design. She took every note I had on that design and then created two separate final designs for me to choose from. She was professional and never let my indecision make her doubt her incredible work. I know I can be annoying and finnicky and detail oriented, but she killed it. She did an incredible job and I couldn't be happier. I've gotten one tattoo from Hydra Tattoo and plan to get many more from here. On sight, I've recommend and sent my girlfriend and my best friend to this place where they both got Ink. Julie has been our go to, but they're all very talented, friendly and, knowledgeable. Everybody is pleased with their pieces and we plan on going back in the near future. I had my appointment April 3rd. I drove from Midwest United States for this appointment . It was probably the best tattooing experience I've ever had. The shop was clean, it smelled good, and the music played was at a reasonable level and had a good variety. The owner of the shop tattooed me and we talked for probably a good hour on the game play and character development of MGS. If anyone is ever in the Toronto area and is looking to get tattooed, I highly recommend Hydra Tattoo Collective. Read Less

I just noticed this place as I was walking through the neighbourhood. The staff here is friendly and very cool. They helped to distract me as I was getting my tattoo. I followed a Tattooist from another shop...actually I should say ink artist.. All the Tattooists I have talked to there seem to care about good work but more importantly, they listen to their customers. I am currently getting some work done by John who loves cartoon and comic images. My Wife as well is getting work on her back by another great listener Teresa who has vision.  They have various artwork hanging on the walls that I think are for sale. It truely shows the diversity of artistry that this great shop has.They even went out of their way to look at my young daughters art work and gave her a few tips for improvement.  The 2 streets that run either side of the shop has free parking so it is very convenient not to mention only 5 min from the DVP. There are  bus stops on both sides of Dundas for those that use transit.  Payment options are convenient so if you use plastic they take it. I am very happy and will be coming back a few times.
